<div>On Memorial Day 2026, my life changed forever.
</div>

<div>I went to the emergency room believing I had kidney stones. Less than an hour later, I was diagnosed with congestive heart failure.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>After undergoing a cardiac catheterization, doctors found something unexpected: I have 0% blockage in my coronary arteries. While that was good news, it also meant they couldn't identify a blocked artery or another obvious cause for my heart failure.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>I was ultimately diagnosed with end-stage congestive heart failure caused by severely reduced heart function.</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>My heart's Ejection Fraction (EF) - the percentage of blood my heart pumps with each beat - is only 15%. A normal EF is generally between 55% and 70%.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Because my heart pumps so little blood, simple everyday tasks that most people never think twice about - taking a shower, getting dressed, walking through a grocery store, carrying groceries, climbing stairs, or even making the bed - can feel like running a marathon. What used to be routine now requires careful planning, frequent breaks, and more energy than I often have.
</div>

</div>
<div>I also experience "brain fog," a common symptom of advanced heart failure that can make it difficult to concentrate, cause forgetfulness, and leave me unable to think as clearly or quickly as I once did.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Every day is unpredictable. Some mornings I wake up feeling relatively okay. Other days I'm exhausted before I even get out of bed. That's the reality of living with advanced heart failure.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>My doctors have told me that I will need either a Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) or a heart transplant within the next 6 to 12 months in order to survive. </strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>When I received this diagnosis, I didn't have health insurance. Unfortunately, I had gone without coverage because I simply couldn't afford the nearly $1,200 monthly premium for an ACA health insurance plan. It's a decision I deeply regret.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Since then, I've nearly exhausted my savings paying medical bills, and I currently have approximately $50,000 in additional medical expenses pending. While I'm hopeful that financial assistance programs will reduce some of those costs, I've still had to apply for help wherever possible. At the same time, I'm unable to work and have no income while I wait for my disability benefits to begin. To put that into perspective, I was billed $1,027.90 for a 2.9-mile ambulance ride and $559.00 for less that 5-minutes with my Cardiologist in the hospital.

<div>There is some good news. My health insurance becomes effective on August 1, and I am in the process of applying for Social Security Disability benefits. Unfortunately, because of the required waiting periods, I won't receive disability income for several months. Until then, I'm unable to work and currently have no source of income.
</div>

</div>
<div>I've been fortunate to have experienced success in my life, and I've always believed in giving back. Over the years, I've donated to causes I believed in, established scholarships, and volunteered thousands of hours because helping others has always been important to me. I've never been comfortable asking for help, and if you know me personally, you know just how difficult it is for me to write these words.
</div>

<div>One of the things that has humbled me the most is how many people immediately offered to start a GoFundMe for me. Their kindness reminded me that I'm not facing this alone, especially during a time when so much about my future is uncertain. I ultimately decided to create it myself because I didn't want anyone else to have to shoulder the responsibility or deal with any potential financial or tax implications on my behalf.

<div>Over the past several years, I've poured everything I had into building my business while also helping care for both of my parents. Every extra dollar I earned went toward building a future and supporting my family. I never imagined that I would suddenly be unable to work, unable to help care for my parents, and facing the reality that I will need an LVAD or heart transplant.

<div>Today, I'm focusing all of my energy on staying alive, following my treatment plan, and giving myself the best possible chance at recovery.
</div>

<div>Anyone who knows me knows how stubborn I am - I don't give up. I'm determined to keep fighting this disease with everything I have. With the right treatment and support, I hope to get back to being there for my family and, one day, establish a foundation dedicated to helping others facing the same battle. If I'm fortunate enough to get through this, I want to use my experience to make life a little easier for those who find themselves where I am today.

Sara passed away unexpectedly and far too young on December 4, 2025, in South Carolina, at the age of 44. She leaves behind four beautiful children. Sara’s children, Liam 17, Mya 15, James 13, and Elise, 9 were the center of her world. While we cannot take away their grief, we can help ease the uncertainty that lies ahead.

<div>One of the greatest concerns she shared was her children’s future-especially their education. In her memory, we are raising funds to help ensure each child has support when the time comes to pursue college or other educational/vocational paths. Your kindness and support will be a reminder of how deeply they are loved during this sorrowful time in their lives.

<div>All funds raised will be deposited equally into four separate 529 college savings plans, one established for each child. These accounts are dedicated education savings plans and can only be used for qualified expenses such as tuition, books, housing, and related costs.

<div>Like many residents of Oxford, my mother, Jodi Williams, has been deeply affected by the flash flooding that struck yesterday, August 18th. In an instant, her car and the surrounding areas were engulfed in water, leaving her trapped on the second floor of her home.

<div>Thankfully, the Beacon Hose Company was there just in time. They courageously used their ladder truck to rescue her and her beloved dog, Gus, from the raging waters below.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>While the most important thing is that she is safe, the future of her home and all her belongings remains uncertain. Her car was swept away in the flood and has yet to be found. It is entirely unclear that she will be allowed back into her home.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>She raised me in Beacon Falls, she’s lived in Oxford her entire life, this will always be <em>home</em>.
</div>

Support Jodi Williams' Recovery from Flood

<div>The Lemke family suffered a terrible loss on Monday afternoon when Bobby, beloved fiance to Felicia and father to Bryce, passed away unexpectedly in a car accident. Not only will Bobby's whole family be grieving his unexpected loss, but they must carry on and continue to live after this. Bryce is and was the light of Bobby's life and his memory will live on through him.

