 If you know Chelsea, you know she is someone who works hard, loves her family &amp; friends fiercely, and is usually the person figuring out how to make things work.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 Weeks away from 47, Chelsea, a wife to Aaron, a mom to a brilliant 9-year-old, and half of a small landscaping business that she and Aaron, have built together. Their life is busy, physical, and grounded in work, family, and the everyday things that keep a household going.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 Then, quickly, everything changed.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 Chelsea was recently, and suddenly, diagnosed with stage III, high-grade serous ovarian cancer. There was no time to prepare for this diagnosis. Needing surgery to diagnose, Chelsea &amp; Aaron only had a couple of weeks notice before she was undergoing a biopsy operation that ended up as a full hysterectomy. When doctors operated, they found that her ovaries were significantly enlarged and full of tumors. They also found nodules on her peritoneum and cancer cells in the fluid in her abdomen.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 Her recovery has been complicated by an infection and, now, a second hospital stay - adding another layer to an already overwhelming experience.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 There is, thankfully, some very encouraging news: her doctors believe they were able to remove all of the visible cancer and tumors. That gives us hope. But we are also realistic that Chelsea's treatment is only beginning.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 She will need six rounds of chemotherapy, three weeks apart, taking her through the end of the year. After that will come the slower work of rebuilding her strength and recovering — physically, emotionally, and as a family.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 The timing has also created a very real financial challenge.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 Chelsea and Aaron both work in their landscaping business, and this started during their busiest season. Chelsea has had to step away from work completely. Aaron has been able to work only as much as he can, while also being there to care for Chelsea and their child and the household.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 So while they should be able to put their energy toward getting Chelsea well, they are also facing months of reduced income and additional expenses.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 We are fundraising to help give this family some breathing room over the next seven months. The funds will help with everyday living expenses and bills, childcare, medical and recovery-related costs, rehabilitation, and the income they will lose while Chelsea is unable to work and Aaron needs to be there for her.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 This isn't about making life easy. It's about giving Chelsea and her family one less thing to carry while she does the work of getting well.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 Asking for help is not something our family takes lightly. We know there is so much suffering in the world right now, and that everyone is carrying their own challenges. We also know that not everyone is in a position to give financially, and we completely understand that.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 But if you know Chelsea, if you've worked alongside her, if she's worked for you, if you've shared a laugh or a meal with her, or if her story resonates with you, we hope you'll consider standing with her and her family right now.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 Every amount helps. If you can't contribute, sharing this fundraiser is just as meaningful. A share may reach someone who knows Chelsea, knows Aaron, or simply wants to help a family through an unexpected and difficult season.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 If you know the family and want to talk about another way of contributing or helping, please don't be shy.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 Thank you for reading Chelsea's story, for sharing it, for contributing if you can, and for all the love and support you send their way.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 With love and gratitude,
</div>

</div>Hello
<br />I am Mahmoud Hamad from Gaza. My family and I live in a shelter because of the fierce war. I registered at the university to study, but my studies were interrupted due to the destruction of universities due to this war. Currently, I have arranged my affairs to travel to Egypt to complete my studies, and this requires a lot of money for travel and university fees for the Faculty of Dentistry, residency, and others. We are also in famine in Gaza. We are a large family and we cannot provide food because of the ongoing famine in Gaza. If anyone has the ability to help me, please donate. <br />Thank you so much.<br /><img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/82897441_1754160871960160_r.jpg" width="100%" media_type="3" alt="82897441_1754160871960160_r.jpg" /><br /><img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/82897441_1754160888911521_r.jpg" width="100%" media_type="3" alt="82897441_1754160888911521_r.jpg" /><img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/82897441_1754160902516403_r.jpg" width="100%" media_type="3" alt="82897441_1754160902516403_r.jpg" /><br />

