What they care about

a life of lies, brought into the light of the truth in everything that changed in my life

My name is Patrick Shannon, and I am asking for help during one of the most difficult periods of my life. I proudly served in the United States Army for seven years and was honorably discharged. As a result of my military service and deployment experiences, I live with PTSD and am currently rated 70% service-connected through the VA. Long before my military service, I experienced a heartbreaking loss that has stayed with me my entire life. I lost my mother as a child and grew up without answers, carrying grief and unanswered questions that never fully healed. Over the years, the weight of trauma, loss, and mental health struggles contributed to addiction and a downward spiral that affected every area of my life. Despite my efforts to keep moving forward, I have experienced setback after setback. Recently, I lost the home I was in the process of buying, losing not only my housing but also the stability and future I had worked so hard to build. To make matters worse, I lost my vehicle after becoming the victim of a con artist, leaving me without reliable transportation and creating even more financial hardship. Today, I am focused on healing, and rebuilding my life. I am working to maintain my sobriety, address my mental health challenges, and regain stability in my life. Funds raised will be used for housing, transportation, essential living expenses, recovery-related needs, and rebuilding a stable foundation for the future. Asking for help is not easy for me. The Army taught me strength, resilience, and self-reliance, but sometimes strength means accepting help when you need it most. Any donation, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference. If you are unable to contribute financially, sharing this fundraiser would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read my story, for your support, and for helping me take the next steps toward rebuilding my life. With gratitude, Patrick Shannon
