<div>Hi everybody! My name is Jaylin and I am starting this gofund me for my beautiful friend Laura. Laura (37) is one of my oldest and dearest friends. A couple of weeks ago, after having been sick with covid and feeling like she was not getting better Laura decided to go to the hospital to get checked out. While running the usual tests the hospital did an x-ray and that is when they found tumors on her lungs. While she was in hospital they did a biopsy and just recently the test came back that it is in fact cancer. Laura is a hard working single mom of a little boy who is just turning 6 years old, who himself needs special care. She has done everything she can to provide the best possible life for her son, and now I would like to help her by taking some of the stress off of her so she can get healthy and spend as much time with her son as possible while doing so. She is in the very early stages of her diagnosis and is not really sure of what steps come next. One thing we do know is that she will have many appointments with doctors and specialists to create a plan for treatment. This will involve time off work, and trips from where she lives in Kamloops down to the cancer clinic in Vancouver, which will involve travel expenses and hotel stays while she is there. I hope we can help cover some of her expenses and give her the best possible chance of beating this so she can continue to be an amazing mom to Jordan. Please help in whatever way you can, if you can't donate then please just share so we can reach as many people as possible to get help for these two amazing souls. <div>Hi, my name is Frank Assu, and we are fundraising in memory of my Mom Brenda Assu. She passed away on March 13, 2023.

<div>Brenda was an amazing, kind, loving, and inspiring woman. She was a mom to two children, five grandchildren, one great grand-daughter, and another great grand-child on the way. She was married to her husband Bill Assu for 52 years.
</div>

<div>Brenda spent 26 years as an Indigenous Education Assistant at Quadra Island Elementary School.
</div>

<div>In her honour, the family is raising funds to donate a bench for the school, and a plaque for the bench as well as for her "Frog" room door. The "Frog" is her family clan, and the door to her old room has a frog on it. We want to add a plaque for the door.

<div>He is a huge family man, a loving father to Kenzie (13) and Kinley (6), husband to Kerry, brother”-in-law”, uncle, son and friend.

<div>A few weeks ago, Kyle was diagnosed with stage 3 gastroesophageal junction cancer. 


</div>


<div><br />
</div>


<div>He will soon be travelling to Victoria for an extended stay to start treatment including Chemotherapy and Radiation to hopefully shrink his tumours. 


</div>


<div>Following multiple weeks of treatment, he will undergo an extensive surgery in an attempt to remove the tumours and rebuild his stomach and esophagus.
He will then continue to undergo Chemotherapy and Radiation in addition to immunotherapy etc. 


</div>

<div> The doctors have estimated that this process will take up to a year or more if all goes according to plan but have also advised there could be many ups and downs and changes to this plan depending on how Kyle responds to each step of treatments and surgery.


</div>

<div> For the past year, Kyle has been on a leave as a Sheriff due to a workplace injury that required major ankle surgery and rehab. 


</div>


<div>From that injury, he developed Complex Regional Pain Syndrome which is a nerve disorder that has made him unable to get back to daily activities including driving or returning to work. 


</div>

<div> It has already been a difficult year with many changes and this diagnosis has certainly added to it in a big way. 


</div>

<div> Kerry and Kyle are both usually the "helpers" and never ask for anything, but now they need your support. 


</div>

<div> Our hope for Kyle and Kerry is to be able to have as much precious family time as possible as there are many unknowns for the outcome of his diagnosis. For Kerry to be able to be by his side throughout treatments and surgery without either of them having to worry and stress about making ends meet financially would be a huge gift.

<div> All funds donated will go directly to Kyle and his family to support them through this journey including lengthly out of town accommodations, travel, additional medical expenses/supplies/treatments/medications, along with anything else needed to get them through this time.
