Please help Mira family to evacuate Gaza

<div>Hello my name is Amani . I have created this fundraiser in hope to help my friend, Doaa Hamdouna, and her family which consists of my friend, her husband, and her two children, Zeyad , 4years old, and Alma, one year old. My friend and her family have been in very difficult conditions in Gaza after the 7th of October, as they were displaced from their home 4 times. The two children left their home for the first time and moved to their family’s home, and then they moved with the family to another, less safe home. Then the army ordered them to flee to southern Gaza, so they fled to the ground, then they ended up fleeing to a small tent and sleeping on the sand.
</div>
<div><br />
</div><img alt="" media_type="3" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/81010579_171936168034121_r." width="100%" />
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Since the war on Gaza started, she lost almost everything on second March , she lost 30 members of my family ( father's family) in one second. One rocket was enough to end the life of her 2 uncles, 2 aunts and all their sons, daughter, stepdaughters and grandchildren. None of them were left alive.
</div><img alt="" media_type="3" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/81010579_1719361968901546_r." width="100%" />
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The family is suffering from a lack of food, especially the children. Alma, ran out of her mother’s milk due to malnutrition, and the price of infant formula doubled. Zeyad saw the simplest thing that could be available to children, which was apples, and he screamed and cried, wanting a banana, but the price of one apple reached $8.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>There was also a lack of healthy drinking water, which caused them severe stomach pain, and both my friend and her husband became infected with hepatitis A. Due to the conditions imposed by the occupation and siege and the lack of resources, it has been difficult for the family to provide the children with basic and simple needs, such as diapers. It is difficult to provide for Zeyad and Alma’s needs, and because of the poor types of diapers available, Salma suffered from a skin rash.
</div>
<div><br />
</div><img alt="" media_type="3" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/81010579_1719361755278716_r." width="100%" />
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>To make matters worse, the displacements occurred during summer. Their tent provides little defense against the scorching sun , with numerous insects spreading inside. This has left their children frightened by the noise of insects and the intense heat, mistaking the buzz for something more sinister.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The family also suffers from the lack of a bathroom or even a shower. They can only shower once a month using a bucket due to the lack of water. The water is cold because there is no electricity or gas to heat the water. Every morning, Walaa washes her children's clothes with cold water and spread the clothes out in the open. If food is found, it is cooked on firewood and it is completely unhealthy and tastes bad because of the firewood.
</div>
<div><br />
</div><img alt="" media_type="3" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/81010579_1719361794403333_r." width="100%" />
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Zeyad and Alma are the most precious thing they own. Saad and Doaa were happy with the arrival of their child Alma, as they were taking pictures of her during her first months to keep in their memories the stages of their child’s growth. They never imagined that the child would grow up to 8 months during the war! Or for Omar to suddenly grow up and learn to pound wood for tents and firewood.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>They never imagined their lives would be like this. My friend and her husband had a beautiful, quiet life in Gaza with big dreams for their two children, planning for a brilliant future. They both had a steady job and a stable income. There was a house with a roof to shelter them and a warm bed for the children, and all their needs were available, but the war deprived them of that.
</div>
<div><br />
</div><img alt="" media_type="3" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/81010579_1719361833197436_r." width="100%" />
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Asking for your help is the only way they have to rescue their family’s life and future, your help may become their hope when hope is far away from us under these conditions, every dollar you can help with may save a life, bring hope to a tired heart and save a future of a youth one.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Please don’t read this as a tragedy story ,, I’m here to ask you to prevent it from getting more tragedy and to help us start our life all over again. I’m here to ask for your help not your sympathy , to ask you to take action whether by donating or by sharing this to everyone you know who can help, please read this with your heart and take action as if it’s your family, your mom, your siblings who are under these conditions.

<div><br />
</div>
<div>Your donation and sharing of their story will help them greatly to rebuild their lives, provide the necessary protection for their children, and provide their basic necessities of food, treatment, and necessities.

