<div>Tristan would never ask for help himself, so those of us who love him decided to ask on his behalf. If you've ever met Tristan Staley, you know exactly the kind of person he is. He's the guy who shows up when you need him, encourages people in their faith, and would do just about anything for a friend. He's one of the most genuine, selfless people I've ever known, and I'm blessed to call him one of my best friends.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>That's why so many of us were shocked when we learned what happened this week.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>On Monday night, Tristan's Staley's parents found him unconscious in his room after he didn't come downstairs for dinner. They had to force their way into his room, where they found him severely injured, confused, and covered in blood. He was rushed to the hospital, where his condition quickly became critical.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Doctors discovered Tristan Staley was fighting a severe infection. His white blood cell count had climbed to an astonishing 52,000, his kidneys had begun to fail, and he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit. His condition became so serious that he was hallucinating, confused, and had to be restrained to keep himself safe while doctors worked to stabilize him.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Thankfully, doctors have ruled out meningitis and several other serious infections, but they are still trying to determine what caused the infection that nearly took his life.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Based on the medical evidence, doctors believe Tristan suffered a seizure while he was alone in his room. During the seizure, he fell backward into a glass TV stand, causing a deep cut to the back of his head. They believe he later managed to get up in a confused state, made his way to the bathroom, and eventually returned to the couch, where he remained until his parents, Jim &amp; Vonda Staley, found him.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Doctors estimate Tristan Staley may have been lying there for 12 to 24 hours before he was discovered.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>One doctor told the family something that's hard to even process:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>If they had found Tristan just a couple of hours later, he most likely would not have survived.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>As if that wasn't enough, additional imaging showed Tristan also fractured five vertebrae in his back during the fall. While he's making progress every day, he still has a long road ahead with continued testing, rehabilitation, specialist care, and recovery.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Why We're Asking for Help
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>As friends, we wanted to do something to help.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>To make an already difficult situation even harder, Tristan recently lost his health insurance. While working toward his master's degree, he wasn't working full-time, and the cost of marketplace insurance was simply more than he could afford as a student.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Now he's facing an ICU stay, extensive testing, specialist care, rehabilitation, and a long recovery without health insurance.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Every dollar raised will go directly toward helping Tristan and his family with:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>ICU hospitalization and emergency medical expenses
</div>
<div>Neurology and infectious disease specialists
</div>
<div>Diagnostic testing and imaging
</div>
<div>Rehabilitation and physical therapy
</div>
<div>Prescription medications
</div>
<div>Follow-up medical care
</div>
<div>Recovery-related living expenses
</div>
<div>Why This Means So Much
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>One thing I've learned this week is just how many people love Tristan.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>As soon as he was finally allowed to have visitors, our group dropped everything to be there. Seeing our friend awake again after everything he's been through is something none of us will ever forget.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Tristan has spent years investing in other people, encouraging us in our faith, and being there whenever someone needed him. Now it's our turn to be there for him.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>If you know Tristan, you already know the kind of man he is.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>If you don't know him personally, I hope you'll consider helping someone who has dedicated his life to loving and serving others.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>How You Can Help
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>If you're able to donate, no matter the amount, it will make a real difference as Tristan focuses on healing instead of worrying about overwhelming medical bills.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>If you can't give financially, we completely understand. We simply ask that you keep Tristan in your prayers and share this fundraiser with others.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Thank you for taking the time to read Tristan Staley's
</div>
<div>story and for standing with him during one of the hardest seasons of his life.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We know God is faithful, and we're believing He still has an incredible future ahead for our brother and friend.
</div>

Help Tristan Staley Recover After a Life-Threatening Event

<div><br />
</div>
<div>Hi everyone — this one is personal. Every year, we make donations over the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays to local charities. This year, I'm helping a long-time friend, Chuck Graf. I have personally donated to friends raising funds for their kids and other efforts here on Facebook.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>My friend Chuck and I have known each other since Hawthorne. We grew up together across the tracks, went to the same schools, and lived through all the chaos, fun, and struggles that come with life. If you know Chuck, you know he’s stubborn, funny, and tries to get by without asking anyone for anything.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>But now, he really needs help.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div><img alt="" media_type="3" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/97391111_1764805614853949_r.png" width="100%" />
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>️ Chuck Is Losing His Vision — And He’s Down to One Working Eye
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Chuck has a severe cataract in one eye, leaving him with almost no vision on that side. His other eye — the one he relies on to drive, work, and get through the day — is now starting to deteriorate too.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>He recently lost his insurance, and the timing couldn’t be worse.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>$770 is needed for the cataract surgery on the main eye
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>$270 is needed for the minor procedure on the other eye
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div><img alt="" media_type="3" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/97391111_1764805674723604_r.png" width="100%" />
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Without it, he risks losing the independence he has left — including the ability to work
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Every day he battles pain and migraines because different amounts of light hit each eye. Some days, he can barely function. Imagine trying to keep your job when you can’t even rely on your eyesight.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>He should honestly be on disability or doctor-ordered rest, but like a lot of us, he has to work just to get by. He’s doing the best he can — but he’s running out of time.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Life Has Hit Him Hard, Over and Over
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Chuck has had more than his fair share of tough breaks over the years. He’s never complained, never asked for handouts, and never had the safety nets many people take for granted.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This is his vision.
</div>
<div>His ability to work.
</div>
<div>His ability to drive.
</div>
<div>His ability to live independently.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Without surgery, everything becomes uncertain.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This Is Our Chance to Step In — As His Community
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>He’s not asking for anything extravagant. He just wants to see again. To work. To get through a day without pain. To have a chance at a normal life.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I’m asking anyone who can spare even a few dollars to help us reach this small but life-changing goal.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div><img alt="" media_type="3" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/97391111_1764805745163870_r.png" width="100%" />
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Every donation helps. Every share helps.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>If 100 people gave just $10, the entire surgery cost would be covered.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Total Goal: $1,100
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This covers both surgeries and transportation to appointments.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>❤️ Thank you. Truly.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Whether you donate or simply share this, it means the world to both of us. Chuck would give the shirt off his back if someone else needed it — now it’s our turn to give him a hand.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div><img alt="" media_type="3" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/97391111_1764805816807640_r.png" width="100%" />
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Let’s help him see again.
</div>
<div><br />

