We are urgently appealing for support to secure the release of six staff members of Prism Empowerment and Development Initiative Uganda (Prism Uganda) who were arrested while carrying out community support activities for LGBTQ+ individuals living with HIV.
The team had organized a community retreat aimed at providing psychosocial support, health information, and a safe environment for vulnerable individuals who often face stigma, discrimination, and barriers to accessing essential services. During the retreat, authorities raided the gathering and arrested six members of our staff.
Since their arrest, they have remained in detention, separated from their families, colleagues, and the communities they serve. Their detention has also disrupted critical support services relied upon by many LGBTQ+ individuals in need of care and assistance.
We urgently need to raise €1,300 to support their release and cover immediate legal and case-management expenses, including:
* Legal representation and consultation
* Police bond and release processing requirements
* Transportation and coordination related to securing their release
* Court-related administrative costs
* Emergency welfare support for the affected staff members
These six individuals are dedicated human rights and community workers who were providing support to some of the most marginalized members of society. Your contribution will help bring them home and enable them to continue their vital work.
Every donation, regardless of size, makes a meaningful difference. If you are unable to contribute financially, please consider sharing this appeal with your networks.
Fundraising Goal: €1,300
Thank you for standing in solidarity with Prism Uganda and supporting justice, dignity, and the protection of vulnerable communities.
