My name is Christina Schmitt. My best friend lost her entire life and every single thing she owns in a house fire on August 31st. Not only did she lose absolutely everything, she lost her fur babies too. If anyone could share or donate to help her get back on her feet, she would really appreciate it. She literally has nothing. Those that know Caryn Baker know she has a heart of gold and would give the shirt off her back to anyone in need. Let's all come together as a community to help her! I know she will appreciate any help whatsoever!

Thank you, everyone, for a share or donation.

Hey Family,

My name is Reesio Jones, founder of The Watchmen Brotherhood.

Many of you may have been introduced to me through my social platforms and already know how passionate I am about our people, our families, and standing against the injustices our communities continue to face.

I founded The Watchmen Brotherhood with a simple but powerful purpose: to build a strong, connected brotherhood of Black men committed to standing together and protecting our families, our businesses, our communities, and—most importantly—our legacies.

Our mission is to build our family and protect what we build.

But brotherhood has to be more than words. It means being willing and able to show up when one of our families needs support. We are working to build the financial resources necessary to travel, organize, and provide assistance when members of our community need someone willing to stand in the gap with them.

If you believe in what The Watchmen Brotherhood stands for and the work we are building toward, we humbly ask you to support the mission in whatever way you can. Every contribution helps strengthen our ability to show up, stand together, and protect what matters most.

The world we are living in has made one thing increasingly clear: we need each other. Our strength has always been greater when we stand together.

Today it may be their doorstep. Tomorrow, it could be yours.

Let’s build together. Let’s protect what we build. And let’s stand together—NOW.

My name is Demajha and I am raising money so that I don’t get evicted and for a better car. I try to pretend everything is okay but it isn’t and I need help which is why I’m making this. My car broke down a few days ago and I need another one to be able to get to and from work. It doesn’t have to be new it just has to get me there. I am also behind $760 in rent and am on the verge of being evicted. I don’t want to ask for help but I do truly need it and appreciate anything you’re able to give.

Overdue Rent and Car

I went missing in a different city after my phone, keys, and credit card were stolen from my purse last week!! That night I made my way back to my hotel, but the next morning I had no way of telling my friends or family I was stranded (no phone). That's when the hotel concierge called an uber for me to get to a phone store.

As my rental car was getting towed because I had no keys, the uber driver that picked me up, Raul Torres, saw that I was in need. Even though I was scared, I told him I'd figure it out and just needed a ride to buy phone. He wouldn't accept that and insisted on staying with me until he knew I was going to get home. His instincts were right, and thankfully he didn't just drop me off!!

I was unable to get a new phone, (I didn't have access to my phone plan of course), so he sacrificed his entire day to make sure I was safe. He picked me up for what he thought would be a normal ride that morning and never left my side. After I couldn't get a phone, we got coffee, he brought me to a police station and helped me file a police report, he got me food, helped me get a rental car, and by the end of the day, he ended up figuring out how to track down my phone, so I didn't even need to get a new one! What could’ve turned into an emergency situation felt like a fun day with a new friend because of Raul.

He picked me up at 10 AM and stayed with me until I had everything I needed to get home at 6 PM, which should have been his entire day of work. When we decided to go to a Mexican restaurant for food, he started showing me pictures of him and his family.

I learned that Raul has a daughter in high school who is currently struggling through chemo. He told me all he wants is for his daughter to have a normal end to her senior year, and to be able to go to big events like prom and graduation. After speaking to him and his wife, I realized how lucky I was to have gotten that specific Uber ride. I want to help any way I can, so a Gofundme seems like the best way.

Raul's dad has cancer as well and is under their care, so his family is currently caring for two family members with cancer in one house. Meeting Raul reminded me that we meet people for a reason, and I'd love to say thank you!! Anything helps :)

The Torres Family

My Daughter, Tara Mitchell, is a beautiful soul that would move mountains to help a friend in need – I, and others, have often witnessed her strength and generosity. She gives of herself without asking for anything in return. Now, Tara needs your help.

Tara was in Mexico to celebrate the wedding of her twin brother Tyler recently where she had an unfortunate accident and injured her leg and spent the majority of her vacation in a wheelchair. A few days after returning to the US she visited her Orthopedist who ordered an MRI to determine the extent of her injuries. She was “thrilled” when he told her it was a broken bone and not a torn ligament – as she has dealt with ligament issues in her knees for years. The Doctor stressed the possibility of developing blood clots and was most concerned about her flight home from WI to FL in 2 days. The Doctor even provided Tara with a note for the airline asking to seat her in the front with additional leg room. Unfortunately, Tara never made that flight. In the early hours on Sunday, January 27th, 2018, Tara woke up to severe pain in her leg. She tried to position herself to relieve the leg pain – and eventually it went away. A few minutes later, Tara found herself with severe chest pain with difficulty breathing. Her Dad rushed her to the hospital where it was determine that she had multiple submassive pulmonary embolisms in both lungs and one blood clot in her leg - a very severe and life threatening diagnosis.