Help Mahmoud Travel to Egypt for University

<div>Hi everyone, my name is Jennie Cane, a Canadian living in New Westminster (unceded Qayqayt territory) , and I am managing this campaign for my dear friend, Yousra Al-Khatib. We have developed a sisterly friendship over the past 6 months and speak by video or text almost every day. Yousra is one of the most hardworking and brilliant young women I’ve ever met. Despite the unimaginable hardships she is facing in Gaza, she has never lost sight of her dream to become a dentist. She studied under the harshest conditions, studying in a tent on paper while enduring bombs, and earned a 94.4% GPA. Her resilience in these circumstances is admirable.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I am hosting this fundraiser because Yousra is at a crossroads and lacks the financial means to continue her studies in Gaza. Below is Yousra’s story in her own words.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>My name is Yousra Al-Khatib, I am 19 years old, and I am a first-year Dentistry student at the University of Palestine. Over the past two and a half years, my family and I have faced war, displacement, and a cost of living that is nearly impossible. We have lost loved ones and struggled with fear and uncertainty, yet I refused to let my education slip away. I studied under hard conditions and I want to continue my studies to become a dentist—to heal, to restore smiles, and to give back to a community that has suffered so much.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The Reality Now:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I have secured my seat at the University of Palestine, but I cannot pay my tuition. My family has no steady income, and the cost of books, medical tools, and daily transportation makes it impossible to continue without help. For one academic year, I need approximately $12,000 CAD to cover tuition, school books, training equipment and living expenses. Without this support, I may have to pause my studies, a heartbreaking outcome and one that will delay my progress in life.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>My Promise:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I am not asking for a handout, I am asking for an investment in a future dentist. Every contribution, no matter the size, is a little bridge that allows me to stay in school. And here is my promise: when I graduate, I will pay it forward, treating those who cannot afford care and serving my community as the dentist it needs. Your support is the lifeline to this dream. If you cannot donate, please help by sharing this campaign with others. Every share increases my chance to stay in school. Thank you for your care and consideration.
</div>

