<div>On May 26th, 2025, Sandra Malibu Sweeney lost her beloved son, Evan Clark, in a tragic and violent crime. As Sandra faces the unimaginable grief of losing Evan, this fundraiser has been created to help ease the financial pressures that come with such a devastating loss.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>All funds raised will go directly to an account accessible only by Sandra, ensuring that every dollar supports her as she grieves and begins to heal. Funds will also be used for Sandra to throw a celebration of life in Evan’s honor.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Whether you’re able to make a donation or simply share this fundraiser, your kindness and generosity mean the world to Evan’s family. Thank you for standing by them in this difficult time.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Here is a statement from Sandra:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I am Sandra Malibu Sweeney and Evan Clark was my only child and my beloved son. This last week Evan was taken from me, and my level of grief feels insurmountable. I find myself at a complete loss to imagine a life without him. It is a small comfort to share some things about this boy who was on his way to becoming a wonderful man.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Evan wasn’t a typical teenager. He was funny, bright, kind and entrepreneurial. He was an old soul who was sensitive and loving. Evan wrote me letters, the last of which he gave me on Mother’s Day that was so touching it made me both laugh and cry. He was special. He deserved a long life.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Evan enjoyed working at Crumbl Cookies, going to concerts, photography, cars and trips to Malibu, CA. Evan attended Rancho Solano where he was a popular student and enjoyed wonderful faculty and friends. He then attended Veritas Prep where he made additional strong friendships and played on the football team. Evan spent his final school year at Arcadia High School where he flourished socially.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The outpouring of concern from these communities has meant so very much to me. I sincerely thank every person who has reached out to offer compassion and sympathy. The kindness I have been shown has touched me greatly. Thank you all.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>“Let go of the past, let go of the future, let go of the present, and cross to the far shore. With the mind and body liberated, you shall suffer no more.”

<div>Stand with Juan Cristobal Flores Local Opera Singer
</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>On Friday, December 26, at approximately 9:30 a.m., Juan Cristobal Flores, a beloved local opera singer and University of Arizona student, was critically injured during a double shooting at a Goodwill donation center in Tucson, where he is working full-time.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>Juan Cristobal is now in critical condition at a local hospital, fighting for his life. Known in the Tucson arts community for his powerful voice and gentle spirit, Juan Cristobal is a dedicated opera singer who had already performed with Arizona Opera and the Tucson Symphony Orchestra. Music is not just something he studied — it is who he is. Friends, mentors, and fellow musicians describe him as extraordinarily talented, disciplined, and kind, with a future full of promise.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>This sudden, senseless act of violence has devastated his family and shaken our local arts and faith communities.

</div>

<div>As Juan Cristobal remains hospitalized, his loved ones are facing overwhelming medical expenses, long-term recovery costs, and the emotional toll of being at his bedside day and night.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>We are asking our community to come together to support Juan Cristobal and his family during this unimaginable time.

</div>

<div>Every donation — no matter the size — will go directly toward medical care, ongoing treatment, and essential living expenses as he fights to survive.

</div>

<div>If you cannot donate, please consider sharing this page. Awareness and community support

</div>

<div>truly matter.

</div>

<div>Juan Cristobal has spent his life lifting others through music. Now, he needs our voices, our

</div>

<div>prayers, and our help.

</div>

<div>Thank you for standing with Juan Cristobal Flores.

<div>Edit:
</div>
<div>With profound sorrow and faith, we share that Juan Cristobal Fores
has gone to rest in God's eternal embrace.

Juan fought courageously for his life after being shot while working at a Goodwill donation center.

He was a gifted opera singer, a servant-hearted soul, and a beloved son, cousin, and friend whose light touched so many.

His beautiful voice, which brought hope and grace to countless hearts, was silenced by crime— but his spirit will never be silenced.

Though our hearts are broken, we trust that Juan is now at peace, surrounded by divine love.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who prayed, showed up, and stood with us.
We need the continued support of our community to ensure justice is served.
We will not rest until that day comes.

