<div>So this morning, Zilla and I’s beloved boy, Baloney Sandwich, started having issues. His brother, Dragula, was fighting with him under the table, and Sandwich dragged himself away. He couldn’t use his back legs, and he also defecated on himself, which is of course terrifying for a cat dad.

<div>We took him to the vet, and his X-ray was clean, but his liver enzymes are up. And the only way to find out if our poor boy had a stroke or a seizure, or to rule out any other neurological issues, is to get him a kitty MRI.
</div>

<div>Now, I learned today that kitty MRI are EXPENSIVE. And I know we’re all struggling right now, but if you could help a poor man who’s had to really stretch his budget out for, y’know, the hellscape we live in I’d greatly appreciate it.

<div>My name is Alexander Wilson, and I have Stage 3 Pancreatic Cancer.

<div>A little about myself. I am a 40 year old father of 3, My eldest Eloise(19) has just finished her freshman year of college, Sophia(16) is wrapping up her Sophomore year of high school and Arthur(7) is just about to finish 1st grade. I celebrate 20 years of marriage to my wonderful wife Kathryn this July.

<div>I am fortunate enough to work in Animation as a character designer for shows such as: Invincible, Harley Quinn, Marvel's Spiderman, Team Spidey, Velma, Wolfboy and the Everything factory, Solar Opposites to name a few.
</div>

<div>On April 9th, 2025, I received a diagnosis of Stage 3 Pancreatic Cancer. This finally explained 18 months of puzzling health decline, including a sudden diabetes diagnosis just last November. The persistent abdominal pain that led to my diagnosis was caused by a tumor in the head of my pancreas blocking my bile duct, leading to liver inflammation.
</div>

</div>
<div>I'm currently on my third cycle of 12 for FOLFIRINOX chemotherapy. The goal is to shrink the tumor off my portal vein and reduce activity in regional lymph nodes, hopefully making a Whipple procedure possible. A PET scan after my sixth cycle will reassess the viability of surgery, which is currently the only curative treatment available for pancreatic cancer. Should surgery not become a valid option, I will transition to palliative care.
</div>

</div>
<div>In the meantime all I can do is trust the process, keep a positive attitude and sense of humor while trying to make sure my family are in as stable a situation as possible through these incredibly trying times.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I have had to step back from my role at my studio, and the reduced income at a time of spiraling expenses is creating an unsustainable situation while I try to fight my cancer over the next 6-8months.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This is where the need to fundraise comes in. I've been reluctant to reach out for financial help, so many of us are struggling for so many different reasons and asking for help seems a selfish thing to do. Unfortunately, I find myself in a position where I have no other option available to me and my family.

<div>Many people in the Beverly and Morgan Park know Nora Naatz through Mama Massage Chicago, her massage therapy practice or as the lifeguard who taught their kids to swim or as the person who made delicious pies, chocolates and caramels at various local markets. What you may not know, is that Nora is always helping out, whether it's making a dinner for friends, creating care packages for moms who need help, volunteering at school or even throwing a birthday party for a migrant child. Nora is also the collector of lost toys (but the toys are people) because she's always finding new people to make friends with and bring home. Nora is always out and about in the neighborhood.

<div>Last August, Nora was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma (breast cancer). Since then, Nora has endured multiple hospitalizations due to complications of her cancer testing and treatment.  She has had multiple surgeries and has been unable to work and either of her jobs since October of 2024.  While the Naatz family does have health insurance, they are  still fighting denied claims from multiple her hospitals stays as well as all the other daily and expenses of cancer treatment and recovery.

<div>Well… it’s been many things lately, loves. But I’ve got some big news:

<div><strong>I’m moving to Austin in October!</strong>
</div>

</div>
<div>As many of you know, the last several years haven’t been overly kind to me. I left my job when Covid began to ensure my partner Ryan’s safety after he had been rediagnosed with Carcinoid lung cancer, which would ultimately prove terminal. In that time, I lived off of what little savings I still had left. We ended up living in a very tenuous family situation as his illness progressed. This ultimately prompted me to move out and return to the workforce. He passed in June of 2023, and life will never be the same.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The last year and a bit has been a whirlwind. I had a severe case of Covid in the weeks preceding Ryan’s death, meaning that I was unable to see him. Our last goodbye was a video call from two miles away. I wasn’t permitted to be there in his final moments, although I had recovered; only learning of his death after the fact, and via text message.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>In this time, I was also trying to start a new career in animal care and grooming, but broke my ankle, lost my home, and found myself having to relocate out of state.
</div>
<div>It took six months of struggling with my ankle and trying to find a job.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Just when things were starting to look up, I became very ill with GI symptoms that I couldn’t explain. However, because of my work circumstances and lack of insurance, I was unable to be evaluated and treated until months later. I was diagnosed with H. Pylori and am also now looking at a POTS diagnosis, all of which has left me so sick I could barely train for my new job. But by some miracle and through the kindness of others, I’m still standing.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This move is going to be good for me, and I am coming to believe that it’s what I need to truly start over again. I will be living with and near family, and one of my closest friends. And that is a huge comfort, despite my fears and anxieties about starting over again. Again.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Although my body frequently foils my plans, I am working as much as I can at a job that I love and am devastated to have to leave it so soon.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I’ve had a few interviews for jobs in Austin and am excited to see where things go.
</div>
<div><strong>But relocating is expensive. Even with cost-effective options, it looks like it’s going to cost me about $3500 to get a truck, tow my car, and get me and the animals and a few belongings out there.</strong>
</div>

</div>
<div>I should be able to get some of the money together, but I need help.
</div>

<div>He came to me at a very hard time in my life, my world falling apart just mere months after I got him.

<div>But here was there for me, no more than a pup, he gave me the reason to go on and try my best. He was counting on me and we only had each other. He saved my life.

<div>Now, after seven years, it's time to repay the debt.
</div>

</div>
<div>Odyn had been struggling with his health for almost 3 years now and we kept getting different diagnoses and treatments. This has caused our insurance company to reject most of the claims, citing pre-existing conditions and moving to a new insurer would mean the same.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We got the most horrible news last week - Odyn could not go under for a required procedure for his inner ear infection/cyst draining
</div>
<div>because he was too weak and would not survive. An emergency test had to be done.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>But we finally see hope - the underlying cause of Odyn's constant health problems had been pinpointed to hypothyroidism and we've started medication.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Unfortunately, the long way to get here has drained my finances and we need a bit of help in this oh-so-vital time to make sure the treatments and procedures can keep going and my best friend will make it.
</div>

<div>We had a vet appointment today, Odyn was still too weak to go under and have the cyst on his face assessed.
</div>

<div>The vet has discovered two growths inside it, one near his jowl and another next to the ear. The ear canals are still full of infection, and even if it's slowly healing, his overall state makes fighting it hard.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We've got another 3 weeks course of different antibiotics and an appointment on the 24th. Hopefully, by then he will be strong enough to withstand a day of tests and going under anaesthesia to take samples of growths.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>

Fertility rates dropped by 12% while fetal deaths rose by 58%.
