<div>It is with disbelief and a crushed heart that I am creating this fundraiser in memory of Debora Nohemí Chumil Rafael, a beautiful little girl from the Maya community of Jaibalito on the shores of Lake Atitlán, Guatemala. She unexpectedly passed away on July 13th.

<div>I met Debora in March of 2022, and we connected instantly through a shared love of art. She was bright, gentle, endlessly creative, patient, intelligent, and carried a sweetness unlike anyone else.

<div>Over the years, we shared so many beautiful moments together, and she became deeply meaningful to me, even without ever being able to narrow our relationship down to one label. Hija de alma, amiguita, hermanita, alumna, maestra mía. She was the spark that inspired the creation of UMA, an educational project rooted in creativity, nature, and intercultural connection.

<div>Her passing has left an immeasurable void in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved her. While no amount of money can ease the pain of losing a child, it can help relieve some of the financial burden her family is now carrying.

THE TRAVELING GOOD 2.0 - THE HOPE TOUR

<div>On the morning of July 4th, 2026, the day of her son DJ's wedding, our mom (Tracey), her eldest daughter (Brittany), daughter-in-law (Heather), and two grandchildren were involved in a serious, head-on collission about 1/4mi from the wedding venue in Shapleigh, Maine. Everyone was hospitalized with Mom and Brittany sustaining severe injuries.

<div>Mom was life-flighted from the crash to Portland MaineMedical, where she has undergone multiple intensive surgeries, including a hip replacement and surgeries to repair both of her broken femurs (one of which was shattered). As of today (July 14th), she still faces at least another week in the hospital before transferring to an inpatient OT PT rehabilitation facility, where she’ll begin months of intensive therapy.

<div>Just before this happened, Mom was in between jobs after her previous company was bought out. She was preparing for the next chapter of her life and hoping to retire in just a few years. Instead, she’s now facing months of recovery, the inability to work, and an overwhelming financial burden.

<div>Beyond the extensive hospital stay and multiple surgeries, the costs continue to grow with the emergency Life Flight transport, specialized trauma care, rehabilitation, follow-up appointments, mobility equipment, and countless medical expenses that accompany such life-altering injuries.

<div>We are asking for community support because as we’ve begun navigating the insurance process, we’ve learned that the driver who caused this crash carried only the state’s minimum liability insurance. Unfortunately, the available coverage appears to fall far short of the financial losses Mom is facing, leaving many of these expenses uncertain.

Help Tracey Recover After Catastrophic Car Crash

<div>Milton just became a father one month ago. His baby Jaden is healthy. His partner Lety is still recovering from giving birth.

<div>Then this week, a drunk 15-year-old on a motorcycle hit Milton and his sister Drucia. They both survived. They are both pretty hurt but will recover fully. And the family that depends on Milton, including his one-month-old baby, is suddenly without income.

<div>I am writing this to ask for help.

<div>Milton is my business partner in Colibri Delivers, our small delivery company in Guatemala. He is also like a brother to me. With no exaggeration, he is the kindest and most trustworthy person I have ever known.

<div>I hired him almost 2 years ago when he was a gardener. I taught him how to ride a motorbike. I taught him to deliver. I taught him the business. He has since become the backbone of Colibri and the reason we have completed over 3,000 deliveries and we're growing fast. Recently, I made him a major partner in the company, with a major percentage, because he has earned every bit of it. I pay him 30 to 50 percent above the local minimum wage. He still deserves more, and we are building toward that.

<div>Milton's income is the main income for his entire household. That household is his partner Lety (who tragically lost both her parents), their newborn Jaden, his sister Drucia, and both of his parents. They all live together in a home that Milton and his father built by hand, board by board. Currently, our Colibri app is closed, as I'm doing my best to pick up the slack, but it's not sufficient for the needs of our customers.

<div>Before Colibri, Milton's family lived under a roof that was constantly broken. The income Milton earned through our work finally gave them the stability to take out a $12,000 USD construction loan to fix that roof and finish the house. The work is not done yet.