Help Future Dentist Yousra Serve Her Community

<div>Hi Everyone,
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We have set up this fundraiser to support our close friend Hayf Abichahine cover his bills and be able to rebuild himself after an abrupt and problematic termination from his job as the director of Diversity, Equity and Justice at Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH). Hayf lost his job due to politically-motivated and seemingly racist complaints from a group of employees at VCH.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The complaints against Hayf were related to posts made on Hayf’s personal social media accounts advocating for peace in Palestine and sharing pro-Palestinian sentiments. The complaints filed against Hayf labeled these posts (and Hayf) as antisemitic and having caused fear and harm to Jewish staff at VCH. These accusations were devastating to Hayf, who has a long history of unwavering personal, professional, and public commitment to standing up against antisemitism and all forms of discrimination. As Jews, we are well aware of the dangers in conflating pro-Palestinian sentiments with anti-semintism and we can clearly identify that these complaints were leveled as part of a campaign from pro-Israeli voices to silence pro-Palestinian sentiment and support. Hayf was, in the end, let go without due process or any kind of review of the offending posts or of the complainants motivations.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Hayf’s termination and public silencing has meant that Hayf has now lost his career, his financial security, and it has deeply shaken his foundation and sense of purpose. It is also a stark reminder that pro-Palestinian voices that speak out against genocide will be silenced in our public institutions in favour of a status quo that supports a larger colonial agenda.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Hayf is a parent to two young children and despite working tirelessly to build up his photography and apparel business, he is still struggling to catch up. Hayf is someone who has always been there for others, we have both seen and experienced how Hayf can be a support to so many members of his community - and now it’s our turn to lend a hand. Please consider donating to help Hayf through this transition period and support him and his family to be able to remain in their Vancouver community. Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a difference and bring him one step closer to stability and peace of mind. If more money is raised than needed, Hayf will donate the remaining funds to the Middle East Children’s Alliance (MECA)
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Cora &amp; Dan
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The detailed story is below:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Background:
</div>
<div>Hayf Abichahine is a Palestinian-Lebanese-Canadian who lives with his two children on the unceded, traditional lands of the Musqueam, Tsleil-Watuth, and Squamish Nations (Vancouver, BC). After being hired and announced as the Director of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion at Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) in February 2024, a group of physicians working for or associated with VCH began a coordinated campaign to have him fired. They submitted six letters referencing social media posts related to Palestine that Hayf shared online before working at VCH in November 2023. The complaints did not identify any actual instances of antisemitism and appeared to be motivated by anti-Palestinian and anti-Arab racism.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>When VCH brought the complaint to his attention on March 4th, he was led to believe that: (1) VCH was working with him to resolve the complaints, (2) that the organization fully stood behind him, and (3) that it did not agree with the allegations that he was antisemitic. Hayf was given no indication that VCH was working on a course to terminate his employment. VCH leadership repeatedly reassured him that the organization supported him and believed he was the right person for the role.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Hayf then participated in a thorough, sincere, and painstaking process with VCH leadership to co-develop a written response to the complaints.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>As painful as it was for Hayf, he also agreed to remove all Palestine-related content on his social media. At that time, he explained in a detailed email to VCH leadership that this decision was spiritually and emotionally painful. He explained that by agreeing to this request, he was participating in silencing their own voice in the context of a humanitarian crisis affecting his own family and people. At the same time, he acknowledged a concern that this manufactured controversy would distract from his EDI work at VCH. Hayf reaffirmed his commitment to combating antisemitism; He also reiterated that taking complaints of antisemitism seriously does not justify refusing to recognize the racism that imbued these particular complaints. He highlighted the need to ensure that Palestinians working at VCH also felt safe and included. Hayf shared that he was committed to finding a way forward so that he could continue to do the important EDI work he believed in at VCH and was reassured that VCH shared this commitment.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>What followed was an agonizing two-weeks working directly with VCH leadership while also trying to come to terms with how his calls for human rights, peace, and an end to bloodshed could be misconstrued as antisemitic and hateful.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Despite his wholehearted cooperation and assurances from VCH, Hayf was terminated on March 15, 2024.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>In the termination letter, VCH said that it had lost confidence in Hayf’s ability to neutrally and safely provide a sense of belonging for everyone through the Office of EDI, and that therefore he could not fulfill the essential elements of his role. These conclusions were wrong and unfounded. They are based on harmful stereotypes of Arabs as angry, violent, and dangerous.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>VCH did not take any actions that would clear Hayf of the accusations of antisemitism. On the contrary, Hayf’s sudden departure, shrouded in secrecy, lent credence to the allegations against him and tarnished his reputation. Allegations of racism are particularly harmful to the professional reputation of a person working in the field of EDI. EDI is a small field. Being hired as Regional Director of EDI for VCH was widely noted in the professional EDI community. Hayf’s sudden departure, similarly, has attracted attention. This very short service with VCH will hinder their ability to find another job in their field as it will raise questions with prospective employers.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Hayf has a young family based in Vancouver and is not able to move to find a comparable role. Staying in his community is particularly important to him and his family.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Hayf is still coming to terms with the magnitude of the personal, emotional, and professional toll that this has had on his life and on his family. He has suffered extreme mental distress in addition to economic loss due to his termination and the way in which it was done.
</div>
<div>The goal of this Go Fund Me is to allow Hayf to be able to support his children while he works to rebuild his career and heal from such a deeply hurtful and personal attack. Please note: no legal support or advice is needed at this time - Hayf and VCH have completed a legal process.
</div>
<div><br />

