<div>I want to share a story that echoes resilience, hope, and a steadfast commitment to rebuilding Gaza's healthcare system—a mission that my friend of over 10 years, Majed Abuawad, carries in his heart. Now even more than ever.

<div>In the aftermath of losing his home during the onset of the war in Gaza due to an airstrike, Majed bravely stepped up amidst hardship and tragedy to assist his community. He volunteered with the healthcare staff in Nuseirat Camp, risking his life to save innocent civilians. Despite sustaining injuries while on duty and enduring numerous displacements, his family finally found refuge in Rafah in January. Life in the tents of Rafah presents its challenges. Still, within this adversity, Majed envisions a transformative journey—to pursue a PhD in Nursing at the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Canada, with a mission rooted in the long-term goal of contributing to the revival of Gaza's healthcare and nursing education.

<div>Majed, a holder of two Master's degrees, is more than an academic achiever; he is a dedicated individual who has witnessed the impact of education and healthcare on communities. In roles as a lecturer at al Azhar University and as a nurse in various institutions, including UNRWA, Ministry of Health hospitals, Al-Awda Hospital, and the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, Majed has been at the forefront of healthcare in Gaza.

<div>Unfortunately, pronounced medical trauma, incurred via experiences of systemic bigotry, has proven an obstacle in their efforts to access appropriate treatment and medications over the past few months.

<div>Their health has deteriorated severely due to this lapse in care.

<div>They have felt acutely unwell, terribly afraid, and terrifically alone.

<div>I am pleased to report that they have recently secured OHIP and are now on track to receiving proper care. This will eventually allow them access to much needed medications through the Trillium Drug Program.

He loved his kids and was an amazing dad whose best times and memories were with them. He was intelligent, funny, and quick-witted and we were all lucky enough to have had to pleasure of having him in our lives and helping us create lasting memories.

One of our much loved PHS resident kitties has been seriously injured. She's going to need at least one surgery, and the estimate for the vet bills has added up to $3000! <br /><br />The owner of this kitty is one of the kindest people I know, who is so dedicated to not only her own pets, but any animal in need that may cross her path. There are not many of us who could afford this vet bill without assistance, which adds so greatly to the stress and heartbreak of caring for a wounded love. <br /><br />Someone has generously loaned the $1000 to pay the deposit, so the cat could receive immediate care without needing to be surrendered (yes, if you can't afford to pay anything up front for the vet bills, often the only alternative to saving their lives is to give them up. Heartbreaking). This loan and the remaining bill of this surgery need to be paid as soon as possible, as well as the bills for the 4-6 week follow up appointments.<br /><br />Please contribute what you can, and share widely. <br /><br />Your support is so appreciated, not to mention your kitty karma will increase substantially!

Hi friends! <br />My name is Jack Sproule. Sometimes people call me Handsome Jack, because they say I'm cute. I think that's awfully swell of them.  You folks might know me through my hu-mom...her name is Maggie. She's a very nice hu-mom who gives me lots of love and hugs and food...I always make sure I'm right by her side!  Taking care of Maggie makes me very happy!!  When she was really sick the last couple of years, I made sure to look after her, giving her drooly kisses and lots of cuddles. She's been very busy with university and her illness, but she has always had time to hug and love me back. And even though school has used up a lot of this thing called "mun-ny", she's always made sure my brother and I are well fed.<br />Here's the thing...I started to get really sick on Tuesday May 16th. I don't even feel like eating (which is very strange for me). I have a fever and my back legs are wobbly and don't let me stand.  I went to the University of Saskatchewan Emergency Vet Clinic last night. They keep saying I'm pale, but they can't figure out what is wrong with me. They need to keep me at the hospital and do some tests to see what might help me get better. I know my hu-mom Maggie is scared and sad and she wants to make sure she is there for me...just like I was there for her when she was sick. She is trying to get me better so that I can be right by her side again.<br />My tests, hospital stay and potential treatment options are a lot of that "mun-ny" stuff. My hu-mom is trying to help me the best she can, but maybe you can help me too?  All of the money you donate will go towards vet fees (tests, hospital stay, and treatment). Veterinary Care for Handsome Jack 

Hello friends, friends-of-friends, internet strangers and furry creature lovers!<br /><br /><strong>My lovely furry best friend is in pain, and we are asking for your help.</strong><br />Nootka started displaying symptoms of leg lameness months ago, but because she wasn't in much pain I didn't rush her to a vet- and truth be told, i knew it would require a specialist visit, which are never cheap, so I have been saving so she could see him. <br /><br />She was able to see him today, and he confirmed that she does have a cruciate ligament tear that will require surgery, as well as rehabilitaion. <br /><strong>Time is of the essence</strong> for an injury like this, as she has been favoring her other leg, which could lead to further injury- meaning more vet visits and another possible surgery.<br /><br />Obvioulsy, I don't want her to go thru that so it is crucial that she gets this surgery and treatment ASAP!<br /><strong>My goal is to book her surgery as soon as possible, but in order to do that I need to have at least 1/2 of the cost up front- which is estimated to be about $2, 465.00</strong>. The rest will be paid off over a few months.<br /><br />Those who know me will know how difficult it is for me to be asking for this- however, I am pushing my nagging ego aside for the sake of Nootkas health and happiness which is of upmost importance to me. Nootka is the dog I've been dreaming of having by my side since I was a little girl.