<div>The other day, a drunk 15-year-old on a motorcycle hit Milton and Drucia. The accident was not Milton's fault. The boy's family does not have money. Milton's family chose not to involve the police because they did not want to ruin a 15-year-old's life over one stupid decision. That is the kind of people they are.

<div>Now Milton cannot work. Drucia cannot work. Lety is still postpartum. Jaden is one month old. And Colibri is still a small, emerging business that is currently closed due to this situation. We do not yet have the reserves to carry the family the way they deserve to be carried right now.

My 40th Birthday Vision

<div>I’ve lived in a small community in Guatemala for the past 15 years. Five and a half years ago, after over a decade of hard work and saving, I was finally able to purchase a small home and piece of land where I envisioned raising my son and building a life with my then-husband.

<div>I invested everything into:

<div>Most recently, using the last of my savings to build a boutique and therapy space to house my private practice and retail business

<div>I imagined my life here, raising my son in this vibrant village, and offering my healing work to locals and travelers alike.

<div><strong>A Devastating Shift</strong>

</div>

<div>In spring 2024, my 10-year-old son began struggling with his mental health. As a licensed mental health social worker, I recognized the signs of early depression and made the heartbreaking decision for him to relocate to the U.S. to live full-time with his father. I stayed behind because I had just poured every cent I had into my property and couldn't afford to relocate.

<div>In early 2025, I made the decision to rent my home and business so I could spend more time near my son. That’s when everything changed.

</div>

</div>

<div><strong>The Land Invasion</strong>

</div>

<div>After publicly listing my property for rent, I became the target of a local man—known in the community for land theft, violence, and disturbing behavior. He has a documented history of:

<li>Attempted land grabs

</li>

<li>Sexual violence and harassment

</li>

<li>Threatening and intimidating locals and foreigners alike

</li>

</ul>

<div>He saw my listing and launched a calculated attempt to steal my land.

<div>He began by:

</div>

<li>Claiming my property as his

</li>

<li>Launching a smear campaign online with horrific lies, including that I raped his mother and committed murder

</li>

<li>Encouraging violence against me and those who defended me

</li>

<li>Spreading false claims that we burned down his home, killed his animals, and extorted him for $250K

</li>

<li>He calls us racist, terrorist, and claims we are somehow connected to a genocide, he claims happened in 1988 (when I was 7 years old)

</li>

</ul>

<div>None of these claims are based in any truth. The damage, however, has been real and devastating.

</div>

</div>

<div><strong>What He Has Done</strong>

</div>

<div>On March 24th, 2025, he:

</div>

<li>Tore down a 10m x 3m fence

</li>

<li>Entered my land with a machete and illegally occupied my property

</li>

<li>Built a barrier wall dividing my house from the rest of the land (including two yoga decks, a bathroom, shower, kitchen, and ceremonial fire pit)

</li>

<li>Destroyed my fire pit, spray-painted my decks and walls, and stole all items from my bodega (garden and construction tools)

</li>

<li>Pitched a tent and is now living on my land daily

</li>

</ul>

<div>The emotional and financial toll is enormous.

</div>

</div>

<div><strong>What This Has Cost Me</strong>

</div>

<ul>

<li>Over $2,000 already in legal fees, translators, and security

</li>

<li>Destruction and theft totaling $7,000–$8,000

</li>

<li>Loss of $3,000 in refunded rental income &amp; future income for the foreseeable future 

</li>

<li>Closure of my boutique and online therapy practice

</li>

<li>Hundreds of violent, threatening messages, including rape and death threats

</li>

<li>Forced to shut down two websites and all social media to protect myself

</li>

<div>In the meantime, I’m doing everything I can to stay safe, stay sane, and stay grounded—but I’m scared. I’m exhausted. And I’m trying to survive while being separated from my son and managing this crisis alone.

<div>Two and a half weeks ago, the van that powers my small business, <em>Mama Cacao Wow</em>, broke down unexpectedly on our way to the first big farmers market of the year — and alas, she's totaled. The head gasket blew and leaked coolant into the engine and the cost of repairs are far more than the van itself.