Help Hayf rebuild after a wrongful termination

<div>On Monday October 7, an enormous fire destroyed three houses in the Strathcona neighbourhood in Vancouver, BC. Our friends Ryan Clough-Carroll, Soloman Chiniquay, Hamish Hardie, and Brit Bachmann lost their home and all of their possessions in this fire. There was a sudden explosion next door that left them with no time to collect anything besides their cat, before evacuating their home. All their clothing, valuables, heirlooms and sentimental items have been lost. This included losing their computers, laptops and harddrives where they stored their work, along with the valuable equipment that they depend on to make a living in the arts.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Sol is a filmmaker, artist and photographer who lost his filmmaking equipment, collection of cameras, and archive of work including film negatives, photo prints, motion picture film and hard drives.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Brit is an arts worker, ceramicist and artist who lost her ceramics, supplies, portfolio of artworks, as well her latest collection of pottery which she had prepared to sell at the upcoming Eastside Culture Crawl.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Ryan is an arts worker, musician, filmmaker and artist, who lost his portfolio of paintings, works in progress, painting supplies, instruments, writing and recordings.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Hamish is an arts worker and writer who has lost his collected works, and reference material for his writing project. This archive contained years of writing, ideas, and personal reflections that cannot be replaced.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Though they have attempted to get tenants insurance in the past, due to the number of tenants in their suite, they were unable to qualify for insurance. We are hoping to raise as much as possible to ensure all four can get through this difficult time to find new housing, and begin to replace the insurmountable loss. No donation is too little and we hope you can share this campaign as much as possible.

Help Our Friends Recover from a Devastating House Fire

<div>The reason I am finally motivated enough to fulfill my dream of cycling the from the West Coast through the Rockies (appx 1100 kms with appx 10, 000meters of climbing, in 7-8 days) is because I am honoured to be raising money to benefit the Indian Residential School Survivors Society. Any donation will help make an impact. Thanks in advance for your contribution. I leave beautiful k'emk'emelay (vancouver), coast salish territories on saturday June 8th and hope to arrive the following saturday in calgary (mohkintsis), Treaty 7 territory.
</div>
<div>My sweet partner Lisa will be providing online progress updates frequently as I may be indisposed...
</div>
<div>More information about Indian Residential School Survivors Society: IRSSS has been serving First Nations people in B.C. since 1994, just ten years after the last Indian Residential School closed in the province. Recently, IRSSS has supported students and survivors with triggering issues, including the uncovering of unmarked graves at Indian Residential Schools across the province and nation, and most recently, assisting with the applications for the Federal Indian Day School Class Action, while providing emotional and spiritual support as needed.

<div>Welcome

</div>

<div>My name is Soha Abu Warda (Abu Marzouq).

</div>

<div>I am of Palestinian origin. I hold Canadian citizenship. I live in Canada (Ontario). I am here helping my family get out of Gaza to reach a safe place. They number 10 people. The situation is as follows:

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>After the bombing of our house located in the central area (<strong>the city of Al-Zahra</strong>), it was a large house and included all my sisters and brothers, their wives, and the grandchildren of my father and mother.

</div>

<div>When the house was bombed, there were 50 displaced people inside it, in addition to my family. The house was destroyed, two of the displaced people were martyred, <strong>and my sister was seriously injured as a result of her being removed after two hours from among the stones of the house.</strong>

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>But we don't just <strong>want to survive, we want to rebuild. </strong>We dream of regaining our home, our lives and the future of our children. It's not just about providing emergency aid; it's about giving families in Gaza a chance to start over.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>We urgently need support for food, medicine, and immediate survival needs, but also for rebuilding our home and community. Every donation, no matter how small, is a step toward hope.

</div>

<div>Please stand with us. Stand with Gaza. Help us rebuild.

<div>On December 23rd one of the front windows at the fifty fifty arts collective's gallery space was broken. The good news is that nothing else was stolen or vandalized. The bad news is that replacing a large window isn't cheap!
</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>The window has temporarily been boarded up and it will remain this way until we raise funds to replace the glass. While we love the DIY aesthetic, our windows are often significant in artists' exhibition plans and allow the public to check out the art even when we're not open. Replacing this window is an important way to support artists with shows planned in the next several months.
</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>the fifty fifty arts collective, located in unceded and occupied Lekwungen Territories (Victoria, BC), is a not-for-profit, volunteer-run, multi-disciplinary programming space supporting emerging and established artists. Over the last twenty years, we have worked with hundreds of visual and musical artists in and beyond our gallery space. During this time the fifty fifty has become an integral part of the arts scene in so-called Victoria.
</div>
<div>

<div>Please donate what you can to help us replace our window and thank you for your support!

