On May 6th, our home was lost to a devastating fire.

Built by my boyfriend's grandparents and passed down through generations, this home held decades of family history — irreplaceable keepsakes, photos, personal artwork, and memories that are now gone. We weren't there when it happened. By the time we knew, it was over.

The one thing we're holding onto: our entire family, including our animals, are safe.

But the road ahead is long and hard. We have fire insurance, though the timeline to settle and rebuild will take months. In the meantime, we need immediate help covering the basics — clothing, groceries, and daily essentials for our family of four and our pets.

Every donation, no matter the size, goes directly toward helping us get back on our feet. And if donating isn't possible right now, sharing this page means everything. Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support during this incredibly difficult time. It is deeply appreciated. ❤️

Support for Our Family After the House Fire

A few years ago, seven friends and I visited Losirwa, a Maasai village two hours west of Arusha, Tanzania. The people laugh easily and have heart-warming senses of humor. They were welcoming and generous despite a very hard life by our standards.

Can you imagine walking four hours, each way, every day for water to brush your teeth or feed your animals? Among their many responsibilities, the Losirwa women spend most of every day walking for water for their families and livestock. If they're lucky, they have 4x4s (donkeys) to carry the water. But whether or not they own a donkey, they all have to walk the long distance, sometimes carrying 5-gallon water containers on their heads and babies on their backs. Sometimes in the oppressive heat. Sometimes in the pouring rain. A gallon of water weighs 8.3 lbs meaning they are carrying 41 pounds on their heads for the four-hour trek home. Because water gathering is such an arduous task, Maasai women shave their heads, not wanting to waste precious water on hair washing.

This campaign, Wishing for a Well, is raising money to drill a well for a new school that Friends of Meali* is building near the Losirwa Primary School. Your donation will help bring clean, safe drinking water directly to nearly 1,000 Losirwa children and adults and lighten the daily burden on these lovely, hard-working women. The well will run on solar power, and our fundraising goal covers the cost of drilling, solar panels and all of the equipment needed to provide a functional well.

Most of us take access to clean water for granted. But, for many, water is a precious dream. Our Tanzanian coordinator, Lucas Mhina, says the villagers are hopeful and excited about this possibility and what it will mean to them.

We live in a time when our world can feel upside down and overwhelming. It's easy to forget that there are people in the world who need us and that we can solve their problems quickly. This campaign for water is an opportunity to give whatever you can and KNOW that you are accomplishing something good. And I promise to post photos and updates of our progress so you can look forward to happy news in your inbox for a change!

Your donation is tax-deductible. Your receipt will be from the PayPal Giving Fund, a 501(c)(3), but they will transfer the money to Friends of Meali. And because Board member contributions cover their overhead expenses, 100% of your donation goes directly to this project.

*Friends of Meali is a 501(c)(3) organization founded in 2009 (by other travelers who were hosted by the people of Losirwa) to provide schools and education for Tanzanian children. Working closely with the community, Friends of Meali has built three schools and served more than 2,000 children to date. Wishing for a Well

There are thousands of go fund me's for people, ranging from moving expenses, to fundraisers for cheercamp, to bucket lists, medical expenses and many more. I suppose it is not fair to deem any more worthy than others, but I would like to tell you about the most deserving family I know.
This go fund me is for an amazing family who has, yet again, been faced with a challenge beyond their control. They need our help. Zac Bollinger is a master auto technician, husband to Sara (a RN), and father of two amazing boys- Everett (5) and Reece (1). Zac has been diagnosed with a large spinal tumor. It started about a year ago when he started having low back pain and attributed it to his very physical job. He followed all work comp's requests but the pain only worsened. Recently he began having serious neurological symptoms and they urgently approved an MRI. The MRI revealed a tumor extending the length of 4 vertebrae, inside the spinal canal, pushing on the spinal cord and wrapping around nerves. It does not appear to be malignant but it is a dangerous mass. Zac needs surgery ASAP and the neurosurgeons are making a plan for UCLA this week. After the surgery there will be a prolonged recovery and very possibly daily radiation for weeks to kill any tumor cells they were not able to excise. Thankfully Zac has medical insurance, but the co-insurance is large at 45%. In addition to the medical bills, there will be travel expenses, childcare, both Zac and Sara taking time off of work, and all life's other bills that occur whether or not a full paycheck is coming in.
Unfortunately for the Bollingers, this is not their first encounter with a life altering illness. Their fist son, Everett was born at 26wks gestation (4 mos early!) and spent his 1st 5mos fighting for his life in the hospital. He nearly lost that fight on more than one occassion. He is a miracle and has overcome many obstacles, and although his life's fight was won and I have never heard his parents be anything but grateful, it was an expensive fight. Even with insurance, they struggled financially for over a year and eventually lost their house. It's taken them years to recover, but they have. Now, they are being faced with those financial burdens again. They will do whatever it takes, but I don't want it to be at the cost of their house again.
So, I am asking you for a couple of things.
1. Pray. Pray for the doctors hands and minds when they excise this tumor. That they may get all of the tumor while leaving his nerves intact. Pray for peace for Sara and the kids during this stressful time. Pray for Zac's healing and for minimal pain. Pray every day please.
-and if you are able-
2. contribute a little to this fund. This amazing family needs help. They have allowed me to ask for it for them. I'm grateful for their transparent vulnerability so that we may be able to help them.

Thank you so much for your love and prayers for the Bollinger family.http://micropreemietomiracle.blogspot.com/
