<div>Hi - we are Sharon Berg and Tammy McNair, grandmothers to <strong>9-year-old Kinsley</strong>. Kinsley sustained a very serious head injury on 9/14/2024. A 220 lb tree branch fell on her while she was swinging on a swingset, pinning her to the ground for 4-5 minutes. She lost consciousness and was transported to Children’s Hospital. She was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit, and on 9/17/24 had brain surgery due to bleeding on her brain. <strong>Her mother is not able to work right now, and her stepfather is in and out of work attending to Kinsley, but also trying to balance parenting and making sure her 5 sisters get to school and also have proper care. <div>About two months ago Daniel started noticing headaches and dizziness and was told that a mass has been found in the direct center of his head between the Cerebrum and Cerebellum. Since the original date that the mass was found, it has doubled in size and is now filling the space between both parts of his brain. Surgery to remove the tumor will be in three weeks (expedited because of the growth rate) and will have a few months of recovery time.

<div>Baby Jayce Osteen was born November 22, 2021 to Deputies Clayton Osteen and Victoria Pacheco of the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office. Clayton and Victoria were joy-filled, first-time parents excited about their growing family, enamored with their baby Jayce, and so in love with each other. Tragically, for reasons completely unknown and totally out of character, Clayton took his own life December 31st, 2021. Reeling from the shock of loss, Victoria took her own life two days later.

Heidi has been dealing with a Covid illness now for over two weeks, she became severely ill last weekend and ended up having to be transferred to a COVID ICU unit and placed on a ventilator. She has now been on the ventilator for 6 days, and has had a little progress but she still has a very long road to recovery. They have to prone her daily (which means flip her from her back to her stomach so she can breathe a little easier) of course with major help from the ventilator. Heidi bills have been piling up, and her daughter and I have been trying to let them know she is sedated and unable to pay. But they keep coming. We’re asking for help not only to pay her regular utilities but also we’re trying to keep her house mortgage current so she doesn’t lose something she’s worked so hard to get, and also her new car payment. If you know Heidi you know she’s a strong independent woman, who doesn’t like to ask for help even when she needs it most. Heidi would do anything for most anyone at the drop of a hat even if it meant she would have added strain. She is a hard worker who puts in 40-60 hours a week just to afford what she has. Now being in the hospital and with the possibility being out of work for months she is faced with financial hardships. He is only 2 ½ years old has proven to be an incredible lifeline to my husband for his disability, to my two sons during this isolating pandemic, and to myself.<br /><br />10 days ago, he fell seriously ill. He has an extremely angry pancreas, a swollen liver and spleen, fluid in his abdomen but worse, extremely low blood platelet count. He has been diagnosed to have IPD most likely, but possibly lymphoma. We cannot currently test since the required biopsy would most likely have him bleed to death given his platelet count.<br /><br />We have a small window possibly still save him!!!!!!!<br /><br /><strong>Treatment:</strong><br /><br />-          Medication to up his blood platelet count: he started this already, but his platelets need more time to regen. This can take up to 14 days….. $1500/day IF there are no additional emergencies<br /><br />-          Biopsy<br /><br />-          If he does not have lymphoma, we can treat him all out for IPD. It would be about 3-10 days in hospital followed by 4-6 months of outpatient treatment with bi-weekly blood tests<br /><br /> <br /><br /><strong>Please help us give him a fighting chance!!!!</strong> I was heartbroken when I heard my husband discuss the situation with the vet today. The vet said Marshall could hemorrhage any moment. Gary: "yeah I have seen people die of hemorrhaging right in front of me and it is a horrible way to go." Then he cried  - I was like.. I got nothing... I mean, what do you say to that?<br /><br />I am so worried that not being able to at least try to save his comrade will make the effects of his PTSD worse than it would be if we could at least give Marshall all we got. Thus far we have spent about $4000 on hospital treatment for him. Meant to be! He joined us shortly thereafter and has never left our side since!!!! Marshall is scared and alone right now and we want to give him all we can! My brother Dan has been in and out of the hospital and on bed rest for over a month. He is self employed and worked so hard for the last 5 years to build his catering company. <br />What happened? 1st hospital said sepsis, sent home after 3 days on bedrest for 4 weeks. Next trip to the ER, told hes doing great and to continue on bed rest. Now? He's in ICU on a ventilator and the doctors have no idea what's wrong with him. He's getting weaker and we have no answers. His wife is working tirelessly to keep the business going, giving up her visiting time with Dan to do so. They have 2 small children (11 &amp; 6) that don't understand what s happening.  They have no insurance and Christine (his wife) has had to take a leave of absence from her job. Please help, anything helps to keep the bills paid and food in the house during this time. I know he'll hate that I asked for help on his behalf, but I wouldn't ask if it wasnt an emergency.

