My name is Charles Jacobs, a retired disabled military veteran. I live in a community where I volunteer to assist seniors in the neighborhood with lawn care, food, house repairs, or any task that I can to make their life a little better. There is an eighty-seven-year-old military veteran who has undergone so many atrocities over the last few years. His name is Mr. Fabian Bothwell. A year ago, his house burned down. Fortunately, through the grace of God, his insurance rebuilt the house. Unfortunately, he is living on social security and makes fishing nets to supplement his income. He is at a point financially where he can’t build those nets anymore. In October 2025, he lost his wife, who was experiencing severe medical conditions. A year before she died, she lost a leg and had about three strokes. She was bedridden, then she had him bring her home. This elderly man, who is not in good physical condition, took care of his wife, changing her diapers, cooking, lifting her to bathe her every day, and simultaneously making fishing nets to try and make money to feed himself and his disabled wife. I have assisted him as much as I possibly can with food, keeping his vehicle running, maintaining his yard, home repairs, and anything that I can to help him through his life challenges. Tonight, he walked over and tried to just visit. I am always concerned about his financial situation. He is a very independent individual and turns down any assistance from anyone. He disclosed he only had $40.00 in his bank account. Right now, I don’t have the funds to assist him. I tried to give him $400.00 worth of silver ounces to help until he gets his social security check. It is Christmas Eve and I feel terrible about his situation; I see him struggling every day. He has a daughter that resides with him. She lost her job and just a few weeks ago got a cashier job working only a few hours a week. I am begging you to find it in your heart to assist me in raising some money to assist Mr. Fabian through this difficult period in his life. I turned to you to collect a GoFundMe charity. Your donation will surely go to someone who is in desperate need and will not ask you donors personally for assistance. I am his voice and I have tears rolling down my cheeks for this man. Mr. Fabian, regardless of his severe financial situation, wouldn’t ask you personally for help. Currently, if he acknowledged that I was soliciting through this portal for assistance, he would definitely reject it. But God instills in us humility, empathy, compassion, trust, faith, and caring for others who are suffering. We all will, if we live, become dependent again as age takes away from our independence. It would be a blessing from God, could raise enough money to pay off is mortgage and his bills and he won’t have to worry about anything in his last years on earth. I wholeheartedly believe you have in your heart, together we can make this endeavor a success. Whatever you can afford will be greatly appreciated.
