<div>Hi, we’re Bianca and Daniel — a couple with a big love for animals and an even bigger heart for rescue. Over the past five years, we’ve opened our home to a growing number of both adopted cats and stray or abandoned cats who have found their way to our property, many in desperate need of care, safety, and love.

<div>As our feline family grows, we’re faced with a challenge: we simply don’t have enough indoor space to safely house all 10 of them. Some of the cats we've rescued are living with FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) and cannot be housed with the other cats due to the risk of transmission. Others have special needs or behavioural issues and need to be separated from the rest of the group for their safety and wellbeing.

<div>Malu is a street dog from Jimbaran in Bali. She is only five years of age and still young, with so much life left to live. Malu has spent her years living on the streets - quiet, cautious, and unassuming.
</div>

<div>For most of her short life, Malu has survived thanks to local street feeders, a group of volunteers who dedicate their time, resources, and compassion to feed and care for stray and starving animals. Although Malu is fearful of humans, she has gradually developed a bond with the local feeders, showing her gratitude for their love and care in her own quiet way.

<div>A few weeks ago, Malu’s health began to noticeably deteriorate. She was struggling to breathe, struggled to walk, had stopped eating, and worst of all she had developed a growing lump on her neck. Her feeders stepped in to get her the help she needed, tranquilising her before transporting her to the local vet.<strong> </strong>

<div><strong>The diagnosis: Lymphoma.</strong>
</div>

</div>
<div>The local vet acted swiftly. The buildup of fluid in her lungs was drained making it easier for her to breath, and medication was immediately prescribed to alleviate the symptoms.
</div>

</div>
<div>But Malu isn’t out of danger yet. <strong>She now needs Chemotherapy to survive</strong>.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>So far, Malu has responded well to treatment and one round of Chemotherapy, however without more Chemotherapy, the cancer will return — and Malu won’t survive. Chemotherapy is her only chance.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Malu doesn’t have an owner. She has survived to date thanks to the love and care of local street feeders. <strong>But that is no longer enough and now she urgently needs your help!</strong>

Time Is Running Out for Malu: Please Help Her Beat Cancer.

<div>Harlow turned 8 at the end of June, it was a great celebration. Sadly, a week later Harlow experienced her first seizure which lasted over an hour. The following is Harlow's story as explained by her mom, Dale.
</div>

</div>
<div>On Friday, July 4th, Dave was painting a room upstairs so Harlow and I had an overall chill day. She got a little extra screen time in the evening as we were going to stay up a bit later than usual to watch some fireworks in the neighborhood and set off some sparklers. She typically goes to bed between 7:30-8. This particular evening she got to bed around 10. At 10:30 I went to bed and around 11 Dave went to bed. At that time everything was all good on the baby monitor in her room. A little while before midnight I woke up because I could hear her snoring on the monitor. I chalked it up to her being overtired as it’s common for her to snore in that type of situation. After a few minutes of trying to go back to sleep her snoring was sounding odd so I woke Dave up and asked him to check the monitor screen (it’s on his side). He looked and said she was on her side as usual (our monitor is old and the picture is grainy) so I tried to go back to sleep for a few more minutes. Finally around 12 I was like ‘something isn’t right’, her snoring almost sounded wet and I thought she may have thrown up so I went in to check on her. The second I got in her room I saw her whole body shaking with her eyes WIDE open. She was gasping for air and her pillow, teddy bear and bed area around her were soaked in drool. We immediately called 911. She was unresponsive to us and wouldn’t come out of the seizure. Fire got to us first and provided oxygen then paramedics arrived and administered anti seizure meds (around 12:30am) but even after that it took her a few minutes to come out of it. She had to be ventilated on the way to the ER as she was still struggling to breathe. Harlow didn’t speak until after 3am. The ER doctor took bloodwork and sent us home at 4:30am when everything came back ‘normal’. We got home and she slept for awhile but after she woke she was complaining about her head, eyes and chest hurting as well as having a hard time getting some sentences fully formed so I called her pediatrician and she instructed we take her back in and ask for some testing due to how long the seizure lasted. Five hours after being back at the ER Harlow got an EEG which came back abnormal. She displayed discharges for both focal and generalized seizures so they admitted us (diagnosed her with focal epilepsy) and got her on a loading dose of Keppra. The next morning she had an MRI which I haven’t been able to discuss with her neurologist yet but there are some things on there that sound concerning (mild PVL, mild hypoplasia of the corpus callosum and chiari l malformation).

<div>Harlow has always been a little different from her peers. She’s very smart but has very low muscle tone and strength and has always been behind on her milestones, gross and fine motor skills.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Another thing to note (and I know this might sound crazy) is that she got a new teddy bear for her birthday. It had lavender beads inside and you can heat it up in the microwave. She was sleeping with that during the incident and it was soaked almost like she had the bears ear in her mouth when seizing. Between that, the paint fumes in the house, the fireworks, extra screen time and staying up late it seems as if this was all the perfect storm for her condition to show itself. I also believe that she has had smaller seizures that maybe we missed (gut feeling) but this was the first time we ever witnessed anything.

</div>
<div>Back in April Harlow had a hard fall from trying to do the monkey bars at a playground (she isn’t strong enough to do these yet so she fell immediately and hit the back of her head/neck right where the chiari I malformation would be). She came over to me crying that her forehead hurt but I didn’t see the fall itself. The ER told us she was fine, no testing was done. Then in May she fell while playing outside and landed on her chin fracturing her alveolar bone and displacing all her front lower teeth. When I saw her (again, I didn’t see the fall itself) she was just laying there in a pool of blood, not crying at all but was confused and her eyes didn’t look right. My gut is telling me these incidents are connected somehow. I believe her dental injury could have happened during a small seizure.