<p>Hi, my name is Cheryl. I am one of the many people that had lost their house to the Lytton B.C fire that had taken and burnt our hometown to the ground. we've lost everything including my husbands ashes and would absolutely appreciate any help. only thing we have is our vehicle and a couple sets of clothes. This go fund me would help for the longer terms of things as the future is uncertain at this time and how long the process is to rebuild and to get back on our feet independently. again, we appreciate any help that would come of this and are grateful and thank you from the bottom of mine and my families hearts. we will continue to remain Lytton strong homulth.

Help me and my family have a house to live in.

Ballroom culture (as we know it) started in the 1960s through pageantry and performance, that's really glamourous, fun, really engaging and really affirming. A space where we go to do stuff, and be who we aren't allowed to be, anywhere else. So we're taking that element, and bringing into our community which is: LGBT, Black &amp; Brown youth and allies. <br /><br />Ballroom is usually held in club spaces &amp; 19+ spaces, so we had to amend some aspects of ballroom and create a safer way of delivering ballroom (programs) to youth and children in safer spaces like community centres &amp; schools.<br /><br />I really love the house &amp; family values that ballroom presents. I think that I, who fortunately comes from a family of support (causes me to forget) that there are so many people who don't have that, and the TKBA provides that at no cost.<br /><br />Each house has two leaders, usually a Mother &amp; Father, and their job is to be a parental figure to the members of their houses; help with jobs, schools, and relationships, filling in the gaps in the lives of their house members. The majority of us, as Black Queer &amp; Trans POC, do not have that privilege to speak to our parents about the things that we actually go through.<br /><br />Music break - Showing clips from TKBA protest at Club120's closing<br /><br />The fact that there's still a need for the same things that I was parenting for, and hoping that today we wouldn't have to deal with.. Wouldn't have expected, ten years ago, that ten years later, we would still have to be finding resources like this for our community. Now we have COVID on top of everything else we have to deal with and it's just heartbreaking. <br /><br />You know there's mental struggles, there's drugs struggles, we have real-life issues! There's homelessness, there's food insecurity! Some of these kids who you would think are thriving because of how they present, are still dealing with that ground issue of parenting, and not being able to be out &amp; free at-home. They're still dealing with that.<br /><br />I think over the ten years, what I've learned is that everyone is a star. What is lacking is nourishment and useful resources to make those dreams a reality. What brings me the most joy is watching the new kids walk into their light, and really become successful in getting jobs and work in fields that they really didn't think was possible.<br /><br />With COVID being a tough time, and it probably wont' get easier any time soon.. It's important that we support each other to help take care of our mental health, take care of our physical health, and health right across the board.<br /><br />Right now, we are doing fundraising for our Winter Series of virtual programming. We did one in the summer, and these programs were facilitated by people in our community for our community once again. So, we had a lot of people who haven't even taught or facilitated anything, do so for their first time and give it a shot, and engage our community safely. We will have more youth facilitate more programming within our community, give kiki houses support to look out for each other. <br /><br />If you're looking for a way to show support to the Black, Trans, Queer, Young, Artist community, a community of people living on the margins, a community of people who are overlooked and in need, then look no further because the TKBA is on the front lines as a grassroots organization, definitely in the community and doing the work. *Updated 11/18/20*<br /><br />Dear Friends and Family,<br /><br />As many of you already know, Zach has cancer and will be going through surgery, radiation, and possibly chemo in the next few months. Our baby girl is also due January 4th so this is a challenging time. Many of you have already reached out to offer help and support which has been immensely uplifting. Now that we have a confirmed cancer diagnosis and a treatment plan we have come up with some specific ways you can help.<br /><br /><strong>GO-FUNDME, aka Money Stuff</strong>:<br /><br /><strong>Apartment rental</strong>. Our dear friends have offered to come stay to help with the newborn and Zach's care. Our landlords would NOT let us rent the apartment next door so we contacted a neighbor from Air BnB and booked their space. Thank you for helping us provide the funds for this much need support for January and February. <br /><br /><strong>Doula</strong>. We have asked a friend to be our doula, and are moving forward with birth support! <br /><br /><strong>Medical bills</strong>. We have insurance so are hoping this doesn't end up being exorbitant, but have already had several recommendations for non-insurance covered tests and have gone through one surgery and several days in the hospital, so it's stacking up quick.<br /><br /><br /><strong>Non-Money Stuff</strong>:<br /><br /><strong>Apartment outfitting and furniture lending</strong>. WE WILL NO LONGER NEED FURNITURE because we were not able to rent the apartment next door! Thank you so much for everybody who offered to help out. While the Air BnB is a bit more expensive, it does save us the hassle of outfitting an apartment. <br /><br /><strong>Meal Train</strong>.  *We've added a few more dates for November and December because Zach will be having another surgery and we will be bedridden most of the time.  You can sign up to bring a meal <a href="https://mealtrain.com/l1277r" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">HERE</a> .<br /><br /><strong>Laundry</strong>. Thank you, again, to everybody who signed up to help us with laundry! We were generously gifted a laundry service so we will not be needing our friends to schlepp around our laundry! <br /><br /><strong>Emotional support</strong>. It's been truly wonderful having so many people reach out, and it really really helps. Because we've had a lot of folks in touch, we haven't always been timely about responding to everyone, but please continue reaching out when you can.<br /><br />We will be doing our best to update Facebook and Instagram with current health statuses, but please feel free to reach out if you haven't heard from us. Thank you again for all your love and support.<br /><br />Much Love,<br /><br />Zach, Traci, and Baby Miller

