<div>While cleaning up an abandoned, overgrown property, my friend and I found a dog that someone had bagged up and dumped in the driveway. I've been mowing overgrown lawns for five years and I've never had anything like that happen. Animal control came out, checked him for a microchip, and took really good care of him. But I couldn't stop thinking about how that dog should have never been in that situation in the first place.

<div>So I called Christy at Wichita Animal Action League, a 501(c)(3) I've worked closely with over the past couple of years. They're the people doing the work that prevents things exactly like this from happening.

<div>Here's what WAAL does in our community:

<div>Free pet food handouts every other week — around 250,000 pounds a year to Wichita families
</div>
<div>Mobile vet clinics in neighborhoods with the least access to care, partnering with veterinarians including K-State's veterinary school

<div>Vaccines, medical care, and supplies for owners who are doing their best but hit a rough patch
</div>

<div>What stood out to me most is that they don't just help the animal. They help the family. Christy told me they pride themselves on non-judgmental service, meeting people where they're at, so nobody has to feel afraid to ask for help. When a paycheck doesn't stretch far enough or an unexpected bill shows up, that's exactly when a pet is most at risk of being surrendered, neglected, or worse. WAAL steps in before it gets to that point.

<div>Every dollar raised here goes directly to Wichita Animal Action League so they can put more food, more vaccines, and more veterinary care into the neighborhoods that need it most.

<div>My name is Ben Saunders and I have a YouTube channel where we help those in need of a helping hand. Which brings me to Rick. We were clearing his garden for free when we saw the inside of his house … we were totally shocked. Rats had got in and done heavy damage, collapsed ceiling, pigeons in had been in his back room, no electricity in his kitchen, shower and sink are unusable and only having a portable heater in one room.

<div>My dream is to get Rick’s house safe again and give him comfort and dignity in his later years. We’ve set a high target because we want to make sure every room is safe again. If we reach the full target then we can do the whole house, if we raise under the target then we will do as many rooms as possible and use our platform to try and get other donations and products to make sure that every penny goes as far as it can.

<div>We plan to surprise Rick with a 30 day stay at a hotel. During this time we will completely renovate the house and he can return to a safe, clean, and dignified home. We will release weekly videos to keep you updated and so you can see exactly where the money goes.

<div>We’d also love to make some homely touches and help Rick with day to day extras. Such as getting him some new clothes, wardrobe, drawers etc.

<div><strong>Here's the plan:</strong>

<div><strong>Check Rick into a local hotel, that way he can pop back and see progress, he'll also be decluttering.</strong>

<div><strong>Then Clear the entire house onto to the lawn for him to decide what is staying or going.</strong>
</div>
<div><strong>Deep clean and sanitise of house, including pest control.</strong>
</div>
<div><strong>Re wire the house to make sure the electrics are safe, along with a plumbing team to sort out a new boiler, radiator and a shower/toilet downstairs. Future proofing things.</strong>
</div>
<div><strong>The next part we don't know what surprises we will uncover, we will need to replaster before decorating. If we raise enough that funds are left over this will cover a cleaner/companion for the year. Extra funds could go towards help with exteriors repairs as we can see issues, from guttering/soffits/fascias, to the render. I will ago above and beyond, that's a promise!</strong>

Helping Rick Live Safely In His Later Years

<div>Debbie has had one of the hardest stretches of life imaginable, and she's been carrying most of it alone.
</div>

<div>Her husband was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer and given about 90 days to live. Debbie became his full-time caregiver through all of it until he passed. In the time since, her own health has been declining, and the weight of everything has made it nearly impossible to keep up with her home, her yard, and her own medical care.
</div>

<div>While she was grieving, she was also being taken advantage of. A contractor took a $2,000 deposit for tree work and never showed up. A neighbor wrecked her car and didn't pay for it. She fell three months behind on rent, put off dental and health care she genuinely needs, and there were days when she and her dogs went without food because she simply couldn't afford it.