<div>I knew this was a possibility with my Sienna being an older horse, but she's been so reliable and I've been pouring love and minor fixes into her over the years. We are still in a young growth stage as a small business and I was planning on using this season's earnings to invest into a newer, more reliable vehicle. This is unfortunate timing.

<div>The van was more than just transportation — it was how I ran my entire business. From picking up ingredients and spring water, holding all of my product and big equipment, to traveling between markets from Fayetteville to Eureka Springs, and showing up for events near and far — it did it all. It was, quite literally, the engine that kept <em>Mama Cacao Wow </em>and myself running. Losing it has been a huge blow, and it’s put my business at a standstill. We have been working so hard these last few months from fine tuning and taking Cureate's business course. With missing five markets and no income, we’ve been eating the cost of owning and operating a small business and pausing our connection and visibility within these markets. It’s been hard emotionally and financially, but I’m staying hopeful and moving forward.

<div>Hello everyone, my name is Cyre (Siri), and I am writing this in hopes to help a human in need of support. I am writing this about a wonderful friend, Ames Lee. Ames is bodyworker, space holder and animal rights advocate. And most importantly a stellar new mom who is having a difficult time.

<div>Ames and I met in the early 2000’s working at small hotel pub in Grande. Prairie, Alberta. Upon meeting Ames, I knew she was a special human. She had a healing spirit and an infectious smile and laugh. My soul aligned with hers right away. Fast forward to now, 20-something years later (!). Ames is a talented body worker, medicine facilitator and business owner. I reconnected with Ames via social media during her pregnancy and recent birth of her son, Woods. Messaging her sporadically, I came to find out Ames now lives abroad. I

<div>could see that in the last few months of Ames’s pregnancy and into the birth of Woods, her posts had changed and she was going through challenges. She was sad and struggling. Her vibrant spirit had darkened. Ames let me know that she had separated from Woods’ father. That alone being enough to make any new mom sad, stressed and struggle, she further confided that the relationship was quite emotionally damaging. Her partner had mentally and emotionally abused her and took advantage of her financially, draining her savings and resources. Ames had left the relationship to protect herself and Woods from

<div>further abuse and trauma. She left the home she created in the USA and travelled back to Central America where she felt it was the safest place to be to raise woods in a loving community and revive her business.

<div>Currently, Ames is struggling. Ames is not only dealing with recovering from leaving an abusive relationship with a baby, but she was left financially devastated. It took everything she had left to relocate herself and Woods to a safer environment. Ames does not currently have a reserve of funds to get her through her “maternity leave”. Ames has resumed taking clients within her business, but as any new parents know, trying to maintain and manage a business while being a single parent is hard. Ames is working so hard to make ends meet and provide for herself and baby Woods. All while healing her heart and trauma, while needing to be strong for Woods.

<div>Kanika is a soulcentric educator and mentor and has spent the last 20 years working at the intersection of art, youth, and social change. She was born and raised in New Delhi, India, and pursued her bachelors in Social and Behavioral Sciences at Soka University in California with a post-graduation in Dance Movement Therapy in Spain.

<div>A seasoned shapeshifter and bridge builder, Kanika has a gift for clueing into the needs of a community and responding in culturally sensitive ways. Her experience includes working in India developing Bridge Programs for rural &amp; urban youth, Arts for Social Change programs for adolescents, embodiment and sex education programs for young girls from at-risk neighborhoods. She led integration programs for refugee women in Spain, along with bringing the expressive arts to classrooms in Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Kanika has taught embodied leadership courses at the University of Valdivia, Chile, and Psychosomatic Approaches to Peace-building at the UN University for Peace in Costa Rica,