Roughly 400 people are currently residing at Camp KT tent city in Strathcona Park without a place to shower. We are in need of effective washroom facilities as soon as possible.<br />We are seeking to raise funds for a Shower Trailer that will help folks stay clean and healthy, while keeping warm as we go into colder months. <br /><br />Our hope is to acquire a trailer with 2 to 4 private showers, which will range in cost between $20,000 to $35,000.<br /><br />Funds raised will also be used to hire a peer worker to attend these facilities. <br /><br />Please help us reach our goal and help Camp KT residents to maintain their personal hygiene.

<strong>Hello friends and family,</strong><br /><br />On June 6th I fell and broke my wrist.  My left wrist.  As most of you know, I am both an artist and a server, who happens to be left-handed.  I'm sure you can imagine how this has affected my daily life and ability to work.  <br /><br />Because of the location and severity of the fracture, surgery was necessary to fully restore the function of my wrist and hand.  Surgery is over now and recovery is going well.  I have a powerful new titanium plate in my wrist currently forcing my bones to fuse together!  However, it will still be several weeks before I can carry any weight.  The dexterity and flexibility of my hand and wrist may take close to a year to recover. I'm hopeful and I know I'll be back to normal soon enough.<br /><br /><br /><img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/40170698_1561404508824156_r.jpeg" alt="40170698_1561404508824156_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" /><span style="font-size:1.0625rem;"> </span><br /><br />Breaking your wrist hurts, and surgery is a bummer.  But the most frustrating part of this experience is that it happened while I'm without insurance.  We're applying for - and hope to receive -  financial assistance, but it won't be nearly enough to cover the costs of the ER visit, surgery and various check-up appointments, X-rays, etc.<br /><br />We're asking for any help you can offer, no matter how small, as any amount will be of great use in paying off my medical debt. <br /><br />For everyone who donates, you'll receive a thank-you card featuring a drawing from my current illustration series, Drawing While Right-Handed: I'm All Right.<br /><br />For anyone who donates 50.00 or more, you'll receive a signed limited-edition collection of 5 prints, featuring more right-handed drawings.<br /><br />Again, any help is appreciated.  I'm grateful to always feel so much love from my community and especially so right now.<br /><br /><span style="font-size:1.0625rem;"><img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/40170698_1561485997728051_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" alt="40170698_1561485997728051_r.jpeg" /><br />I love you all very much,</span><br /><br />Brittany