<div>We found out about Debbie through her Uber driver, Zach, who helped carry her groceries to the back door, noticed how much she was struggling, and reached out to us because he couldn't help on his own. My dad and I spent two days at her property clearing years of overgrowth and hauling multiple trailer loads of debris. We bought everything she had set aside for a yard sale and donated it to Habitat for Humanity so she'd have money in hand without the burden of running the sale herself. Through SB Mow It Forward, we also covered her three months of back rent so she could get out from under that stress.

<div>But there's still more she needs, and that's why we're here. This money will go toward dental care she's been putting off, medical expenses that have gone unaddressed, day-to-day essentials, and eventually supporting her transition into a senior living community when she's ready.

<div>All funds raised will be placed into a trust with Debbie as the sole beneficiary. This structure exists to protect her and to protect the funds to make sure they are used in a charitable way.

In support of my sister Stephanie and her son Dakota Trenkle Jr., we are asking the community to help fund money for medical bills and support for the family while traveling . <strong>Dakota went missing on 7/27/25 at approximately 9:00 am and was found on 7/30/25 at approximately 1:15 pm.</strong> He was located in the woods at the bottom of a ravine in approximately 5 inches of water and had head trauma after a skateboarding accident. He was airlifted to a hospital where he is in critical condition from his injuries in the PICU. <strong>After his brother found his skateboard on 7/30/25 at approximately 10:30 am, that gave us a huge lead.</strong> We also want to thank our community, Goose Creek Lake firefighters, and FCC's dog team. Without you, it could have been longer before we got answers.

Community Support for Dakota Trenkle Jr.'s Recovery

<div>Hey everyone, Spencer here with SB Mowing, and I got a call from a friend at the city, and she told me that there is an elderly lady that is in desperate need of help. So, I stopped by her house, and her lawn was getting CRAZY! She’s been trying to get someone out to take care of it, but nobody is answering their phones. The city has given her a warning for her grass and was going to charge her $240 to cut it, which she couldn’t afford. So, I completely transformed her lawn for free, and she was in tears; she was so happy.

<div>I shared the video a few months later on my social media platforms, and a lot of people are wanting to donate to help her fix some of the accessibility issues around her home. Here are the things that I think would go a long way for her.

<div>1. A ramp going to her door so that she doesn't have to walk up and down stairs to get outside.
</div>
<div>2. A new driveway - Her current driveway is really broken up and is a bad tripping hazard.
</div>
<div>3. A chair lift to get her to her washer and dryer downstairs. Currently, she relies on her neighbors across the street to come over once a month to go downstairs to do her laundry.

<div>4. I would like to pay a company to maintain her yard for the next few years. Unfortunately, it is a bit too far of a drive for me to get there every week.

<div>5. If funds allow, she has a few broken windows that need to be replaced in her house.

I recently came across a yard that was completely consumed by overgrown bamboo. <strong>Donna and her husband have disabilities that limit them from doing this level of work</strong>, so my boys and I headed out to help. But as we started clearing the mess, we realized this family needed much more.

Tribute to Jocelyn

<div>Hey everyone, this is Spencer with SB Mowing! In my most recent video, while I was cleaning up an overgrown lawn I found an injured cat hidden deep in the grass. He was visibly hurt with an abscess under his arm that was pretty infected. He couldn't move and seemed like he was ready to lay there until he passed away from infection. I wasn't sure what to do so I called 4 different numbers including the city animal rescue, humane society, and other cat rescues but none of them wanted to take him on. Finally, I called Edgar and Ivy's Cat Sanctuary and they told me to bring him in and they would fix him up. Turns out they specialize in taking on injured, hurt, and abused cats. They also pull cats off of the euthanasia lists from all the other places I called.

These issues during winter such as rotten windows frames and large holes in them too. Guttering not doing it's just contributing to severe leaks which are causing damp and mould in the property.
