I’m raising funds for my friend Connie Mills after her parents were in a car accident today. Connie’s father passed away, and her mother was life flighted to Erlanger with broken ribs and other medical issues. In a matter of hours, Connie’s family has been hit with both heartbreaking loss and a serious medical emergency.

<div>Hi, my name is Michael Barron and I am doing a fundraiser for Kim Batchelor. Since my first posts, Kim has been having ups and downs but has been improving slowly over the long term. Sasha is starting to prepare for her return Home. There are going to be some long-term needs. She is going to need a lift chair, a hospital bed with rails, a transfer shower chair, modifying entrance to the home, bathrooms modified so Kim can use them, a walker and railing throughout the home, PT for months to come, follow up appointments, medications, and hospital supplies Plus their two income family is going down to one for the foreseeable future. These are things that we thought of very quickly. I am sure there will be more expenses that will pop up in the future. Please help.

<div>For those who don't know here is some background. Kim is very sick. Sasha(Kim's Wife) and Kim had a vacation last week to celebrate their honeymoon and Kim got sick the second she got on the cruise ship. She remained sick the entire trip until I picked them both up at the airport. We rushed Kim to the hospital where she went emergency surgery.
</div>
<div>The Dr's found out that She has a perforated bowel and a big infection. There’s stool, fluid, infection, and air all in her abdominal cavity. Her heart rate is high and her blood pressure is very low. She’s was in more pain than I’ve ever seen her. 
</div>
<div>The surgeon let me know that there was a hole in her sigmoid colon, but he doesn’t know if that was everything. Everything was very inflamed and angry and it was very hard to tell the difference in all the parts of the abdomen because of all the swelling and leaking. He did have to remove a small piece of her colon completely. 
</div>
<div>They pulled almost 2 liters of fluid, puss, infection and feces from her abdominal cavity. 
</div>
<div>Because of everything, he could not complete it laparoscopically, so she has a cut from right under her chest to right above her pubic bone. It’s a very large incision. 
</div>
<div>Her body did not do well while in surgery. He said at first everything was going along fine and then suddenly her blood pressure went very very low and they had to bring it back up with medication. She is on a lot of medication. For the infection, to keep her blood pressure up, for pain, to help her rest, to help her breathe, etc. In the OR, her blood pressure bottomed out, code level, and she lost a lot of blood. She got 2 pints of blood and 2 pints of plasma products as well as other fluids and medications to bring her back.

<div>Kim is still bleeding through her organs, kind of like water seeps through a towel. So this is causing her blood pressure to be very low. There is a possibility she is bleeding from somewhere else as well, we just don’t know yet.

<div>Today she received another pint of blood while Sheryl &amp; I were there and another pint of plasma. That brings her blood pint count up to 4 ( 2 in the OR and 2 since) and plasma pint count up to 5 or 6. She’s received countless bags of fluids as well. 
</div>

<div>She’s still on meds to keep her blood pressure up and is not tolerating the dose being lowered.
</div>
<div>She’s still on pain meds and meds to keep her sleeping and comfortable. 
</div>
<div>She remains on heavy antibiotics to fight the infection, IV Tylenol for fever, etc.

<div>That being said, with the medication right now, the nurse said she is doing pretty good, but she’s still critical.

<div>She does wake up if we rouse her, say her name, but she is sleeping harder today than she was sleeping this morning. We are happy to see her getting good rest so she can heal. She can open her eyes and follow us with them. She recognized Sheryl and me, was able so wiggle her toes for us and squeeze our hands. She also lets us know she’s hot or in pain. She has been running kinda hot.

<div>The nurse said she had to give her 6 bolus (extra) pain meds today.

<div>Her vitals have been more stable since they bumped the levophed back up.

<div>Today, the surgeon’s goal is to take her back to the OR tomorrow morning. That is very dependent on how stable she stays tonight. If he doesn’t feel comfortable with how she’s doing he will put it off longer. We don’t know what time, but we will be back up here as early as possible.

<div>The outgoing nurse feels confident that she will get another pint of blood tonight to her prepare for surgery tomorrow.

<div>She is very sick and will be in ICU for a long time. She will be in the hospital for a very long time. It’s possible that she will never work again. There are a lot of unknowns right now.

<div>Kim will remain in the hospital and is going to need multiple surgeries and lots of time to get better. She will not be able to work for the foreseeable future, but bills will continue to pile up. They would never ask but they really could use help for the short term and maybe the long term. I am trying to raise enough money to cover the mortgage and two car payments for a couple of months. Sasha cannot do it alone. These two people are awesome human beings.

My parents do not have any kind of life insurance and my dad isn't in the best of shape and they don't have a lot of money.  My mom's cancer came back a couple of months ago and the doctors said, 2 weeks ago, that she wouldn't have but a few weeks and that there isn't anything they can do but make her comfortable.  I would like to raise the money to be able to cover the funeral cost.