Hi! For those who don’t know me, I’m Ali – 23 year-old mom who loves discovering nature with my son and going maybe a bit over the top with "made from scratch" food. Three years ago, shortly after the birth of my son, Zeke, my life was turned upside-down when, after a series of alarming symptoms appeared, I was diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome.

Ehlers-Danlos is a rare genetic disorder that affects the body’s connective tissues, like skin, joints and blood vessel walls. For me, complications of the disease have led to six separate vascular compressions that affect everything from my mobility to my digestive system. Essentially, my blood isn’t flowing through my body correctly anymore. My organs are beginning to not function properly due to lack of blood flow. Without surgery, I will very soon become paralyzed, have my organs shut down, or otherwise develop a life-threatening blood clot.

Daily life with my health problems has slowly become more and more debilitating, especially as the mom of an energetic toddler. The compressions now cause spontaneous attacks of pain that force me to sit down wherever I am for about 20 minutes, so simple things like play dates and grocery runs are out of the question unless I have help. Normal activities – walking up stairs, washing my hair – makes me tired and winded easily, as my limbs quickly go numb and grow heavy from lack of blood flow. Every three or four days I’m too exhausted to get out of bed. Due to one of my compressed arteries being the one that supplies digestive acids to your stomach, I can’t keep food on my belly for more than half an hour, so I can usually only eat a meal once every three days or so. I'm supplementing with meal replacement shakes but even those I'm beginning to have difficulty breaking down. I've begun to develop recurrent UTI’s and kidneys infections. I've even begun having issues just being able to use the restroom as my bladder and uterus have now prolapsed due to lack of proper blood flow. My family and I have been to doctors all over the country trying to get the answers we need, but my condition is so rare and complex that even most highly specialized surgeons won’t operate on me.



The only treatment I have been offered in the United States was to remove a mass that was found along with my vascular compressions. This mass had grown to the size of a grapefruit, my doctors at Johns Hopkins hoped that by removing it they would free up some space for my veins and arteries, as I was already small to begin with.

Unfortunately, the end results of my first surgery were that I had lost the mass, but also a fallopian tube. Doing this sealed off the path my blood was using as a detour back to my heart. Ultimately adding in another compression, further complicating my case and making me significantly more sick within weeks after my operation. At this point I was told there was nothing more that could be done.


In a lot of ways, it seems like a hopeless situation. But we have found hope – in the form of a German surgeon, Dr. Sandmann, who has extensive expertise in operating on people with my conditions. I recently traveled to Dr. Sandmann’s office in Germany for testing, and he and his team are confident they can help me. But because Germany doesn’t accept U.S. health insurance, the $32,000 required for the surgery, imaging, and the minimum 14-day hospital stay afterward has to come out of my pocket – up front. I will also be required to stay in the country for a minimum of two months to insure proper recovery and attend follow-up appointments. I've included a list below lining out the budget for this trip to tell where exactly everything will be going.

It’s never easy asking for help, even in a desperate situation, and even from people who love you. To request kindness from strangers feels downright scary. There’s a lot of fear and uncertainty in my life these days. But I know that if there’s a chance I can get well and live to watch my son grow, it’s worth anything.

Somehow in the midst of getting all this together I left out very important information. 

One of my compressions, MALS, presents in a way that has yet to be documented. In this condition your diaphragm compress' your celiac artery.

In my case, my celiac artery compress a second artery behind it(my SMA). My diaphragm then continues down to compress the celiac artery a second time against my spine. 

Because this has yet to be documented, my surgeon, Dr. Sandmann, will have to create a completely new surgery in order to fix this compression in particular.

$ 7,000- safety, emergency money, any lengthened recovery stay due to complications.

