Hi friends, this is JuneBug - she's about 9 months old. She loves to cuddle, go on adventures, and splash in the cold river. She is the sweetest and smartest pup. Unfortunately, JuneBug is currently dealing with a lot of pain. For the past 3 months, she has had a pretty serious limp in her front right elbow. She is regularly taking 3 different medications for pain management and sedation to keep her off of her leg as much as possible. We've had her checked by her regular vet, as well as the orthopedic specialist. She still currently needs a CAT scan to confirm her likely diagnosis of Elbow Dysplasia. It looks as if she has a fracture in her elbow due to an underdevelopment of the joint, not because of an injury. We know that she will need surgery on her elbow, and that the surgery will cost upwards of $10k+. We do have pet insurance, but they unfortunately will not cover this as it is considered a "preexisting condition." If you know us, then you'll know we recently moved to a new state and got married. And just before that, we lost our German Shepherd suddenly to cancer, and very shortly after lost our 6-month-old puppy, Banjo, to distemper. After going through two sudden losses unexpectedly and lots of expensive life changes, we have drained our savings and maxed out all of our credit options. We are grateful that Junebug's condition is not immediately life-threatening. But her needs are URGENT. If we don't save enough for her surgery in the next few months, her condition will worsen, causing more pain and complications, diminishing her quality of life and increasing the cost of care. She is still just a puppy who wants to run, jump, play, and go on lots of adventures. She currently can't do those things like normal until her condition is under control. We need your help.
