What they care about

Dedicated to supporting the visually impaired, empowering independence, and helping youth access resources to grow, learn, and thrive in today’s society.

My name is Kelvin, and I want to first thank everyone who took the time to read, care, share, or support my family during one of the hardest moments of our lives. I’m writing today with an honest update and continued hope. Since my last message, our family did go through the eviction. It was a painful and stressful experience for us, especially with two young children, ages 10 and 4. However, by the grace of God and the kindness of people around us, we were able to find another place to live. We did not reach the full goal we were originally trying to raise, but we refused to give up and kept pushing forward for the sake of our children. Right now we are still in the process of rebuilding and settling into this new place. Many things are still stabilizing. For a while we did not even have reliable internet access, which is why I have not been able to provide updates sooner. Slowly but surely we are getting things back into place. I am still recovering from ankle surgery and remain in the healing process. Because I am visually impaired and currently unable to put full weight on my ankle, I am continuing physical therapy and receiving medical care to regain strength and mobility. Until my recovery improves, working the way I normally would has been extremely difficult. My wife has been doing everything she can to keep our household together during this time. She has carried a heavy load while we focus on keeping our children safe, stable, and emotionally supported through all of this change. Although we now have a roof over our heads again, we are still trying to reach the level of stability our family needs to fully move forward. The support we are asking for is not about avoiding responsibility — it is about giving our family the breathing room needed for me to heal properly, return to work, and provide for my household again in a positive and sustainable way. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps us rebuild stability after this difficult chapter. Support will help us maintain our housing, continue medical recovery, cover essential living expenses, and ensure our children can continue to feel safe and secure in their home. If you are unable to donate, simply sharing our story with others would mean just as much. Compassion and community support truly make a difference during times like these. Thank you for taking the time to read our update and for caring about the wellbeing of our family. Your kindness, prayers, and support mean more than words can express.
My name is Kelvin Worthy, and this fundraiser represents six years of resilience, rebuilding, and refusing to give up on myself or my family. On December 9, 2019 — the day after my birthday — I lost my eyesight. What began as sudden vision loss quickly escalated. Twenty-three days later, I underwent emergency brain surgery. I was diagnosed with intracranial hypertension and retinal edema, which caused severe, permanent damage to my retinas and optic nerves. That day became the last time I ever saw the faces of my wife and daughter. The years that followed were some of the hardest of our lives. My wife, my daughter, and I endured the challenges of the pandemic while also facing multiple evictions, instability, prejudice, and the emotional toll of adjusting to blindness. Despite it all, we stayed humble, united, and determined. We were blessed with a son — a remarkable child who has also faced his own medical battles since birth — and our family has continued to push forward together. During this period, I had to relearn how to walk, how to communicate with confidence, and how to socialize again. I began rebuilding my life from the ground up. Step by step, I taught myself new skills to regain independence: digital marketing, AI technology, and online business strategies. I learned how to use platforms like ChatGPT, Canva, Gemini, Brock, Facebook Ads, Instagram Ads, Google Ads, and LinkedIn Ads. I forced myself to grow in areas where I once felt limited, determined to provide a better future for my family. A year ago, I secured a job at an Amazon facility. Shortly after, I was injured at work. My Workers’ Compensation claim has been a difficult uphill battle, and I have been working through the recovery process with limited support. Even with these setbacks, I remain focused on rebuilding and standing strong for my wife and children. Six months ago, I took a major step toward independence by opening my own company, Oscar Worthy LLC. My vision is to build a sustainable career through digital marketing, AI-driven creative work, and community projects. To grow this business and to function independently as a visually-impaired entrepreneur, I urgently need updated accessibility tools, assistive technology, training resources, and reliable equipment. This GoFundMe will help me: • Access advanced accessibility tools for the visually impaired • Cover essential technology and software for digital marketing and AI development • Strengthen my business foundation so I can provide for my family • Move forward toward long-term independence and stability My journey has been marked by adversity, but also by faith, perseverance, and love for my family. I’m choosing growth over defeat, purpose over pain, and independence over limitation. Any support — whether financial or by sharing this fundraiser — brings me one step closer to building a meaningful, stable future for my wife, daughter, and son. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for standing with my family during this next chapter.
Help Keep My Daughter in Basketball! Hi everyone, I’m reaching out for a little help to keep my daughter in her basketball program. She’s been working so hard this season, and it’s been such a positive outlet for her—building confidence, teamwork, and discipline. Unfortunately, I’ve hit a rough patch financially, and we need to come up with $230 by November 16th to cover her practice fees. I truly don’t like asking, but I believe in keeping her focused and active in something she loves. Every little bit helps—whether it’s $5, $10, or even a share of this post. It all makes a difference and keeps her dream alive on the court. Thank you so much for your kindness, support, and generosity. — A grateful mom