Life saving surgery in Germany

John Brandon Filer is a selfless man. He puts everyone’s needs before his own. He raised his three kids and is now raising other family members kids he has in his home.  He coached soccer for local clubs and he would lines the soccer field and cut the grass for Manchester high school. He will give you the shirt off your back and has a hear of gold. Currently he is in the hospital on a ventilator and in a coma. They will be testing for brain activity soon.  Please help this wonderful man and his family.  It is with great sadness to notify you the John has passed away. He's a beaut, with a head full of orange hair and blue eyes - combining the best of both of their many good traits (banjo playing aside).<br /><br />Pretty early on, however, it became clear that Emmett was undergoing a variety of different seizures. After many months of tests and doctor's visits, and a couple of different neurologists, the family has finally hit upon the cause of these seizures and a treatment.<br /><br />Emmett's condition is called <a href="http://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/neurology_neurosurgery/centers_clinics/epilepsy/seizures/causes/hemimegalencephaly.html" target="_blank">right Hemimegalencephaly (rHME)</a> . It's a congenital, genetic disorder that causes one hemisphere of the brain to grow abnormally large. It's so rare that it only accounts for 0.2% of pediatric epilepsy. HME has caused Emmett to have intractable seizures so frequently for the last 4+ months that his development is halted at the level of a newborn (except for his vocal skills!). He can't learn if his brain is being "zapped" multiple times an hour. Ben and Annie have chosen UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital for care because the team there has experience treating this particular disorder. <br /><br />The good news from pre-surgical evaluation last week is that <strong>Emmett's left hemisphere is healthy which makes him an excellent candidate for surgery.</strong> The operation must be undertaken as soon as possible to prevent the right hemisphere from "poisoning" the healthy side. <br /><br />The surgery is called a functional hemispherectomy and entails completely disconnecting the bad hemisphere. The amazing part is that infant's brains are so plastic, that he has a very good chance of developing "normally" after surgery, with lots of therapy to teach his left hemisphere that it's in charge now! <br /><br />Emmett, Annie and Ben are heading back to California this Sunday for surgery on July 18th!<br /><br />They will have to go to L.A. a total of 3 times in 12 months. His "local" neurologist is 2 hours away in Atlanta, that's a once a month visit. He'll need therapy for years. He'll be on drugs for at least a year. They have good insurance but the co-pays and travel costs add up, and this is where we come in.<br /><br />It is a great thing that Ben and Annie have health insurance at all, but as you either know or can imagine, the financial stability of a family with two artist parents is tentative at best. Please help to offset the many many ancillary costs that they will have over the years to come. <br /><br />I have set the goal at $15,000, but this is only a portion of the help they will need. The great thing about this platform is that Annie and Ben will be able to withdraw funds as they need them, rather than waiting for the full amount to be matched. And, we can go over the goal!<br /><br />The Campbell-Belchers are so grateful to have a supportive and loving community of family, friends, fellow ceramicists, musicians, and like-minded weirdos. Of course it makes this ordeal much easier to endure when there is a large and caring human safety net to count on. <p><strong>Please Help Joshua Marks!</strong><br /><br />Joshua Marks is a 30-year-old young man from Powhatan, Virginia, who is fighting for his life.  His family and friends are fighting along with him.  But this isn’t Joshua’s first battle.  He came into this world as a "preemie baby" - born three months early with underdeveloped organs and little to no chance of survival.  At nine days of age, Joshua coded and was pronounced dead, but miraculously he started breathing again.  He suffered multiple additional complications related to his severe prematurity which should have resulted in blindness and brain damage, but he defied all of the odds through the power of prayer – the prayers of family, friends, and churches all around the area who had heard of his story.  Through God’s power and mercy, Joshua went on to live a normal, healthy childhood.   <br /><br />As a teenager Joshua became very involved in his church, holding leadership positions and going on a mission trip to Tanzania, Africa.  In his early adult years, he felt a calling to help people struggling with substance abuse.  He attended Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and a Master's Degree in Drug and Rehab Counseling.  He then began his career as a substance abuse counselor, focusing on troubled youth and children suffering from severe mental illness.<br /><br />Unfortunately no one is immune to the monster of mental illness.  Over the past several years, Joshua began suffering from severe anxiety and depression, impacting his career and his ability to support himself.  Recognizing that he needed help, he sought out and obtained professional treatment.  However, neither therapy nor medications or even his continued strong Christian faith have been able to “cure” Joshua, and he has attempted to end his life – practically against his own will – five times now.  Each time his suicide attempts have become worse, but each time God has intervened to save Joshua’s life just like He did so many years ago.  