BRITTANY KUSA'S BROKEN WRIST

Someone can’t prepare fully for the loss of a loved one. But sometimes, actions of those we love can encourage us to prepare for the worst.<br /><br />Five years ago Jeff moved to Victoria where he had a horrible accident. His move to Victoria provided a chance for us to become closer, but it was also a difficult transition to watch his additions grow as the impacts of the accident continued.<br /><br /> Over the years, I began to prepare for the worst. I was lucky enough to find a counselor who specialized in grief counselling years ago. For seven years, he has been helping me to build myself stronger and to learn skills to deal with what I feared was inevitable.<br /><br /> On March 28th, 2018, we lost Jeff. The skills I have been able to develop with my counselor’s help have gotten me to this point, and prepared me for what I feared would happen. But, unfortunately, grief and loss is a long process.<br /><br /> I set this fund up to ask those willing and able to help me process. At 20, I am beginning to move towards independence, but finances are a major barrier. My hope is that I will be able to access additional counselling with the help of those able to donate even $5 or $10.<br /><br /> Thank you for your support and understanding during this period of loss, but also of celebrating someone who we all cared about deeply.

<p>On Saturday morning, May 13th, VIVO Media Arts Centre was robbed. Thieves broke through the front door and raided the main office and digitization hub of office computers, storage hardware and other equipment. After years of hard work and investment from staff, members, volunteers, and our funders and donors to make the Kaslo space our home and a centre for community activity, we’re disheartened by the material and immaterial costs and the work ahead of us to restore what was lost. Staff and volunteers are working hard to reestablish all data and systems, and to make our space more safe and secure in the future. Some of our operations are limited as a result, and we ask for your patience as we get things back to normal.<br /><br />URGENT NEXT STEPS<br /><br />Every item stolen is critical to our day-to-day operations and must be replaced. We have insurance, but it will not fully cover all our losses.<br /><br />Since the theives managed to break in despite our perimeter security fence and alarm system, we are immediately upgrading our security measures with the money raised through this campaign. This will include a metal security barrier across the front entrance (exact model not known - we are currently researching our options).  <br /><br />HOW YOU CAN HELP<br /><br />For most non-profits,  losses like these are devastating. It certainly is for us. We need funds urgently to get back to full capacity and to secure the valuable resource that you have all helped build over the years. <br /><br />Please consider supporting VIVO's emergency appeal!<br /><br /> All donations are eligible for charitable tax receipts.<br /><br /><br /><br /><a href="http://www.vivomediaarts.com" target="_blank">VIVO Media Arts Centre</a> is a non-profit artist run centre, supporting a wide range of activity from media arts production, distribution, educational workshops, and public programs. We are also home to The Crista Dahl Media Library and Archive, Western Canada’s largest repository of video art. Our purpose is to make media arts, which can be cost-prohibitive and technically arcane, accessible, affordable, and a means for developing challenging and critical conversations rooted in our local communities. <br /><br /><strong>WHAT WE LOST<br />Please keep an eye out for these items.</strong></p>

VIVO MEDIA ARTS Theft Recovery

<p>We started this GoFundMe page to finance a lawsuit against the BC Government and the BCLiberal Party with respect to government advertising which was unnecessary and served to advance the interests of the BCLiberal Party during the 2017 election campaign. <br /><br />The lawsuit is now over and we are in the process of determining the costs. The money we raised will be used to cover our our expenses and costs. In the event that there is money remaining, the committee responsible for launching the lawsuit will determine how best we can advance this important political issue using the remaining money. <br /><br />We did not pay ourselves for the work we did in this case. We expect that the amount we have collected will cover a portion of the actual costs to advance the lawsuit. We personally contributed our time and also our money to this cause because it's important. </p>

Hello friends, this is a page to help raise a bit of money for our dear friend chad. This money will go to Chad to help him cover his rent and other costs.  Thank youfor the help and your time'<br /><br />. As some of you know, Chad was diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia some years ago. Though he has been in remission for many years, his cancer became dangerous again a few months ago. Chad recently started a new course of treatment, however the new medicine in combination with his CLL has left him extremely low-energy. We are raising money to help offset the cost of Chad's rent and other costs, so he can focus on healing and being well.'
