Jane Pimentel has quickly emerged as a standout competitor on the national stage in Para Sailing. She captured the Silver Medal in the Martin 16 class at the U.S. Para Sailing Championship, representing Longshore Sailing School in Westport, CT, held at Coronado Yacht Club in September 2025. Prior to this event, Jane competed in the Robie Pierce Regatta, placing first in the Women's event, held at Larchmont Yacht Club in May of 2025, Sailing has been a lifelong passion for Jane. After a ten-year break from competition, she returned to the sport through the Para sailing community, where she found both opportunity and encouragement. Despite new physical challenges, Jane embraced adaptive sailing wholeheartedly, proving that her competitive spirit and love for the water remain as strong as ever. Jane’s journey is more than a return to racing — it’s a testament to perseverance, adaptability, and the inclusive power of sport. Beyond competition, she is deeply passionate about water sports safety, sailing/powerboat education, and removing barriers for anyone interested in experiencing not just the thrill of sailing but the sense of peace and freedom that comes from time on the water. Jane’s career reflects a deep passion for sailing education. As operator of Longshore Sailing School in Westport, CT, she has dedicated herself to teaching thousands of students the fundamentals of sailing, paddling and powerboat operation, always with a focus on safety, seamanship, and accessibility. Her commitment to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment has set a high standard for sailing instruction nationwide. In recognition of her contributions, Jane received the 2023 Virginia Long Sail Training Service & Support Award from US Sailing, honoring her leadership, dedication, and impact on the growth of sailing education in the United States. Jane has permanent nerve damage from decades of orthopedic procedures, which affects balance, strength, and agility — but adaptive sailing allows her to keep competing at a high level.
