It’s been a busy summer of being in community with our neighbors in Haverhill! We wanted to take a moment to share the substantial impact of your donations in offering direct relief for families in crisis. Alongside direct financial support, we’ve shown up week after week to help our neighbors access resources, and ensure their safety and be in solidarity with each other. Here are some ways our time, and your donations have made a real difference for our community partners: *Supported 5 households in paying some of their rent, so them can have secure housing while they’re desperately trying to find more secure and affordable housing options *Gave money needed for a diagnostic medical test for a mom of 3 who urgently needed a medical test that wasn’t covered by medicaid *Helped parents of medically complex children pay their overdue electric bills and another family who was in danger of having electricity cut off. *Eased Food Insecurity for 7 families by collecting foodbank and farm share items, along with purchasing supplemental grocery items such as lactose free products. *Accompanied immigrant parents to court as they were fearful their rights may be violated as they complied with legal procedures needed to gain permanent residency status *Picked up clothing and diapers from local non-profits and delivered these to families with young children who have limited transportation and financial resources. *Partnered with neighbors in completing applications for rent and utility assistance, jobs, and understanding their rights. *Organized 2 Really Really Free Market events where folks gave what they could and took what they needed. These truly brought neighbors together in community! We’re so grateful for the generous donations you’ve all given in these past 6 months! We’re proud to say these funds are all going directly to meet concrete, immediate needs for families right here in the Merrimack Valley. Our funds are down to just $350 at this moment!! We’re concerned folks we’re in relationship with won’t be able to remain housed or heat their homes in the weeks and months ahead- as the wheels of bureaucracy turn slowly in opening up more sustainable options for them. As new individuals reach out to us for rent support, we’re having to let them know, we currently lack the funds to offer relief through their crisis- Please give what you can so we can support more folks in the valley remain housing and food secure, and know they’re not alone!
