<div>Her family has been displaced many times over the past two years and she has been separated from her husband due to the war and shares this burden along with her father, two remaining brothers and five children.

<div>A few months ago I was contacted by one of Ghadeer's brothers, Wael who asked for help with fundraising. Wael also set up his own Facebook group <a href="https://www.facebook.com/groups/813833310586744" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Free Palestine</a> to grow a community in support of and sharing news and insight to the genocide and injustice of the catastrophe that is Gaza today.

<div>Sadly, Wael was martyred along with his elder brother. When you have had direct contact then it does become personal.

<div>I am organizing this campaign to help my family to survive. My husband is not with me in this war because he was working away in the West Bank when the war started. The borders have been closed and he is unable to return or carry out any work due to the restrictions placed upon him.

<div>My struggling father, Ali Al-Afash, 56 years old, has two daughters and four sons, two of whom were martyred in a bombing that targeted them without any reason while they were searching for a living and sustenance. Two of them remain alive. In the light of these difficult circumstances, he adopts three families, all in one tent, and he is responsible for them and takes care of providing them with water and food when it is available in an attempt to stay alive.

<div>My dear martyred brother Fayez, 33 years old, loved life very much and loved his three children. He graduated from university but did not work with his degree, but he did not despair at this. He worked in various fields, the last job he was working in, was filling household gas cylinders and providing services to people. He was bombed directly while he was working and was martyred immediately. He left behind 3 young children, the oldest of whom is Ali, who is 6 years old, Mahmoud, who is 5 years old, and Karim, who was born in the war and is 9 months old. They all need care now.

<div>My dear martyred brother Wael, 28 years old and one year younger than me. He was like an angel, calm and very obedient to my parents. He graduated from university and dreamed of becoming a famous football coach because he loved football. He worked as a coach before the war, but our whole life stopped when the war began, he resorted to working with my brother Fayez in filling gas cylinders. They were martyred together and left behind great sadness in our hearts and in the hearts of my mother and father.

Help Ghadeer To Feed Her Family And Rebuild Her Life.

<div>My name is Alaa, from Gaza, Palestine. My life and my family’s life have been shaped by war, loss, and survival. Since 2008, we have lived through six wars, and while we survived, we lost our home, our security, and the chance to live a peaceful life that we have been aspiring to and working hard for.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>In every war, we carried fear as our daily companion. I still remember being 12 years old during the 2008 war, terrified every time we were told to evacuate, sharing our last food with neighbours, and watching my parents try to protect us even when they had nothing themselves. In 2012, I will never forget my father’s trembling body when he came home after witnessing a man torn to pieces before his eyes. I will never forget all of us sleeping on the ground in a small room that we thought was the safest one in our home.
</div>

<div>Despite the horror, I pushed myself to succeed in school, determined to give my family a better future. In 2014, during one of the deadliest wars, I became one of the top ten students in Palestine. I still remember my mother’s tears of joy that day that relieved a bit of my family's fears. Later, I was awarded the Chevening Scholarship to study in the UK, and I graduated with distinction from the University of East Anglia, carrying the dream of building a better life for my family and going back to support them and carry my knowledge to my work and community, where I worked in schooling visually impaired children and humanitarian action.
</div>

<div>But everything changed again in October 2023. I left Gaza for a short conference in Jordan, not knowing it would be the last time I saw my home. War broke out, and I was stranded outside, powerless while my family endured the unthinkable. They were displaced again and again, moving from one unsafe place to another while I was in Egypt, just trying to think of where they were and how to get them to safety. Then, one day, I received the news I had dreaded most, the house where they were sheltering was bombed. My sisters were trapped under rubble. Heba, my youngest sister, suffered a severe pelvic injury and struggled to walk and needed a wheelchair. Aya was struck in the head and still suffers from trauma and hair loss. My mother’s voice haunts me when she cried on the phone, “I am so sorry I couldn’t move the wall that fell on your little sisters.”

<div>Weeks later, my father’s small shop — his only source of income and the fruit of 30 years of hard work — was reduced to rubble. For the first time in my life, I heard him cry, saying, “My entire life’s effort was destroyed in 30 seconds.” That same night, I collapsed in Cairo from panic and had to be hospitalised.

</div>
<div>My family spent months displaced in hospitals, where there was no food, no space, and no medicine. My little brother and father slept on the streets in the freezing cold. With donations from friends and debts we still owe, we finally managed to evacuate them to Egypt in February 2024. When I saw them again, I couldn’t stop crying; it was a miracle to hug them alive.
</div>

<div>But the suffering did not end. We lost everything. My sisters need urgent treatment, my brother lost an entire school year, and we barely manage to pay rent. We live in constant fear about our future, without the right to work or build stability in Egypt.
</div>

<div>And then, tragedy struck us again. On 3rd May 2025, my beloved father passed away from a sudden stress-induced stroke. He carried the weight of all our suffering until his heart could no longer bear it. Losing him has broken us completely, emotionally and financially.

<div>Now, I am left with my grieving mother, my sisters, and my little brother, who is still in secondary education. I am raising this fund to help my family recover and have some dignity as we face an uncertain future.

I used to live a normal life with my family, consisting of two girls, the first is 6 years old and the second is 3 and a half years old, and my wife's name is Eman. I used to work as an accountant in a simple company. The war on Gaza came, our lives were turned upside down, our dreams and our future were destroyed, even our house was destroyed, and we are now displaced in the Deir al-Balah area. We have been living in tents for 9 months now, and the hot weather is torturing us and our children. I am supporting my father and mother, as my father was a doctor working in the hospital, but after the destruction of al-Shifa Hospital, he was displaced and is now with me in the tents. All I wish for and ask for is to help me and my family to continue living, and I will also help the displaced people in need. I hope and pray for your support and standing with me.

<div>Food and basic life support is heavily limited. Aid trucks will go in one day and be blocked for the next 10. Food and aid is sold, not handed out for free, and at extortionate prices. These prices go up by the minute as the aid supply runs out. Aid trucks are being blocked and sabotaged at the border. Displaced Gazans have no means of income or survival in their tents. I haven't found a shekel to feed my wife and daughters in 4 days. My elderly parents, who are reliant on me, haven't had access to their regular medications for over 6 months.

<div>Throughout the genocide, we have been reliant on external donations to organise initiatives for feeding and clothing not only my family, but all families within range in the camp. The donations also helped my brother, Yahya Lubbad and his children, who remain in North Gaza. His wife has recently given birth there. These donations have now stopped.

<div>I know there is rightly great emphasis on evacuating individuals and families to safety out of Gaza. However, this is not possible for the majority of us. An urgent priority is feeding displaced families in tents and meeting basic life necessities. We do not have any other means of survival at this point. The whole camp is in desperate condition. There is no food or water.
</div>
<div>Donations will be used to make meals on a large scale within our range and beyond, given as sums of cash to families in tents to buy necessities, and for psychosocial support initiatives for children if donations are enough.
