<div>Lydia Miller-Wyatt exited stage left in the quiet hours of April 21, 2026 but only after living big and unapologetically bold for eighty-three years. She was a force in the Texas University Interscholastic League's (UIL) academic competitions from her own participation as a student to directing One Act Play, coaching events, contest managing and adjudicating. It is only appropriate that a Texas Interscholastic League scholarship, administered through UIL, be created in her honor to recognize students that have competed at the UIL Academic State Meet, Congressional Debate State Meet, One-Act Play State Meet, OR must have advanced to the octofinal round (second day) of the Cross Examination Debate State Meet. Establishing an endowment requires 25K (the goal) which will provide scholarships in perpetuity, or the amount donated will provide annual funding until depleted.

Lisa Landry and her two children are facing an unimaginable loss after the sudden passing of her husband, John 'JP' Landry. John was a beloved theatre teacher whose passion for the arts touched countless students and families. He was known for his larger-than-life personality, his joy, and the light he spread everywhere he went. John was an entertainer, teacher, artist, and scholar—a husband, dad, son, brother, and friend who lived a life full of love. He and Lisa worked side by side, inspiring young performers and building a strong, supportive community. His unexpected passing has left a deep void in the lives of those who knew him, especially his wife and their two young children, ages 10 and 11.

 As Lisa and her kids begin to navigate life without John, they are facing not only emotional heartbreak but also significant financial challenges. With only one salary now, the burden of funeral expenses and ongoing support for the family is overwhelming. The community is coming together to help ease this burden and show Lisa and her children that they are not alone.

There are so many creative and passionate young people in our community, and many of them come from low-income households. While they have the drive and talent to excel, they simply don’t have the financial means to attend a two-week-long summer theatre camp. These camps are more than just a fun experience—they provide proper theatrical training, help students gain confidence, and give them skills that will not only advance their own talents but also contribute to the growth of their school’s theatre programs.

 I am reaching out because I want to give high-achieving students from multiple theatre programs the very best. The funds raised will go directly toward scholarships that cover the entire cost of tuition, room, board, and all meals for the camp. I will personally make sure the students get there and will cover any additional costs for makeup kits or other necessities that may arise. Your support will help remove the financial barriers that stand in the way of these deserving students and allow them to pursue their passion for the arts.

 In these times, the arts are always the first cut and the first thing ridiculed. It takes a strong-minded individual to want to stand up and spend their free time in the box of misfit toys.