Miracles are still happening for our Joshua!  <br /><br />Joshua has been hospitalized now since the end of November 2017, receiving intensive treatment following his most recent relapse.  His inpatient psychiatric hospitalization is coming to an end now as the New Year begins - due to insurance company regulations.  However, his treatment team and his family all believe Josh needs additional treatment in the form of a long-term residential treatment facility.  Unfortunately, such treatments are not without substantial cost and are often not covered by traditional medical insurance.  We are working on arrangements for transferring Joshua to such a residential program, but we desperately need help with the costs.  Josh will begin the program on 1/4/2018.  Significant cash (nearly $14,000) is needed up front, and there will be ongoing need for financial assistance with the medical costs for up to 90 days (which will total approximately $78,000!).<br /><br />Mental illness, depression, anxiety, and suicidality are real illnesses with the same potential fatality as cancer and the same long-term treatment needs as high blood pressure or diabetes.  You cannot “think” your way out of it or just “get over it” any more than a cancer patient or heart patient or diabetic patient can just “think themselves out of” their maladies using "will power."   For Joshua and many other people like him, mental illness is a life sentence, but it doesn’t have to be a death sentence.  Please help us to help this wonderful young man that we love with all of our hearts!  God has a bigger plan for Joshua, as He has proven over and over again.  Would you please be a part of His plan???<br /><br />On behalf of Joshua’s family &amp; friends, thank you for taking your time to read and consider our request.  Prayers and any contributions are greatly welcomed.  May God bless you and yours in this New Year!<br /><br />ADDENDUM:  For those of you that would like more information about me (the manager of this GoFundMe campaign), here is some info that I hope will be helpful to you (and that GoFundMe has requested that I share):<br />(1)  My name is Randy Myers (also known as John R. Myers or as Rev. J. Randy Myers).<br />(2)  I am from Powhatan, Virginia.<br />(3)  I am Joshua Marks's "god-uncle" ("Uncle Randy" to Josh).  Josh's grandmother, Jean Herndon, babysat me and my little sister when we were young, and we were kind of "grafted" into the Kilby/Herndon/Marks family.  Jean became like a second mother to me and my sister.  She is now in her mid-80's and is still "Ma Jean" to us.  Jean and (the late) Tommy Herndon's only child is Debbie Herndon Marks.  Debbie became a "big sister" ("Sissy") to my sister and me.  Thus, her two children (Josh and Brooke) became "nephew and niece" to me and my sister (Dr. Tammy Jo Myers Martin of Cartersville, VA).  My oldest son Paul grew up as a "cousin" (and almost as a "brother") to Josh, and we lived on adjoining properties on what was once the same big farm in Powhatan.  I love Josh with all my heart, and I am determined to do whatever I can to help him get the treatment that he needs.<br />(4)  How the funds raised will be used:  All funds raised will be used to pay the bills for Joshua's in-patient mental health treatment.  If any funds are left over, they will be used to help pay for Josh's continuing out-patient day treatment program when he returns to the Richmond area.  ALL funds will be used for Josh's medical expenses.<br />(5)  Monies raised through this campaign are deposited in an account called "The Joshua Marks Fund" at Essex Bank (with several Central Virginia branches).  I personally manage this account.  Whenever bills come due from the HopeWay Foundation, Inc. (the non-profit mental health treatment center where Josh is at), I will either cut a check from this account to pay those bills or will use the debit card for this account to pay those bills.  The same will be true of any follow-up expenses for out-patient mental health treatment once Josh comes back home.  Those bills will be paid directly out of this bank account.  Joshua himself is the primary owner of this account and will have access to the account as he needs it to pay for his medical expenses.  The family and I wish to be completely transparent about both this GoFundMe campaign and about its related bank account.  If anyone desires to review the statements (deposits and payments) for this account, please feel free to contact me here (through a message on GoFundMe) and I will be happy to give you my contact information and get with you to review the statements.<br /><br />Again, many thanks to each and every one of you! <strong><br /></strong>Chester is a wonderful young man,  he always has a smile an takes nothing for granted.  He enjoys life to its fullest without ever complaining or saying why me.   Chester uses his head to run his wheelchair other than that he is fully dependent on others.  Despite his disability Chester works part time at Home Depot an The Eaton Village Store, plus he volunteers at a local daycare, volunteers at a local nursing home plus more,  he is very active within his community.  His enjoyment comes from going to Red Sox Games, participating in Special Olympics, Skiing, Swimming, Country Music Concerts,  climb Mt. Washington, being with family and friends.   These are all things we take for granted we can just go get in our car or our friends/family car and go. Not so easy for Chester he needs a wheelchair van to go and do the things he enjoys and deserves to do.  Right now he doesn't have a van,  his died about a year ago. We have been struggling since.  <br /><br /><div>Please help Chester keep the freedom he so needs.   Please help him raise the money for a wheelchair van.  </div>