<p> Hello, I am Mahmoud. I live in northern Gaza. My family and I. At the beginning of the war, our house was demolished and burned, with all our beautiful memories. They left us no memories at home. <div>URGENT UPDATE: Help Asia Heal
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Hello friends,
</div>
<div>I recently suffered a serious injury. While cooking lunch for my family, an explosion shook our area. In panic, I fell down the stairs and broke my leg in two places.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Now I’m struggling to walk and need crutches, food (like eggs and milk), and nutritional supplements to support my recovery.
</div>
<div>But here in Gaza, prices are incredibly high — one egg costs $6, and a carton of milk is $50. It’s almost impossible to afford the basics.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Any help — even a small donation — means the world to me.
</div>
<div>With hope and gratitude,
</div>

<div>Urgent Financial Assistance Needed for Displaced Family From Gaza
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I hope this message finds you well. My name is Asia I once enjoyed beautiful and stable lives, and I have my own job and sources of income, cherishing moments with my family exploring cafes and tourist spots, capturing memories with photographs.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Unfortunately, everything changed for the worse after the events of October 7th. We lost our homes, stability, and livelihoods, finding ourselves in tents for displaced people in the Rafah camp in the Gaza Strip. Life became a daily struggle for survival, and our once joyous gatherings turned into the pursuit of basic necessities like collecting firewood for meals.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Now, we are in desperate need of immediate financial assistance to cover essential matters:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>1. **Personal Expenses:** As we are currently without jobs, we are struggling to meet our daily personal expenses.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>2. **Clothing and Bedding:** Having left everything behind during forced displacement, we urgently need funds to purchase clothing and bedding.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>3. **Transit Costs:** We require financial support for the transit from Gaza to the Rafah crossing.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>4. **Short-Term Accommodation:** Renting an apartment in Egypt for a short period is crucial for us to plan our next steps.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>5. **Travel Tickets and Accommodation Costs:** Funds are needed for travel tickets and other accommodation costs as we seek a safer and more stable environment.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>6. **Starting Over:** Additional support for some basic expenses to help us restart our lives.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Your assistance in any form would make a significant impact on our ability to overcome these challenges. Your generosity can provide us with the means to secure shelter, food, and the chance to rebuild our lives.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We genuinely appreciate your consideration and understanding during these difficult times. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you require any further information or clarification.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Thank you for your time and support.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Sincerely,
</div>

<div><br />
</div>
<div>Hello everyone!
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I’m Brittany from Southern California. I’m trying to help Asia and her actively displaced family in Rafah/Nuseirat raise money to start their displacement all over again. They finally raised enough money and got on the list to evacuate when the Rafah crossing was destroyed and now must find new amenities to survive all over again. My heart sunk when I heard the news. Every basic need is triple the price or more than usual and she and her family need help in any way possible.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Asia and I do not know each other but I have been following her account for a few months and have been talking, donating and sharing her stories the best ways I can. We love both adore food and hopefully one day will get to cook together. This is my first GoFundMe and whatever funds we raise will go straight to Asia and her family as the beneficiaries. Anyone’s help is immensely appreciated. Thank you for your kindness and humanity! It’s so important and we need to remember how interconnected all of our lives are.

