Hello, my name is Gladys Alvarez. On September 18, 2026, I suffered an accidental fall while traveling in Anchorage, Alaska. I landed on my left hand and experienced severe pain and swelling. At urgent care, X-rays confirmed that I had fractured my wrist. I was placed in a splint and referred for urgent orthopedic follow-up. I continue to experience pain, swelling, and limited movement in my wrist, thumb, and forearm. Simple daily activities now take much longer, and I cannot lift luggage, drive safely, or perform work that requires both hands. Because my health insurance is based in Florida, obtaining orthopedic follow-up care in Alaska has become difficult and potentially expensive. I need an orthopedic examination, follow-up X-rays, and the appropriate treatment to make sure the fracture heals correctly. I may also need help with transportation and essential expenses while my ability to work is limited. I am starting with a modest fundraising goal of $4,500 to help cover: • Orthopedic evaluation and follow-up appointments • X-rays and other necessary testing • A cast, brace, medication, or other prescribed treatment • Transportation related to medical care • Essential expenses during my temporary work limitations I will update this page once I receive a complete orthopedic evaluation and know whether additional treatment is required. Any contribution, no matter the amount, will help. If you are unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser would also mean so much to me. Thank you for your kindness, prayers, and support during this difficult time.