<div>UPDATES AT BOTTOM
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Hi everybody, my name is Holly. I am the daughter of Susan and Denzil Edie. On October 5th, 2024 my parents were involved in a tragic motorcycle accident. What appeared to be a medical emergency with my mom, turned into my dads motorcycle t-boning another vehicle at an intersection. My mom (Susan) was ejected off the motorcycle and has multiple fractured bones (pelvis, tail bone, ribs, and skull). She also has a large laceration on the back of her skull that was stapled shut. My dad (Denzil) was seen in the emergency room as well and has a concussion, a possible broken wrist (waiting on x-ray from VA), and severe tension everywhere in his body. Praise the good lord above us, they had so many angels watching over them. My mom has ability to move all limbs and has no spinal or neck injuries. She was cleared by orthopedic surgeons yesterday that she will not need any surgeries to help in the healing process, but with that being said she has a long recovery ahead of her. The last few days have been a whirlwind of emotions and full of so much love and support from not only family, friends, but our community. I have tried to update each and everyone of you that I can in a timely manner, but below I will give a run down of updates in case I have missed you or we haven't been in contact.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The first two days were full of rest and lots of labs, tests, x-rays, MRI's, etc. Everything continued to come back NORMAL. They had a plan in place to remove her off the ventilator on Monday morning, but in the middle of the night around 2:00 AM I got a frightening call to what I believed that she TORE OUT HER VENT ALL ON HER OWN!!! If you know my mom, you know she is a feisty little fire cracker! She handled well off the ventillator until her throat started swelling due to the pressure of the balloon being inflated in the vent and it coming up her esophagus. They heard strider in her breaths so the amazing trauma team decided it was best to re-intubate her and let her rest all day and try again the following morning. This morning they ran some tests to make sure the swelling went down and they were able to remove the vent! Since the vent has been removed they have placed a NG tube to help with medications and feedings since her throat is extremely sore from having all the tubes down it the last few days. She is still sedated on a medication called DEX. This helps with anxiety and takes some thought off her mind of what is going on. PT just came around at 2:00 and was able to get her up on the side of the bed and she was able to stand up with very little assistance 3 times! She was also able to take a small step to the right side before she laid back down. They lowered her DEX down to .05 and are hopeful that they can keep weaning it so she can get out of the ICU and into the next unit down the hall. She is talking, opening her eyes, yelling at the nurses that she wants help to get out of this damn bed, she has been able to tell us what our names are (her kids: Nikki, Nick, and myself) and she was able to tell my dad over the phone that she loves him.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>With all of that being said she has a long road to recovery... she will be out of work for a unknown period of time, her husband Denzil has been retired for over 10 years. She is going to need acute intensive rehab for several weeks to months after hospital release and we are needing as much support for them as we can get for medical bills, personal bills, gas for transportation, groceries, etc.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I know my mom would never want us to ask for any kind of donations, but my parents have attended hundreds of fundraisers, bike runs, donated to so many in the biker community for reasons like this and for other amazing causes over the last 20 years. I know that the love and support is needed and so I ask please if you can donate anything at all, please help them in this time of need. They have always given their shirts off their backs for everyone else and this time it's someones turn to help them!
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I thank you in advance for all donations. I don't know how I could get through any of this without each and every one of you that has been supporting to our family is this tragic time of need.
</div>

<div>October 10th 2024:
</div>
<div>Mom is doing EXCELLENT! She has been doing amazing off the vent, her oxygen input is at 40%, NG tube and catheter were removed yesterday, DEX sedation is turned off as of yesterday. She was heavily sedated and given a lot of narcotics so her body is weaning off of those now. She is eating, drinking, and able to take her medications by mouth. Physical therapy has been working with her and she is able to stand for a period of time, march in place, and step side to side. She is very lucid, but is also experiencing some hallucinations due to the narcotics. She is aware of her surroundings, she doesn't remember what happened before the accident or during. She is aware she is in the hospital, she recognizes her family, friends, etc. She is asking for "aspirin" for pain - we find that comical because this girl never takes any medications so if the "aspirin" is helping for pain we are grateful! It's amazing how her recovery is going. She was downgraded from ICU as well and is waiting for a bed in the next unit down.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Thank you for all of your prayers, thoughts, love, and all donations. I can't even begin to explain the amount of support and love we have been shown and how much we appreciate it.
</div>
<div><br />

<div>Love,
