<div>Their condition was horrifying. Mom’s spine and ribs were showing, no milk from being malnourished. The pups were skinny with bloated bellies full of worms. They were starving and dehydrated.

<div>We have had them for a month. We wanted them to feel safe and loved, get them used to other dogs, train them to urinate on puppy pads, also to use the outside and leash train.

<div>Most importantly, before adopting them out, we wanted to make sure they had all their shots, deworming, heartworm prevention, flea/tick prevention, to be spayed and for Mom to have her rabies and heartworm test.

<div>Sadly, Mom has tested<strong><em> positive for heartworms </em></strong>and we are committed to putting her through the treatment and caring for her needs before adopting her to someone. She also needs dental cleaning, possible extraction, because whatever she was eating to survive has caused her back molars to erode, giving her terrible pain. Both these procedures are extremely costly.

<div>My name is Mickie Moore. My daughter, Laura Ashley Moore, will be 39 years old this April. She has battled epilepsy since the age of four. As an adult, she’s had multiple hospitalizations, more medication changes than I can count, and procedures to implant a vagus nerve stimulator and a deep brain stimulator. Improvements have been made, but she has multiple seizures each week that result in a loss of awareness. As vigilant as I try to be, Ashley still falls every six weeks or so. In 2016 she had surgery to repair a broken elbow after a fall. SUDEP (Sudden Death in Epilepsy Patients) is a risk for anyone with uncontrolled seizures and something that is always on my mind.

<div>Seven years ago, Ashley applied for a seizure alert dog from Canine Partners for Life in Cochranville, Pennsylvania and placed on a waitlist. She has FINALLY been matched with her new best friend and protector, a 2 year old yellow lab named Kokuma. This is absolutely LIFE CHANGING for us. Kokuma should be able to alert to her seizures up to an hour before onset.

<div>I’m not one to ask for help, but this is A LOT. We will travel to Pennsylvania in March and spend three weeks in team training at the CPL facility. I have estimated our expenses at somewhere around $8,000-$10,000. We have equipment to purchase, airfare, three weeks of lodging, a rental car, field trips during training, not to mention meals and incidentals. CPL does not require payment for their service animals, but they do ask for a minimal donation, as the cost to raise and train a dog is over $30,000. Laura Ashley's Seizure Alert Dog Expenses

I've been in the ER 3 times already this year. Official diagnosis so far:<br />Heart rhythm abnormalities-PSVT, Orthostatic Hypotension, Dystonia, Myoclonus, Chronic PTSD, Gallbladder polyps &amp; dyskinesia, Psoriasis, Raynaud's disease. I'm waiting on insurance approval to see a specialist at OHSU to be tested for Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome and Dysautonomia. I have my first visit with a Neurologist in a week. I'll have gallbladder surgery soon. My heart condition, PSVT, causes a short circuit my heart resulting in tachycardia, arrhythmias, palpitations, ectopic beats, &amp; in my case causing my heart to suddenly beat at up to 275bpm. Which has the potential to cause cardiac arrest, especially with the other issues. I've had 2 surgeries for this in the past, but they weren't a cure. I've been living with PSVT since the first episode came on when I was just 22yrs old. Some of the other symptoms started after contracting COVID in Jan 2021. I also tested positive for Lymes &amp; Epstein-Barr using a Rife machine, I'm fighting with doctors &amp; insurance to be properly tested &amp; get the right treatments.<br />Disabling symptoms:<br />Syncope(passing out), heart abnormalities, muscle tremors &amp; spasms, gait abnormalities &amp; progressive foot drop, anemia, chronic fatigue, sensory loss, neck pain, balance problems, numbness in hands &amp; feet, ringing in the ears, migraines, gastrointestinal issues, urinary retention, vision issues, excessive sweat or no sweat, heat &amp; cold intolerance, loss of body temperature regulation, constant burning pain in skin, flushing (dry, hot, red face or upper body), multiple hypersensitivities, hives, severe gallbladder pain, bloating, dry eyes &amp; mouth, difficulty sleeping &amp; unrefreshed sleep, difficulty standing or walking, exercise intolerance, lightheaded &amp; shortness of breath, poor circulation, chest &amp; heart pain, blood pooling, anxiety, depression, etc.. <br /><br />Some days it's impossible to do much except lay down with my feet elevated &amp; rest. It's hard to describe all that I am going through, physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, I'm exhausted. I am in the process of getting disability. I have not been able to work for over a year now. The difficulties seem insurmountable at times, especially when I think of all the dreams &amp; plans I had that are no longer possible. But I have faith that everything has a purpose, I can face each day with God holding my heart. When I first posted about my condition &amp; shared the fundraiser, I had no idea the amount of support &amp; love that would come pouring in! Family &amp; friends have been helping a lot &amp; many have generously donated. I now live with my mom &amp; step-dad who are helping to take care of me. I feel blessed &amp; am so very grateful for all the help.<br /><br />My daily priorities are; Hug more! Laugh everyday! Make the most of every moment &amp; always remember to carry a song in my heart.
