My name is Iraida, and I am reaching out for help during one of the hardest times in my life. For the past four months, I have been struggling to find work, even though I am in the health care field. The job search has been exhausting and discouraging, and now I am facing the possibility of losing my car, as well as having my electricity and water cut off. I feel like I am drowning, and the stress has been overwhelming.

 Thankfully, I am in the process of getting a new job, but I won’t receive my first paycheck in time to cover these urgent bills. The funds from this fundraiser will go directly toward keeping my car, paying my utility bills, and making sure I have a stable foundation to start this new chapter. This support will help me bridge the gap until I am back on my feet and able to support myself again.

But today, that strength is being tested in the most brutal way imaginable. And his own burden he cannot carry anymore.

<div><strong>Miguel Marquez has been diagnosed with bone marrow cancer</strong>—a rare, aggressive disease that is threatening not just his health, but everything he has worked so hard for. It started last year with a prostate cancer diagnosis, which he beat with chemo and radiation. Unfortunately, when prostate cancer returns and has spread (metastasized) to the bones and bone marrow, it’s considered advanced or stage 4 prostate cancer. Even though it's incurable, it is often treatable—and patients can live meaningful lives for years with the right combination of treatments and support.

<div>Our dad was the one who never asked for help. He is the one who worked two and three jobs to take care of his 7 children. He is the one who stayed calm in every storm and always had hope that the storm would pass. He is the one who kept going no matter what and relied on his faith in God to get him through. But naturally, he’s tired. The treatments are exhausting. The hospital bills are mounting. The special diet, supplements, and chemotherapy are expensive. And the fight is far from over.

And why we are asking—from the bottom of our heart—for your help. <strong>Every donation you make will go directly toward:</strong> <strong>Transportation</strong> to and from the cancer center (it's 130 miles round trip) and to physical therapy; Home care, <strong>PPE</strong> (to protect his fragile immune system), and <strong>medical equipment</strong> (he already got a walker, cane, and had some improvements to the bathroom for safety); Covering <strong>basic needs like food and supplements</strong> (he is on a lot of vitamins and an extra-healthy, all-natural diet); and <strong>prescriptions</strong> (for brittle bones, for the nausea, and for the bone pain).