Help Lakota Grandmother heal from Cancer

<div>I know there are many people in need during these incredible times of trial.  I am making this page for my mother.  We lost my sister to cancer almost a year ago now.  My mother heroically stepped in and purchased the house my niece and nephew live.  Because of inflation and cost of living on the rise she is slowly sinking further into debt. At 76 years old instead of abandoning her grandchildren, she has chosen to sacrifice her retirement.  Recently our family dog of 13+ years escaped the yard and she is facing fines from OMHS.  The reason my mother bought the home is so that Heather's children would not lose their stability in where they've grown up and made friends.  My sister was only 47 years old.  My niece is 11 and my nephew 12.  I wish I had the finances myself, how I contribute is by helping my mother in any way I can.  So I appeal to you all that have been touched by the cold hand of cancer.  The heroes that have stepped in to raise loved ones so they have an opportunity to love and grow in a positive environment. <div>These last few days have been nothing short of what felt like the end of the world for Amy.  She thought she was losing her best friend when our buddy Zeppy had to go to the emergency pet hospital to have surgery or else he wouldn’t make it. Luckily, they were able to perform the surgery successfully and he’s recovering! But, unfortunately, we all know the bills don’t stop coming. They kept laying the fees on her and she was not necessarily prepared to pay for about $14,000 in bills on top of some of the worst days of her life worrying she was going to lose her baby.

Emergency intestinal surgery for Zeppy!

<div>The Kogi, meaning "Jaguar" people, are located high in the mountains of Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. They are an extremely special people--the only indigenous people who survived the Spanish conquistadors by hiding up in the mountains for 500 years until they broke their silence 30 years ago to give us a warning regarding the state of the planet.<br /><br />

<div>The Kogi are the last surviving civilization from the world of the Inca and the Aztecs. They are descendants of the Tairona people, the inhabitants of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta from 2500 BC. <span>Although they don’t have the wheel, or even writing, they are unbelievably culturally advanced. They show an astuteness and understanding of human nature that is baffling. But, their knowledge is even deeper in matters of the environment and the ecosystem they inhabit.  Their spiritual leaders, the Mamos, dedicate their lives to keeping the balance of Mother Earth for all of humanity. <div>This past weekend, due to an unfortunate accident, fires raged throughout one of their pueblos, burning temples and the living quarters of their people, leaving 130 families and children without a roof over their head.

<div>I spoke to a Kogi leader this past weekend and he was in tears, full of sadness, as they have worked tirelessly to rebuild sacred temples and preserve the cities of their people, only to have progress hindered by setbacks such as these.

<div>1. A land tax of 7K USD needs to be paid by June 11th to recover a large area of sacred land (currently occupied by campesinos) to be put back in their name; this land is where the Mamos hope to build a grand sacred temple, serving as a cultural and societal landmark for the Kogi to restore their cultural merit and invite world leaders in to receive their message for the world.

<div>Our daughter Oriah was born two months premature by emergency C-Section at the public hospital in Solola, Guatemala. She spent her first seven weeks of life being cared for here. As her mother, I was visiting her and spent many hours in this hospital and my heart was so touched by how hard-working all the doctors and nurses were despite being so underfunded and working with VERY limited resources. This hospital was tragically under-resourced on many levels but the team here were doing the best they could to work with what they have.

<div>To anyone who has visited Lake Atitlan and fallen in love with the local Mayan people, this is a beautiful way to support. This hospital mainly caters to Mayans from the lake and surrounding areas and this is where life begins for many of the babies born at the lake. The NICU journey is an intense journey for mothers and babies and this is a ward that could really use some extra funding and support.

<div>We owe Oriah's life to the team at Solola Hospital and for that we are looking to give back. The intensive care unit for babies at the Solola public hospital has around 30 infant patients on the ward at all times. It's a very busy ward that is in need of so many basic supplies, the biggest being a water filter so they have access to clean water to mix with the formulas for feeding. They are also in need of breat milk pumps to lend to the mothers so more of the babies can be fed their mothers milk from the beginning. Another small thing that would make a huge difference is comfortable nursing chairs for all the mamas who have to nurse their babies in there all hours of the day. There are many other necessities that this hospital ward needs and I am in contact with the main Doctor who is in charge of this ward to make sure that the money donated goes to where it is needed the most.

<div>Oriah is turning 1 on May 28th and this is a huge milestone considdering how tough her entry in to life has been. When she was born she was given at %5 survival rate. She has overcame so many severe battles in her first year of life but the battle isn't over. Her entire first year of life she has needed almost full time oxygen support, many medications, many doctors visits. So far we have spent around $USD 30,000 on all her medical bills. We have scrambled to find all the money and to keep up with her medical needs and... we are struggeling to keep up. She will likely continue to need oxygen support and many more medicine treatments for at least another year if not longer.

