We were clearing his garden for free when we saw the inside of his house … we were totally shocked. Rats had got in and done heavy damage, collapsed ceiling, pigeons in had been in his back room, no electricity in his kitchen, shower and sink are unusable and only having a portable heater in one room.

<div>My dream is to get Rick’s house safe again and give him comfort and dignity in his later years. We’ve set a high target because we want to make sure every room is safe again. If we reach the full target then we can do the whole house, if we raise under the target then we will do as many rooms as possible and use our platform to try and get other donations and products to make sure that every penny goes as far as it can.

<div>We plan to surprise Rick with a 30 day stay at a hotel. During this time we will completely renovate the house and he can return to a safe, clean, and dignified home. We will release weekly videos to keep you updated and so you can see exactly where the money goes.

<div>We’d also love to make some homely touches and help Rick with day to day extras. Such as getting him some new clothes, wardrobe, drawers etc.

<div><strong>Here's the plan:</strong>

<div><strong>Check Rick into a local hotel, that way he can pop back and see progress, he'll also be decluttering.</strong>
</div>
<div><strong>Then Clear the entire house onto to the lawn for him to decide what is staying or going.</strong>
</div>
<div><strong>Deep clean and sanitise of house, including pest control.</strong>
</div>
<div><strong>Re wire the house to make sure the electrics are safe, along with a plumbing team to sort out a new boiler, radiator and a shower/toilet downstairs. Future proofing things.</strong>
</div>
<div><strong>The next part we don't know what surprises we will uncover, we will need to replaster before decorating. If we raise enough that funds are left over this will cover a cleaner/companion for the year. Extra funds could go towards help with exteriors repairs as we can see issues, from guttering/soffits/fascias, to the render. I will ago above and beyond, that's a promise!</strong>

Helping Rick Live Safely In His Later Years

<div>Debbie has had one of the hardest stretches of life imaginable, and she's been carrying most of it alone.

<div>Her husband was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer and given about 90 days to live. Debbie became his full-time caregiver through all of it until he passed. In the time since, her own health has been declining, and the weight of everything has made it nearly impossible to keep up with her home, her yard, and her own medical care.

<div>While she was grieving, she was also being taken advantage of. A contractor took a $2,000 deposit for tree work and never showed up. A neighbor wrecked her car and didn't pay for it. She fell three months behind on rent, put off dental and health care she genuinely needs, and there were days when she and her dogs went without food because she simply couldn't afford it.

<div>We found out about Debbie through her Uber driver, Zach, who helped carry her groceries to the back door, noticed how much she was struggling, and reached out to us because he couldn't help on his own. My dad and I spent two days at her property clearing years of overgrowth and hauling multiple trailer loads of debris. We bought everything she had set aside for a yard sale and donated it to Habitat for Humanity so she'd have money in hand without the burden of running the sale herself. Through SB Mow It Forward, we also covered her three months of back rent so she could get out from under that stress.

<div>But there's still more she needs, and that's why we're here. This money will go toward dental care she's been putting off, medical expenses that have gone unaddressed, day-to-day essentials, and eventually supporting her transition into a senior living community when she's ready.

<div>All funds raised will be placed into a trust with Debbie as the sole beneficiary. This structure exists to protect her. She has been taken advantage of before, and we want to make sure this money goes directly to her needs and not to anyone who might reenter her life because of it. In the event that Debbie passes with remaining funds, those funds will transfer to SB Mow It Forward, a 501(c)3 nonprofitable organization, to continue helping others in similar situations.

So, I stopped by her house, and her lawn was getting CRAZY! She’s been trying to get someone out to take care of it, but nobody is answering their phones. The city has given her a warning for her grass and was going to charge her $240 to cut it, which she couldn’t afford. So, I completely transformed her lawn for free, and she was in tears; she was so happy.

<div>I shared the video a few months later on my social media platforms, and a lot of people are wanting to donate to help her fix some of the accessibility issues around her home. Here are the things that I think would go a long way for her.

</div>
<div>2. A new driveway - Her current driveway is really broken up and is a bad tripping hazard.

<div>3. A chair lift to get her to her washer and dryer downstairs. Currently, she relies on her neighbors across the street to come over once a month to go downstairs to do her laundry.

Tribute to Jocelyn

<div>Hey everyone, this is Spencer with SB Mowing! In my most recent video, while I was cleaning up an overgrown lawn I found an injured cat hidden deep in the grass. He was visibly hurt with an abscess under his arm that was pretty infected. He couldn't move and seemed like he was ready to lay there until he passed away from infection. I wasn't sure what to do so I called 4 different numbers including the city animal rescue, humane society, and other cat rescues but none of them wanted to take him on. Finally, I called Edgar and Ivy's Cat Sanctuary and they told me to bring him in and they would fix him up. Turns out they specialize in taking on injured, hurt, and abused cats. They also pull cats off of the euthanasia lists from all the other places I called.