After 2 days in the hospital the Cardiologist decided to do a clot busting procedure to hasten the breaking up of the pulmonary embolisms in her lungs. It's a relatively new procedure and the first time it had been performed at this particular hospital. The procedure is similar to a Heart Cath – the Cath remained in a position close to her heart for 12 hours pulsing the medicine via ultrasound towards the clots in her lungs and down the legs. Tara was moved to ICU and had to lay completely flat for 19 hours and remain as still as possible – this was incredibly difficult and painful as you can probably imagine. She remained in ICU for 2 days prior to her discharge.

The medical costs resulting from Tara’s ordeal continue to mount. Her insurance has a very high dollar deductible making her portion astronomical – that is the amount I hope to raise for her. She needs our help. Please give whatever you can to help Tara get through this ordeal. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Community Supported Shelters Tucson needs your help and support to bring huts to our homeless neighbors.

Community Supported Shelters Tucson formed in the summer of 2013 as a movement to engage the community in addressing the critical need for basic shelter and security for the thousands of our community members currently experiencing homelessness. During that time we have learned a ton, developed amazing partnerships and informally built and placed several “Homeless Huts” around Tucson both at private residence and church locations.

Much as we suspected, we have found the “hut” model works exceptionally well, especially for those that do not have options within the current limited framework of shelter and housing services in our community. Huts are able to meet their needs in a super cost effective and humane manner. They can bring basic shelter, security and stability to our community members who have no other options. Most importantly this is what the homeless folks I work with are saying they want and need. Community Supported Shelters Tucson is being modeled after already successful programs in cities such as Eugene, Oregon and Madison, Wisconsin. Connect with us on Facebook and be a part of the solution.

We need your help in making 2015 an incredible year. Home Is Where the Hut Is

This is the official Go Fund Me page for Comfort Cases. All donations go directly into Comfort Cases account for immediate use.

Comfort Cases is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization that provides children ages 0-18 who are in the foster care system with a bag filled with essential needs like soap and a toothbrush as well as comfort items, like a stuffed animal and a pair of pajamas.

Thousands of children enter the foster care system each year. Most carry little more than the clothes on their backs and are usually given a trash bag to hold their belongings. Comfort Cases was founded by Rob Scheer in 2013 with the hope that one day all these brave foster children will have more than a trashbag as they begin their journey to find a home.

Rob Scheer, a former foster child, is the father of 4 children adopted through the foster system with his husband, Reece. In January of 2009, they received a phone call that a 4 year old girl and her 2 year old brother were in need of foster care. They would be the 3rd foster home to these 2 children in 3 months. When Amaya and Makai arrived to their new home, they had trash bags filled with a few items. These bags contained their whole lives; outfits that were tattered and worn down.

Rob immediately flashed back to his days in the foster care system. He remembered beginning his difficult journey much the same way Amaya and Makai did, with a trash bag. More than 30 years later, he still remembers the trash bag filled with a used pair of pants and 2 stained shirts. After all these years...why haven't things changed for youth entering foster care?

Comfort Cases is currently100% volunteer run. In it's first year, we donated 700 bags to foster children in the Metropoitan DC area. Since 2013, Comfort Cases has donated over 22, 000 bags to children in the foster care system across 21 states and Washington DC. We still have a long way to go to bring dignity to these foster children Nationwide. Over 400, 000 children are in the foster system in the United States.

Every donation made goes directly into creating Comfort Cases for foster children. We have already made a big difference in the few years since we started and we know that with the help of all the generous people who want to make a impact in the lives of foster children we CAN do more!

With the $200,000 we raise, we will be able to purchase cases for over 40,000 foster youth to be filled with Comfort Case items.

Every child who receives a Comfort Case in the most difficult and trying time of their lives will be able to remember receiving a bag that was filled with new items; a blanket, a book, instead of remembering, like Rob and so many others, a trash bag. Please help us make better memories in these children's lives. We, and they, will forever be grateful!

Thank YOU!!!!

www.comfortcases.org

Bringing Comfort Home- Official Site

On Saturday the 19th of December Staff Sargeant Matthew James Whalen fell ill. He was taken to the hospital with and was diagnosed with a hemorrhage in his brain. He did not recover. On the 21st of December 2015 this hero served again, his organs were donated to two veterans in dire need of transplants. His wife Hannah Whalen was by his side and now has two small children to provide for as well as hospital bills. There is never a good time for this, but this is one of the worst times. Matthew and Hannah both served their country, as STRIKE soldiers (2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division) with multiple deployments while in the army and now they need our help. We cannot bring back Logan, Mattix, and Sadie's father, but we can help his wife and family, especially during this time of year.