<div>Because she is on oxygen support, we can't travel with her. We can't go back to our home countries where we could earn more money. We luckily have a few small incomes here in Guatemala but we are not earning enough to pay for all her medical needs.
</div>

<div>While the community library is being built in central Nepal, I've teamed up with another organization called KarmaFlights that serves other marginalized areas.

<div>This year, I will spend my Thanksgiving trekking for a cause. KarmaFlights is a non-profit organization that believes the issue of poverty in Nepal can be solved through education. Their projects provide the most marginalized communities with long-term support so that they may remain physically healthy and have access to a proper education.
</div>

<div>At the end of November, I will join KarmaFlights in trekking to the small mountain villages in Western Nepal. These villages are part of Rukum District and only have road access up to a certain elevation. <div><span style="font-size:1.0625rem;">I decided to champion this annual project after completing the Annapurna Circuit because I know first hand how cold it can be at over 16,000 feet. I've seen the way locals live and go to school in uninsulated (&amp; unheated) structures, and I understand that it is always cold in the mountain villages of Northwest Nepal. Karmaflights has been carrying out this project since 2015 and has delivered warm winter coats to over 10,500 school children. The schools and homes are still not completely rebuilt after the devastating Nepal earthquake of 2015 and later the COVID-19 and long time lockdown has completely paralyzed the local economy. Because of extreme poverty and illiteracy, parents are not able to afford the basic needs of children. This project will encourage school enrollment on the coldest of days, discourage school drop outs and more than anything, one coat can keep a child warm and safe from the potential cold borne diseases like pneumonia, cough and cold etc. (Specifically because a proper medical facility is hours away).</span>

<div>100% of your donation will go directly towards the coats that I will be hand delivering to the students. Each coat costs $10 and they're manufactured in Kathmandu to provide jobs to the local people.

<div>The funds will be used to produce the quality puffy jackets in Nepal. (Made in Nepal brand with the logo patch of KarmaFlights). Most funds will be used to buy the fabrics in local markets of Kathmandu and then the quantity of jackets will be made with maximum quality so the jackets can last at least 2 years. At least 20 local people will get a full time job with competitive wages for at least one month.

<div>Leading up to the jacket distribution, I will be volunteering with KarmaFlights to implement other previously fundraised projects in Northwest Nepal. As I complete projects and get to know the communities, I will share updates with each of you so that you may get to know the Nepali villages where your donor dollar is serving.

Its been a painful journey to witness our loved one in such pain and anguish, and certainly a great challenge for him to stay motivated and driven in his rehabilitation and adaption with this ongoing discomfort.

From the onset of Aaron's accident, I have often found myself shocked at the expense of therapies and technologies that aid this population to living more easefully and gracefully... for this population is often left in the position of limited employment opportunities. Its for this reality that we turn to you.... family, friends, neighbors, community members. Its due to our pooled and shared generosity that we can even fathom obtaining these devices for Aaron. Pain Management with Wearable Therapy for Aaron

As many of you already know, on July 4, 2020 my 28-year old brother, Aaron had a life altering surf accident that left him paralyzed. Its been a challenging time for my brother and our whole family as he adapts to life without his former abilities. <br /><br />This adaption has demanded flexibility in how Aaron navigates his day-to-day life, limitations in access and pressingly, navigating the "system." <br /><br />I started Aaron's application for in-home services back in September and unfortunately, we have faced one delay or obstacle after another. As a result, Aaron has had to pay out-of-pocket for home health aides to support him in his daily care, which has lead to his funds rapidly dissolving. From medical equipment to home retrofits, navigating the expenses of spinal cord injury has truly "broken the bank."<br /><br />I spoke with a case manager this past Tuesday who assured me that Aaron's case will be assigned to a case worker within the next week. From this point, it can take up to 45 days for Aaron to be approved for home health care coverage. On average, Aaron spends $3,000 a month on home health aides. I would love to crowd source this expense up until Aaron's benefits kick it. It is my hope that by eliminating one of his financial burdens, we can better create the circumstances for him to focus his energy and attention more fully to his rehabilitation and adaption to daily life living as a quadriplegic. <br /><br />They say, "Many hands make light work." Are you in the position to lend a hand? Even the smallest contribution, when given by many, can help move a mountain. <br /><br />I know its been a hard year for all of us. Caregiver Support For Aaron