Hey everyone! Jenn here &amp; my brother Jamie too! we really really need your help at this difficult time! We really hoped we wouldn’t have to do this. But things have been extremely difficult lately on my family. Our dad was diagnosed with throat cancer on 4/30. By 5/26 he was in the OR &amp; had his voicebox &amp; tumor removed. He cannot speak at all. He’s been pretty uncomfortable since the surgery. At this point he’s been in the hospital 14 days &amp; just keeps getting more diagnosis’. Today (6/7) his surgeon told him after 6-7 weeks post op he will need to start chemo &amp; radiation, which wasn’t the original plan. But she said the tumor wrapped around his vocal chords was very close to lymph nodes. This was scary news for all 4 of us. We just want him to be better! The surgeon also told us if he waited another month to do this, he would’ve suffocated. It’s a very slow healing process so far. So if you can donate anything it would be great. My mom hasn’t worked at all since a couple days before surgery &amp; she’s a nervous wreck trying to hold it all together financially. She goes to visit my dad 7 days a week. One of our wonderful Farmington/Unionville neighbors has started off 2020 with a terrible loss. Their beautiful home suffered a house fire on January 2. We are grateful that both they and their pets escaped safely but tragically, they are left with nothing. While they count themselves lucky, the future is daunting. At the moment they are operating in disbelief and numbness but the harsh reality of what has been lost will soon sink in. Their days ahead will be filled with a sense of overwhelming loss. Many have reached out asking how they can help. We started this GoFundMe on their behalf to help them get by over the next few months. Brett, Lindsey, Kayla (age 8) and Mason (age 6) need our amazing community’s help.<br /><br />Understandably, not all are in a position to contribute. For those who can and are able to, it’s greatly appreciated.<br /><br />While the outpouring of material donations is a tremendous help, the family needs to make decisions about their next move and don’t have anywhere to store these items at the moment. Fire Fundraiser for the D’Appollonio Family

My dad, David Mullen was taken from us this past Saturday unexpectedly. My family and I would like to be able to say our proper goodbyes and be able to spend those few last moments with him. It would mean the world to me to be able to provide my sister with a chance to say goodbye to her dad.

We are all devastated by the unexpected loss of our dear friend, brother, father, son, uncle, and husband.... James Wilkin, age 41, who passed away on June 30, 2018.  He was a loving and dedicated family man who worked hard to take care of his family.  His love for his family was always evident.  He leaves behind his wife, Stacy and their four children, Joshua, 19, Julieanne, 13, Samuel-Lee, 11 and Sebastian, 8.<br /><br />Even though he suffered from Polycystic Kidney Disease for many years, he did not complain about his health.  He would always put his family's needs first and could be found with a smile on his face.  Unfortunately, due to his health issues he was unable to buy life insurance.<br /><br />Donations will go directly to Stacy, and the funds will help the family with final expenses and the care of his family that he leaves behind.<br /><br />Our hope is that this fund can help Jim's family not only with their financial needs but also to give them the peace of mind to focus on the most important things right now... each other and the long process of healing that will take place.<br /><br />Thank you so much to all of you.  Your thoughts, prayers, hugs, and tears are being felt and they are so comforting.

Good afternoon,<br />With a heavy heart, I write this for my dad, Alvin "Sam" Glover . Due to the most recent diastereous flooding that took place in Southeastern part Louisiana, Sam was not spared any luck. With the rapid river water that came into Denham Springs with no WARNING, he had only about 20 mins to gather anything he could grab. With the history of his medical condition, that was one of his first go to's and very few articles of clothing. At that point he glanced outside to noticed the water had already rose abt a half of foot. So with one bag of medicine and couples pairs of shirts and pants, he tried to evacuate. only to find out the interstate was closed down in both direction and flooding all around him. He became stuck on the Juban overpass in Denham Springs for 3 days.  And as you will hear on the news, not much survived. Sam had abt 3 ft of water in his home and lost everything from pictures to clothes, to all basic needs. As a strong family unit we have began the process of moving forward, but it's hard starting over from nothing and like many others with no flood insurance. On Wednesday January  6, 2016 our nephew ALEX MILOSEVIC was involved in a tragic accident with his girlfriend CASEY  GIANNONE on interstate I-84 in Waterbury, Ct.  He sustained life threating injuries and faces a long hard recovery.  <br /><br />Alex is a 2015 graduate of Bristol Central High School where he played on the football team #70.  This fun loving young man's spirit has been tackled.<br /><br />The donations will be used to help pay for the massive medical bills this young man faces. With the burden of this huge debt this bright energetic young man faces an uphill battle financially for a long time. <br /><br />We are setting up this page because unfortunately Alex does not have any medical insurance.