Help Belal's family to rebuild their home in Gaza

<div><strong>UPDATE (11/8/2024):</strong> BIG NEWS! After being closed for 2 months, the Hammad family has a new campaign! LINK: <a href="https://gofund.me/e974621f" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><a href="https://gofund.me/e974621f" target="_blank" class="" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">https://gofund.me/e974621f</a></a>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>ADDITIONALLY: Bilal's younger sister Reem has been hospitalized with liver cirrhosis and a weakened heart muscle. Her condition is very serious. She will eventually need a liver transplant. For now, in Gaza, she is getting treatment to stabilize her liver, but there is nothing to treat her heart. She needs to afford this treatment and healthy food. Please continue to support at the new link, or Haitham's link.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Bilal has been supporting not only his family of 4, but others as well. Amira’s cancer is being treated, Hala’s eyes are being treated, Bilal maintains his regimen to treat his high blood pressure, and the family is looking for psychological help for Hassan.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Bilal’s sister Yasmine and her 2 children just moved into the same small apartment in Egypt, so their grocery and supplies bill will grow.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The sum they have raised has been wisely used for dozens of people’s survival and medical treatment. Please help Bilal, Amira, Hala, Hassan, and the many others who depend on these funds continue to get by.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The new campaign is run by another trusted friend: Betsy, who lives in Canada (the difference in country/currency is why we had to create a new one instead of transferring the existing one).
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Thank you so much. For your support thus far, and please continue! Things only continue to worsen both inside Gaza and in Egypt, since Palestinians in Egypt are not given refugee status or citizenship, and are often discriminated against and exploited.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>UPDATE (6/17/2024):</strong> Hi everyone. Thank you for reading this update. Bilal and his family are still getting medical treatment (as available) in Egypt. Although they’re no longer under bombardment, post evacuation life has <em>not</em> been easy. Their bodies and minds are still recovering from what they experienced, and there is enormous stress and anguish about their family members who remain in Gaza.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>After much deliberation and with reluctance, the family has decided to increase their goal again. I say reluctance because they know that many others need support too, and feel embarrassed that they are still in need… but this is what their situation has done to them: made them feel guilty for seeking ongoing support after experiencing a genocide. The truth is, all Gazans need both immediate AND ongoing support. Rebuilding a life from nothing doesn’t happen easily. It takes a village.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We are increasing the goal again to $180,000 so that the Hammad family can access their basic needs, medical care, and can take steps to secure their future. They currently pay rent, groceries, medical treatment, clothing/toiletries/shoes, transportation, phone internet, houseware/kitchenware for their rental, and so on. It adds up quickly. And they know it will cost thousands when they're finally able to head to Canada.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>So far, Hala has received treatment for her eyes and Amira has received dental work and tests to determine the best course of action for her cancer. Next, Bilal must start his treatment plan for his high blood pressure, which is dangerously high due to stress and trauma. Hassan will also need to get psychological treatment for his trauma.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We are truly astounded and grateful for your generosity and solidarity during the Hammad family’s very worst days of their lives. Just as a personal note—I feel privileged to know the Hammad family; Bilal is like a brother to me. I am deeply touched by everyone’s support. Thank you.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>UPDATE (5/30/24):</strong> The family is getting their medical treatment done. Amira is having dental work and will soon resume cancer treatment. Hala is getting treated for her vision loss from the white phosphorus. They were able to get clothing, food, and temporary housing thanks to your generous donations. They have increased the goal one final time to $140,000. Truly, a family with medical needs who’s had their entire life, home, and livelihood destroyed needs much more, but they do not want to ask too much of people. As soon as Canada allows for Palestinian refugees to travel there; they want to be ready to go immediately. They thank you all so deeply for your generosity—these have been the worst days of the Hammad family’s life. And God knows it will take many years to regain any semblance of “normalcy.” Thank you for standing with Bilal, Amira, Hala, and Hassan. ❤️
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>UPDATE (5/7/24):</strong> BILAL, AMIRA, HALA, &amp; HASSAN EVACUATED! ❤️ They did so on May 5, just a day before the cruel announcement that the ground invasion would be starting, thank God. They have increased the campaign goal to $130,000 and are deeply moved by everyone’s generosity. They hope to get flights and visas to Canada and begin the asylum process there ASAP. It’s sobering to realize what it means to be a refugee—building an entirely new life from scratch. Thank you everyone.

<div><strong>UPDATE (4/29/24):</strong> Bilal and family have increased their goal from $80,000 to $95,000 to reflect a more accurate estimate of costs to immigrate to/seek asylum in Canada—including flights, application fees, and immigration attorney for their 4 family members. The good news is that Bilal’s brother Banan has registered them with the Ya Hala travel company. They have been waiting for their names to appear on the list! Today there was terrifying bombardment in their tent camp and shrapnel hit 8 yr old Hassan. It broke skin, but luckily did cut through him. Thank God. Thank you everyone for your continued support!