In the early morning hours of December 25th, Oliver Merivee, founder of the Fungi Academy and a light in the mycological, psychedelic, and Lake Atitlan community, died suddenly and tragically. <br /><br />Oliver passed away in the Lake he held so close to his heart and soul, falling from a cliff and hitting his head on a rock before descending into the Lake’s unfathomable depths and entering the afterlife.<br /><br />Oliver was a brother, lover, healer, leader, visionary, and a source of inspiration to countless people. His story started from very humble beginnings in Estonia and continued in its modest way until only just recently. <br /><br />Oliver never graduated high school and had almost nothing to his name yet found the courage within himself to travel the world once he turned 18, begging for food and water on the streets of Mexico when he hit hard times. <br /><br />His love for Sacred Mushrooms was known to many, and he credited their healing power in helping him become a more empathetic, caring, generous human being and freeing himself from tobacco addiction. It was this deeply held belief in Sacred Mushrooms’ healing powers and their ability to change the world that led to the creation of the Fungi Academy. <br /><br />When Oliver’s world-spanning journey landed him on the shores of Lake Atitlan, he felt called to settle there and began sharing the magic of mushrooms with as many people as he could. He, along with close friends Tannel and Silvan, began to create a space where people could feel welcome, safe, and supported in their own healing. <br /><br />Set atop a hillside overlooking San Marcos la Laguna, the Fungi Academy, Oliver’s life work and a project that changed so many lives for the better, was born. <br /><br />Now, it is on us to continue Oliver’s legacy and push the Fungi Academy phenomenon forward into a new age without ever forgetting the man and ethos behind it.<br /><br />We’re all devastated by Oliver's loss and are utterly unprepared for the high cost of a funeral service, especially since in Guatemala, the system to retrieve a body is tedious, slow, and expensive. <br /><br />The Fungi Academy was also under Oliver’s name, so there are legal entanglements that currently prevent us from being able to access and pay for the services using the school’s few funds. <br /><br />Oliver was an exceedingly generous soul, always sharing any resources he had with the less fortunate. <br /><br />When the coronavirus descended onto Guatemala this Spring, he ran a fundraiser for the local Mayan community so they could afford the extreme price increases for basic staples like corn. When a tragic landslide hit San Marcos this summer, he continued this mission, providing those who’d lost their home with food and sweets.<br /><br />Oliver deserves a memorial and we feel it’s our duty to provide one in proportion to the grand man he was. We also feel, given his sudden passing, that he needs a chance to say goodbye to his family.<br /><br />As such, we’re currently asking for donations to help cover the cost of Oliver’s memorial, including the expense of retrieving and cremating the body. We’re also seeking donations to help fund the cost of bringing Oliver’s Estonian family to the Lake to attend the memorial, which we estimate will be held some time in April. <br /><br />We’ve estimated these costs at $10,000 ($6,000 for retrieval and cremation, $4,000 for the travel costs of Oliver’s family). The deadline is April 1st, 2021. <br /><br />Please consider donating anything you can. <span>The horrific torture and death of Tata Domingo Choc is reprehensible. Simply for preserving his indigenous tradition and culture. He was burned alive while an entire crowd watch and filmed his death rather than helping him. He spent his entire life dedicated to spirituality and to the learning of the healing of plants and because of the indoctrination of the indigenous people he was found to be a “sinner” and a “witch” and killed. This bigotry, racism and prejudice is nothing new to the Mayan spiritual community and this is our opportunity to support his family and his community. May Ahau bless his spirit and those of his loved ones and may his horrific passing awakened the masses. </span>