I'm Dr. Kwane Stewart, I've been a veterinarian for over 20+ years and over the past few years I've been passionately motivated to impact the lives of our homeless pets and people. When I had spare time or if I happened to be driving home and saw a pet and owner in need, I would offer some assistance. A quick check up, maybe some medication or food...it wasn't a lot but sometimes <strong>giving a little can make all the difference</strong>. <br /><br /><img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/41757858_1582051629803393_r.jpeg" alt="41757858_1582051629803393_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" /><br />Working on the streets I've experienced some of the most <strong>genuine stories of love, compassion, struggle and hope</strong>. It's been life changing and truly inspiring. Recently, I was given an opportunity to share my journey through a TV series called "The Street Vet". Some of the pets I come across need treatment (life-saving in some cases) that can be very costly and it's hard to ever say no to a pet that’s suffering. Such as the dog named <strong>Dinker and his owner Walter</strong> (below) who have a connection like no other. Unfortunately, Dinker has a very rare condition that requires a surgery from a specialist.  We are currently working on trying to make that happen but it is an extremely expensive procedure. <br /><br /><img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/41757858_1567530217675064_r.jpeg" alt="41757858_1567530217675064_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" /><br />This is just one of the many stories I come across and why I'm starting this Go Fund Me. The cost of minor treatments like an ear infections, flea treatment or vaccines can be around $100 where as more serious cases like a tumor removal or dental with extractions can be $1500. All donations will go to the care of these pets and will surely make a difference in the owners lives as well. <br /><br />I will be giving updates on the pets and people I continue to meet, and everyone can see how your kindness is making a difference. The Street Vet

<p>My name is Sophie and, on Sunday afternoon, May 15, 2016, at approximately 3:00 p.m., my sister Sadie and I were playing with a child a few doors down from our house.   <br /><br />Suddenly, a shot from a .22 caliber rifle came directly into the yard where we were with the child.  Thank God it missed the child, but it did hit me.   The police were called but they only took a perfunctory report and no follow up is expected.<br /><br />My "mom" rushed me to the weekend Emergency Veterinarian Hospital, the closest one being fifty (50) miles away from our house.   The vet techs came out with a gurney and rushed me into the hospital.<br />After some pain medications, antibiotics and x-rays, my "mom" was told that the bullet went straight through my left leg, damaging flesh and muscle and traveled on into my right leg, fracturing my femur in two places and lodging the bullet up against/into the bone.   She was given two options:  (1) amputate my right leg at the hip or (2) do an open-reduction surgery to insert plates and screws to repair the two severe fractures and remove the bullet.<br /><br />My "mom" refused the first option and asked that surgery be done to save my leg.   She was told that I would have to be transported to their other location (another 15 miles away) for the surgery to be scheduled for Monday because their facility did not have any surgeons on site on Mondays.   They cleaned, shaved, irrigated the wounds, and sedated me for the ride.   My "mom" had to pay $1,027.35 at the first clinic prior to being released to go to the second location.   They brought me back out on a gurney and loaded me into my "mom's" car.  We then drove the fifteen (15) additional miles to the other Emergency Veterinarian Clinic where I was admitted.<br /><br />I was sedated again for the pain and had to spend the night at this clinic.   My "mom" had to pay another $1025.00 to cover my overnight stay, with pain medications and antibiotics.<br /><br />During the night, I experienced complications with excessive bleeding from the wound.  I was given more medications and a compression band to hopefully help with clotting.<br /><br />On Monday, I am supposed to be transferred to an Operating Facility, where my leg fractures will be repaired, with plates and screws and, at that time, the bullet will also be removed.   Now, the scheduling of the surgery will depend on how I'm evaluated after the complications Sunday night.  We do not have the actual total for the operation and additional services, but the estimates were between $5,000.00 to $7,000.00., which will not cover my after-care once I return home.<br /><br />We are not a wealthy family.  My "mom" rescued me four and a half years ago from euthanasia after I had been abused and starved nearly to death.  I was a happy, healthy dog who loved everyone until some senseless act by a cowardly idiot has changed my life completely.   These medical expenses will be a severe hardship on our family and we would all be so grateful, so thankful, so appreciative for any assistance you can give us to assist during this horrible, and senseless, situation.<br /><br />There is also an offering of a reward for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person who fired into a residential yard where a child and two dogs were playing.<br /><br />Thank you for your time in reading my story and thank you for any assistance you can provide.<br /><br />puppy-hugs-&amp;-puppy-kisses,<br />-- Sophie<br /><br />P.S.</p>

After the doctors took some scans, it is apparent that she has a brain tumor. This tumor is 4cm and is going to require surgery; possibly radiation and chemo.
