Earlier today, I met a man named Harry, and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about his story.
Harry is a kind, genuine person who’s going through a really tough time. He has serious knee problems and relies on a mobile chair to get around, which makes everyday life, and especially travel, very difficult.
When I met him, I offered to get him some food. He asked if he could take a whole bag of cheeseburgers so he could bring them back and share with his friends, and he did exactly that. After that, I took him to the grocery store and helped him get what he needed, then drove him back.
During that time, he opened up to me about something much deeper.
Harry told me he hasn’t seen his daughter in over 30 years. The last time he saw her, she was just a child. Now she’s 40 years old. They’ve talked, but because of money and travel limitations, they haven’t been able to see each other in person.
He told me that seeing his daughter again would mean more to him than a million dollars.
Harry is also a veteran who served his country, and now he just wants the chance to reconnect with his family.
This fundraiser is to help bring his daughter to him for a week, covering a roundtrip flight and giving them the chance to finally be together again after decades apart.
Anything helps. Even the smallest donation gets him one step closer to seeing his daughter again.
Thank you for taking the time to read his story.
