<div>I’m reaching out to everyone on behalf of Alyson Hui. A few weeks ago, she was diagnosed with Myeloma, a blood cancer, and has commenced treatment at Mount Sinai. While she goes in and out for chemotherapy, she cannot work and is in need of assistance. Alyson is an individual who is constantly thinking and caring for others, so now it’s our chance to give back.

<div>On December 20th, a fire broke out at a residential building with more than 100 apartments. Sadly, hundreds of our neighbors in Sunnyside have been displaced just before the holidays. The community has already shown an outpouring of support in so many ways, including with donations of clothing and pet care items. At this time, community groups and tenants are asking for monetary donations. This vital cash assistance can be given to the residents so they can take care of immediate needs. Local community groups have asked Sunnyside Community Services to assist them in securing and distributing funds to residents impacted by the fire. Other community partners and organizations are ready to join and help spread the word so we can help raise as much funds as possible to support our neighbors. Please donate what you can and please share this page with your network.

<div>Sunnyside Community Services (SCS) has received questions regarding the distribution. SCS is currently focused on bringing awareness of this fundraiser so we can raise as much money as possible to provide financial support to those impacted by the fire. We are having conversations with tenant leaders and other groups who have gone through a similar experience. We will continue to provide updates and will be sure that those impacted receive information regarding the distribution of these funds. 100% of the funds collected (outside the fees from GoFundMe) will support the people impacted by the fire. We thank everyone for their incredible generosity.

<div>Our little boy, Rusty, was limping this morning and crying out in distress. I thought he had fallen and injured his leg, so I took him to the cat repair shop. (To get him into his carrying case I told him he was going for spa treatments. He seemed to buy that.) After an examination and imaging, it was determined that he has a blood clot in his leg and indications of heart disease. Long story short, he will need surgery and a hospital stay. I signed papers this evening agreeing to "if there are no complications..." charges of $6,961.79. If there are any other issues, the cost will be greater.

Dear Fashion and Textile Studies Family, Lourdes Font, long time and much loved professor in our program lost everything in a devastating fire on March 12th.  Not a stick of furniture, piece of clothing, or book was salvageable. Nor can she ever go back to her building. Our collective hearts break for her. As a person who has so tirelessly helped us at FIT, she could use a little help from us now. We have started this GoFund Me donation site for her.  There is nothing we can do to bring back her losses, but we can reassure her that she has our love and that we can in some way help her forge ahead with her new life. Your participation alone will mean a lot, and we know we can reach this goal with many small donations. Fundraiser for Lourdes

The morning of December 13th, a devastating fire ripped through the heart of our neighborhood of Sunnyside, Queens, destroying six businesses and leaving dozens of employees out of work in the middle of the holidays.  While we are grateful that there was no loss of life, the toll on our business community is unimaginable, and for residents of our neighborhood, many precious memories of good times at these businesses are also up in smoke. What has transpired in the hours since this fire are testament to this amazing community----hundreds of individuals have inquired about how they can help, and every single community organization has expressed their interest in lending their resources to help our business owners and employees back on their feet. Together, within hours of the fire, we have already organized a Resource Fair and Community Fundraiser for December 17th, and we continue to connect businesses to resources available through New York City's emergency management systems.  Your donation is tax deductible, and all funds will be used in their entirety to provide relief to employees of the businesses affected by the fire. The Sunnyside Fire Emergency Fund is the product of the efforts of several dozen individuals and community groups, who have united to heal our community in the face of this tragedy. Dear Friends,  My good friend Nathan just lost all of his property in tragic fire that occured in his building last night.  Him and his cat and the rest of the tenants are safe but their property is not.  Please assist. Seven years ago  Max Samu was diagnosed with <a href="http://www.cancer.org/cancer/hodgkindisease/" target="_blank">Hodgkin’s Lymphoma</a> (The Good Cancer!). Max never lost his positive, and cheerful attitude, and along with his wonderful team of doctors, and nurses in Glens Falls, NY, and support of his family (plus 3 months of Chemotherapy, and 2 months of Radiation) he beat it.  While everything had been put on hold during the treatment, and recovery, Max moved forward and started to live his life again. Max graduated from college, married his beautiful wife Sarah, and had his son Jack. He moved his family to Brooklyn to begin his career in the movie/television industry. During the last two plus years Max has been working as a Production Assistant on the CBS show Elementary, Starz’ Power, and HBO’s Vinyl to name a few. He is right on track for his “dream job” of being a Script Supervisor in the next year. <img class="not-resizable" src="https://2dbdd5116ffa30a49aa8-c03f075f8191fb4e60e74b907071aee8.ssl.cf1.rackcdn.com/9790693_1457546093.0969_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" /> In August 2015 Max was given his 6-year “clean bill of health badge” (if there is such a thing) and Max and Sarah decided it was now time to add to their family. Their Christmas present to us was the news that another baby is on its way. It sounded like a storybook beginning. In February 2016 the ever-diligent Max found 4 small lumps on the side of his neck. Max made the trip to Glens Falls to see his oncologist the following week. Three weeks later Max was admitted to <a href="https://www.mskcc.org/?gclid=CIqEuKWRtMsCFdU7gQodvhQFhw" target="_blank">Sloan Kettering Hospital</a> with<a href="http://www.cancer.org/cancer/leukemia-acutelymphocyticallinadults/detailedguide/leukemia-acute-lymphocytic-treating-typical-treatment" target="_blank"> Acute t-cell Lymphoblastic Leukemia</a> . He will be in the hospital for a minimum of 4 weeks getting Chemotherapy with two years of follow-up chemo, and drug therapy. Max, Sarah, Jack and New Baby Samu are reaching out to family, and friends, and the extended <a href="https://www.gofundme.com/" target="_blank">Go Fund Me</a> family for help with what are sure to be large hospital bills and household expenses mostly rent and food. Max &amp; Sarah would love to be able to keep their Brooklyn apartment so they can stay close to the hospital, Max’ work, and the friends they and Jack have made in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. RMS is a very rare aggressive childhood cancer of the connective tissue. There are only about 350 cases of RMS diagnosed each year in the United States. About four children per million healthy kids under the age of 15 will develop RMS each year.  Currently, Kiley has started a yearlong course of chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Kiley and her family have a long road ahead and need as much support as possible. All donations collected will go directly to Kiley's family to offset any expenses that occur due to Kiley's treatment. Please give what you can, since every bit will help.