Stand with Juan Cristobal Flores: Local Opera Singer

<div>Dear Friends and Compassionate Hearts,
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We write to you today as parents with troubled but grateful hearts. Just two weeks ago, our 23-year-old daughter Valerie, her dear friend Atahan, and others, boarded a hot air balloon in the desert near Eloy, Arizona. We’re sure it was cold that morning, and that Valerie was excited. We can picture her there; smiling, laughing nervously, and probably cracking some jokes. In our minds, we can hear the little exclamation she always made when something filled her with wonder or excitement, as they lifted off the ground. This was her first time riding in a hot air balloon.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We don't know for sure yet what went wrong. But at some point, there was a catastrophic failure, and the balloon began to quickly descend uncontrollably. In this heart-wrenching incident, four lives were lost, and Valerie has emerged as the sole survivor. Our hearts ache for the families who have lost their loved ones, and our thoughts are with them every day. Unfortunately, we know all too well the grief those families are feeling.
</div>
<div><br />
</div><img class="m-text-editor-image" alt="" media_type="3" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/77897647_1706550540754632_r." width="100%" />
<div>For those who don’t know our family, it was less than two years ago when our family endured another tragedy—the loss of our son, Valerie's brother Ian. In those dark times, even in her own grief, Valerie's resilience and wisdom kept our tight little family on a path of healing.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Now, as we are still grieving that loss, our Valerie lies in a bed in a trauma hospital, her future very uncertain.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Valerie's injuries are extensive. She has many broken bones and has already undergone many surgeries to repair them with possibly more to come. We are grateful to the trauma team, skilled surgeons, flight paramedics, and kind nurses that have cared for, and are continuing to care for Valerie. Her bones will eventually heal, but her ability to walk and otherwise move is uncertain.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Perhaps the greatest challenge she faces, though, is the traumatic brain injury she suffered, the full long-term effects of which also remain uncertain. She currently cannot speak to us. What we do know is that Valerie has a very long road of rehabilitation and care ahead.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Friends, we are so grateful for the outpouring of support we have received from all of you. The main question we receive from you all is "What can we do?"
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>While insurance covers her immediate medical expenses, the long road to rehabilitation and care looms before us, both financially and emotionally.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>After so many inquiries, and encouragement to do so, we wanted to give all of you an avenue to help Valerie directly. So after much thought, we decided to start this campaign. The net proceeds of this campaign will go directly towards Valerie's ongoing rehabilitation and care, which she will probably need for a very long time. This will have a real, direct impact on Valerie's life and recovery.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Those of you that know her know that Valerie would be the one helping others and the last one to accept help for herself. She is so independent and strong-willed. But this horrible situation is one where Valerie will need all the help she can get.
</div>
<div><br />
</div><img class="m-text-editor-image" alt="" media_type="3" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/77897647_170655116614779_r." width="100%" />
<div>Valerie is an extraordinary soul. She is kind-hearted, empathetic, witty, responsible, and creative. She helps clear her own table at restaurants to lighten the staff's load. She used her extensive woodworking skills to build a sturdy wheelchair ramp for her grandmother. She recently adopted a little kitten that needed a forever home. She makes beautiful, useful, wooden objects as well as fun and whimsical wood carvings.
</div>
<div><br />
</div><img class="m-text-editor-image" alt="" media_type="3" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/77897647_170654912429848_r." width="100%" />
<div>As a woodworking instructor at a local Phoenix maker space called The Phoenix Forge, she passionately shares her love of the craft.
</div>
<div><br />
</div><img class="m-text-editor-image" alt="" media_type="3" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/77897647_1706549523998456_r." width="100%" />
<div>Valerie is also a minimalist, cherishing experiences over material possessions. She loves being outside, finding peace in the embrace of nature and exploring her fascination with trees and forests. She likes to live simply and enjoys the simple pleasures in life. She has taught us, her parents, so much about living a good and peaceful life.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The world could use a lot more people like Valerie.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We realize the goal we have set for this campaign is a substantial one. Since Val is just beginning her recovery, we can't know yet the level of care she will need moving forward. We are hoping for the best but planning for the worst. Come what may, reaching this goal will make a meaningful difference for Valerie, even though the true extent of the funds that will be needed is still unfolding.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>By contributing to this campaign, you are becoming part of Valerie's healing journey. We hope that it will be as miraculous as the fact that she is still here with us at all.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Please share her story to help us meet our goal.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>With heartfelt gratitude,
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Tony and Martha Stutterheim
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Note: Due to Valerie’s situation, we, her parents, have set up an account specifically for these funds and will use them solely for her ongoing care.

Help Valerie Heal After Hot Air Balloon Tragedy

<div>My name is Taylor &amp; I am raising money for my little brother, Tucker’s, funeral.
</div>
<div>This morning (July 31st, 2022), he was riding his motorcycle with a few of his friends &amp; was hit by a drunk driver who ran a red light. Despite the surgeons’ best efforts, we lost him this morning.
</div>
<div>He was only 19. He was in school to be an EMT helicopter pilot &amp; was so excited, &amp; we were so proud of him.
</div>
<div>The only thing keeping us going is the fact that he left us doing what he loves. He always said if he went out, he would want it to be on his bike or flying a helicopter. He was happy.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>To say our family is grieving is an understatement, and we are just looking for some help when it comes to funeral expenses. Anything helps &amp; I appreciate you for taking the time to stop by.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>** we are still unsure on when the service will be. updates will be posted here when I’m able to.
