Lucas is a strong, loved, and incredibly brave little boy who has recently been diagnosed with Dravet Syndrome, a rare, serious and complex form of epilepsy.
In December 2025, Lucas was first diagnosed with Epilepsy, and since then, his parents, Jeffrey and Amber McFarland, have been searching for answers. Recently, they faced every parent’s worst nightmare: Lucas experienced a severe seizure that lasted over 2 ½ hours. It took multiple medications to stop it, and due to the intensity, he had to be intubated to help him breathe. He spent the night in the hospital before finally being stabilized.
While in the hospital, genetic testing confirmed that Lucas has Dravet Syndrome. Although this diagnosis brings clarity, it also opens the door to a long and uncertain journey of specialized care, ongoing treatments, and constant monitoring. Every case is different, and Lucas’ path forward will involve working closely with neurologists and specialists to find the best possible care plan.
Amber is not only caring for Lucas through this incredibly difficult time, she is also pregnant with their second child and working full-time. Jeffrey is working full-time as well, all while trying to be present for his family and help manage Lucas’ condition. The reality they are facing is overwhelming. They are often afraid to leave the house, worried Lucas could have another life-threatening seizure at any moment.
This GoFundMe was created to help ease the financial burden that comes with Lucas’ medical care, including hospital stays, medications, specialist visits, and the many unknown expenses that lie ahead. More than anything, we want to give Jeffrey and Amber the ability to focus on what matters most which is caring for Lucas and their growing family.
Lucas is deeply loved, and his family is holding onto hope. He is a fighter, and they will do everything they can to give him the best life possible!
If you’re able to donate, share, or simply keep this family in your thoughts and prayers, it truly means the world.
Thank you for supporting Lucas and the McFarland family during this time.