<div>Harlow was delivered vaginally but she was sunny side up so she was stuck while I pushed for about 3 hours. At that point the doctor said we needed to try the vacuum and if that didn’t work we’d be brought back for a cesarean. The vacuum worked but she was very swollen from the trauma of being stuck. From what I understand about her MRI results at this point her findings could have been due to birth trauma or the way her brain formed during infancy.

<div>This past week has been a trying time for our family as we navigate Harlow’s new normal and what she needs after this diagnosis while the world continues to turn around us. With everyone’s help thus far we have been able to purchase a seizure alert camera for her room, a safe floor bed for her as well as many of the other little items she’ll need for her day to day life and put some money aside for her upcoming medical bills.

Support Harlow's Journey with Epilepsy

<div>Our daughter, <strong>Ryan Michelle</strong>, has been battling epilepsy since she was three years old. She is diagnosed with focal epilepsy and suffers from refractory myoclonic seizures. In her case, "refractory myoclonic seizures" indicates that her seizures are particularly stubborn and have not been effectively controlled by previous interventions, including multiple brain surgeries.

<div>Currently, Ryan is undergoing surgery for a VNS implant, another vital step in managing her condition. In our ongoing efforts to support Ryan, we've applied for a specially trained seizure dog from <a href="https://www.4pawsforability.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">4 Paws for Ability</a> .  This specially trained companion will offer vital support, potentially alerting us to seizures and providing assistance when they occur, allowing Ryan to live her life more safely and freely.

<div>Lachie had his first seizure at three months old in January of 2023. Little did his parents, Jason and Ally know, that this would be the first of many.
</div>
<div>Many ambulance trips, hospital admissions, multiple injections, lots of heartbreaks and far too many life threatening seizures.
</div>
<div>Lachie went through countless amounts of testing. This finally led to his diagnosis of a very rare gene mutation, linked with a severe form of epilepsy that is resistant to treatment, known as Dravet syndrome.
</div>

<div>Lachie currently has hundreds of myoclonic seizures every single day (yes hundreds), and convulsive tonic clonic seizures averaging two a week, that require a rescue medication at home, which lead to ambulance trips back to the hospital.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>At times Lachies seizures can be extremely difficult to stop and in these cases, he has been required to be intubated in ICU. Even the common cold or illness will continue to land him back in the hospital and potentially means more ICU admissions. He is currently on five different medications which sadly are yet to give him any control of his seizures.
</div>

</div>
<div>Jason, Ally and Lachies lives have forever been turned upside down. They are living a very isolated life and have endured countless sleepless nights, living in constant fear of what the next day may bring and not knowing what the future holds for their Lachie.
</div>

</div>
<div>To give you just a tiny snapshot into their life with Lachie, imagine being scared to change your baby's nappy or feed them as he may have a seizure. Imagine being too scared to leave the house or have friends visit as their child may give Lachie a cold that risks putting him in an induced coma.
</div>
<div>Imagine your camera roll being full of seizure videos and pictures of hospital visits when it should instead be full of their happy memories as a family.
</div>
<div>Always making sure hospital bags are packed.
</div>
<div>Awaiting that dreaded phone call from one parent to the other "Lachies having a seizure".

<div>Jason and Ally have had to become full-time carers since February with the likelihood of only one of them ever returning to work.

<div>Lachie is going to need lifelong support through the help of many different therapies and specialists.

<div>They are very grateful for the love and support of their friends and family but we all know the financial burden this places on them. Let’s rally together and help them in any way that we can. Lachie’s lifelong battle with severe epilepsy

<div>Their bond is incredibly deep, like no other, looking after Munchkin is part of Mum’s daily joy and purpose. One of the little things that brings Mum happiness is picking up Munchkins special food for her every few days, its mums ritual &amp; grounding, My heart glows at how much mums daily happiness comes from nurturing her with love and care.

<div>Recently, Munchkin has fallen seriously unwell and stopped eating for a week &amp; is extremely low on liquids &amp; hasn't had any bowel movements.

<div>The vet has recommended hospitilization to us asap &amp; further testing and treatments that will cost cost upwards of $2,000–$3,000. We’ve covered the initial visit &amp; were able to cover some medication to comfort her vomiting &amp; encourage eating for the next day or so but any further care is financially out of reach.

<div>The vet advised that euthanasia is the best solution if funds can't be provided &amp; i find this absolutely heartbreaking, mum is completely devastated &amp; lost for word... i am writing this without her knowledgeas we speak, we will NOT stand for euthanasia of an extraordinary &amp; deeply loved beautiful girl thats simply in need of some urgent veterinary care.

<div>Mum has struggled with more than she should ever have to over the years like so many of us &amp; i will do everything i can to support a woman who more than deserves it when she can't ask for help herself fue to so much trauma... through turning so much pain into love, and munchkin being part of that, I won't see someone I love loose something they adore &amp; cherish, over money without a damn good fighting chance...

<div>Mum is on a disability pension, managing epilepsy &amp; mental health support and I’m doing everything I can to advocate for and support mum during this time as her daughter, especially after recently going through a major personal loss of my own. We are NOT giving up on Munchkin.
