I’m a postpartum doula, and I’m asking for help as I take the next step toward becoming certified as a live birth doula. As a single parent supporting my household on one income, this is an investment I simply cannot make out of my personal budget right now, even though it would help me grow in the work I care deeply about.
I have the opportunity to attend the SMC Full Circle Doula Birth Companion Training in Boston, Massachusetts, from November 12–15, 2026. This is a four-day, 32-hour, in-person program designed for dual training in labor and postpartum doula care. The training includes hands-on learning in prenatal and pregnancy support, labor and delivery, comfort measures, postpartum and infant care, breastfeeding, maternal and infant health, culturally competent care, and building a professional doula business. Registration fees must be paid at least 30 days before the first day of training, so I need to prepare for these costs in advance.
Funds will help cover:
$1,748 for training and materials
Round-trip airfare from Savannah to Boston
Hotel accommodations
Rental car or other transportation
Meals and other travel expenses
I’m not asking for help with just a class. This support would be an investment in my profession and in the care I want to bring back to families in my community.
My goal through Jah’Va the Doula is to provide knowledgeable, compassionate, and culturally aware support to women and families during pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. I hope to continue offering postpartum recovery support, breastfeeding assistance, newborn support, companionship, light household support, postpartum education, wellness support, and connections to community resources.
If you’re able to give or share this fundraiser, thank you. Your support would help make this training possible and help me continue building a path to serve mothers and families with care, education, and compassion.