<div><strong>UPDATE (4/16/24):</strong> The Hammad family has increased their fundraising goal from $60,000 to $80,000 for the following reasons:
</div>
<div>—foreseen costs of medical expenses increase as their conditions, especially Hala’s (vision loss) and Amira’s (cancer and miscarriage), worsen
</div>
<div>—anticipated costs of education for the children post-evacuation
</div>
<div>—the ongoing exorbitant fees
</div>
<div>We deeply thank every person who has contributed so far. It is no exaggeration to say that your funds are saving their lives. ❤️

<div><strong>UPDATE: Tragically, Amira miscarried on April 3, 2024.</strong> We ask for prayers for the baby, who has now joined 8 month old Kamel as a martyr in Heaven. We ask for prayers for Amira, and the whole family. The family is devastated, as are those of us who love and support them. Pray for the babies and mothers of Gaza.

<div>Hi, I'm Mariah. I'm in New Jersey, in the US. I am fundraising on behalf of my friend, Bilal Hammad, and his family, because this platform is not supported in their region. Bilal and I met through a mutual aid group.

<div><strong>Bilal and his family are in a TRULY DIRE situation—his recently-miscarried wife Amira has cancer, his daughter Hala is experiencing vision loss from white phosphorus, and all they have to shelter them is a flimsy plastic tent by the sea after being displaced from their destroyed home in Khan Younis City. <em>Tragically, Bilal's 8 month old son was martyred in an airstrike.</em></strong>

<div><em>"My family's situation is very bad. We are a </em><strong><em>family of 5.</em></strong><em> I am displaced with my children and my family as a result of the war and bombing. I am homeless in the city of </em><strong><em>Rafah.</em></strong><em> We are living in a very, very difficult situation without food and drink. My children and I are asking for merciful hearts to help us so that we can stay alive. My wife is </em><strong><em>pregnant</em></strong><em> and we live in tents in Rafah. My wife also have </em><strong><em>cancer. </em></strong><em>We are asking for help of compassionate hearts so that we may remain. We want to </em><strong><em>evacuate </em></strong><em>so that we can live a </em><strong><em>safe and happy life."</em></strong>

</div>
<div><strong>They MUST get out of Gaza for their safety NOW. </strong>Their fundraising goal of $60,000 (update: now $180,000) reflects the <strong>following ways the funds will be needed and spent:</strong>
</div>
<ul>
<li>broker fee per person to safely cross through the Rafah border crossing into Egypt ($3k-$10k per person, subject to change)
</li>
<li>expenses for food
</li>
<li>shelter (rent)
</li>
<li>goods like clothing and toiletries
</li>
<li>medical expenses
</li>
<li>travel expenses (flights, visas, immigration legal fees for eventual asylum process in Canada)
</li>
<li>the platform fees (about 2.9% each) of GoFundMe and PayPal or Western Union
</li>
<li>update: education costs, increased medical expenses, increased fees
</li>
<li>unforseen expenses that arise in order to rebuild their lives
</li>
</ul>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>How the funds will be securely transferred:</strong>
</div>
<div>These funds will be collected into Mariah’s US-based bank account, then distributed to Bilal’s brother Banan in Egypt. Banan will then use the funds to register the family at Ya Hala travel agency in Cairo, which will put their names on the evacuation list. Then the family will evacuate through Rafah Crossing. (Update: Bilal’s brother Banan evacuated April 7th, and we are able to transfer the money to him)

<div>As reported by The Guardian on Jan 8, 2024, Palestinians are being charged up to $5k-$10k per person in order to get on the list and safely cross into Egypt via the Rafah border crossing: <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/global-development/2024/jan/08/palestinians-flee-gaza-rafah-egypt-border-bribes-to-brokers" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><a href="http://www.theguardian.com/global-development/2024/jan/08/palestinians-flee-gaza-rafah-egypt-border-bribes-to-brokers" target="_blank" class="" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">http://www.theguardian.com/global-development/2024/jan/08/palestinians-flee-gaza-rafah-egypt-border-bribes-to-brokers</a></a>
