Our Children Need Medicine Too — and Winter Is Approaching in Gaza Dear friends and supporters, When I last wrote to you, I shared the painful reality of my children asking for food, school clothes, and basic supplies. Thanks to the kindness of so many of you, we have continued trying to meet our family's needs through incredibly difficult circumstances. Today, I want to share another part of our daily struggle: our children's health and the growing cost of medical care. Recently, I attended a free medical day organized in cooperation with the Medical Relief Society and coordinated by the Al-Daraj and Qarqash neighborhood committee. I was genuinely happy to see people coming together to help our community, and I was able to receive medical care myself. Initiatives like this bring hope, and I am deeply grateful to everyone working to support our people. However, the available medicines were not sufficient to meet all our needs. When medicines are unavailable, we must try to buy them from pharmacies, where prices have become very difficult for struggling families to afford. My little son Yousef has been sick for the past two days, and I have had to purchase medicine for him from a pharmacy. As a father, I want to be able to provide my children with the care they need whenever they become ill. Yet even something as basic as buying medicine can become a serious financial burden. And now, winter is approaching. Alongside food, school expenses, and medical needs, we must also think about warm clothes, blankets, and protecting our children from the cold. These needs keep growing, while the money we receive often disappears quickly because of rising prices. I know that many of you have already given so generously, and I never take your support for granted. Every donation, every monthly contribution, and every share of this campaign has helped us keep going. Thank you to everyone who continues to stand beside my family, including those who have recently contributed. Your kindness means more to us than I can express. If you are able to help again, even a small donation can help us purchase food, medicine, or other essential supplies for our children. If donating is not possible right now, sharing our campaign with others can also make a difference. We are still working toward our fundraising goal, but reaching that goal is not simply about a number. It is about helping us meet our children's everyday needs and face the coming winter with a little more security and hope. Thank you for remembering us, for caring about our children, and for continuing to stand with our family in Gaza. May you and your loved ones be blessed with health, safety, and peace. With heartfelt gratitude, Jad Murad and family ❤️
“Dad… we need clothes for school.” This is what my children have been asking me for lately. They ask me: “Dad, when will you get us school clothes?” “When will we be ready like the other children?” But before the clothes, before school, before anything else… “Dad… we’re hungry.” My children have gone two days without food, and I stand in front of them not knowing what to say. At the beginning of the war, our campaign was moving forward. By God’s grace, and because of the kind people who stood beside us, we were able to keep going and provide some of the basic needs for our children and family. But today, everything has changed. The campaign has almost completely stopped. Without the monthly donations from a few people who continue to stand with us, we would not be able to get through. And because of the enormous rise in prices, even those monthly donations barely last us a few days of the month. The school term was originally supposed to begin on September 16, but it has now been postponed to September 19. My children are asking me for school clothes and supplies, but today I am struggling just to put food on the table. Today, one of my children said something that broke my heart: “Dad… it feels like nobody donates to us anymore or stands with us.” I didn’t know what to tell them. So today, I want to ask you clearly: If you are able to donate, please donate now. Even $10, $20, or $50 can help us buy food, ease this pressure, and help me prepare my children for school. We do not need only large donations. Many small donations can make a real difference for us right now. And if you are able to make your support monthly, that would help us even more, because we need something we can rely on to provide food and basic needs for our children. If you cannot donate, please share our campaign. Your share may reach someone who can help us. We are not asking for luxury. We are asking to feed our children, clothe them, and send them to school like other children. Please help us today. We need you now. "Donate directly to Jihad and his children’s
Investing in Our Children’s Future as a New School Year Begins ❤️ Dear Friends and Supporters, As the new school year approaches on September 14, 2026, I have been thinking more and more about my children — Maher, Eileen, and Yousef — and their education and future. Because of the war and the extremely difficult circumstances we have experienced, my children were not able to begin their education at the age they normally should have. As time passes and they grow, I feel an even greater responsibility to give them a real opportunity to learn, make up for what they have missed, and build a better future. My simple hope is to see them in a proper learning environment — a place where they can sit, learn, make friends, and enjoy the simple happiness of being children. To understand exactly what we would need, I sat down with my wife, Walaa, and my brother Khader, who contributed his experience as a teacher and educator. Together, we discussed the children’s educational needs and carefully calculated the expected costs for the first semester. Estimated cost for one child for the first semester: 1,300–1,400 NIS, approximately $430–$465 USD. This includes school fees, school clothing, essential stationery, temporarily printed textbooks, and basic school expenses. I know this represents an additional financial responsibility, but I do not see education as simply an expense. For me, it is an investment in my children, their confidence, their opportunities, and the future I pray they will be able to build. I’m sharing this update through our GoFundMe campaign to keep everyone who has followed our journey and stood beside our family informed about what we are going through and the step we are trying to take for our children’s education. Thank you to everyone who has supported us, shared our story, encouraged us, or kept our family in your thoughts and prayers. Your kindness and generosity mean more to us than words can express. We Will Keep Flying After the recent reports about treating the kites flown by children in Gaza as a threat, I felt that the best response I could give was to share this small moment from our life. In this video, you can see me, my sister Maram, and my children flying a simple kite carrying the colors of Palestine. This is not a drone. It carries no weapon. It carries no missile. It is a child’s toy. In Gaza, we make our children’s toys from the simplest things we can find, because we simply cannot afford to buy many toys. And yet, our children are still children… They want to laugh, run, and look up at the sky with a kite they made with their own hands. So if the sky becomes too small even for a child’s kite… we will keep flying it. We will keep playing. We will keep laughing. And we will keep teaching our children that Palestine is not only what we see in the midst of all this pain, but also childhood, life, and dreams. ❤️ I’m sharing this small moment with my family today so you can see Gaza as we experience it… Children trying to create a moment of joy in the middle of all this pain.
