I asked God what He wanted me to do, and this is where He lead me. On June 1st, 2026, I will begin a 2190+ mile adventure, spaning 14 states, across the spine of the entire Appalachian Mountain range, from Maine to Georgia, to inspire people to follow their dreams, and to raise $50,000 for Recovery Renaissance, a start-up non-profit in East Tennessee that is currently offering programs, housing, guidance, and support for former addicts who have made the decision to change their lives, help others, and put in the work to repair the damage they've caused themselves, their families, and their communities while in active addiction. But what I'm doing isn't just a hike. Every step, every mile, every day - will represent the struggles faced by addicts who are putting in the work to turn their lives around, even when the outcomes are unseen and uncertain, and to also inspire hope for the people who love them. I'm sure you know, we are in the midst of a drug epidemic. Families and businesses in communities everywhere have felt its horrifying and tragic effects. In our region, especially, you don't have to look very far to see that addiction is a destructive force that knows no bounds. And the disease of addiction is such a cunning, baffling, and powerful enemy of life, leaving doctors, lawyers, social workers, law enforcement, judges, mental health professionals, and religious leaders, grasping at straws to find a solution. However it only appears to be a losing battle. There are a lot of different ways to fight back! By the grace of God, and the help of a supportive community, who believed in me and healed me with a love more fierce than death, I escaped death, and the hell of my active addiction. And I now believe it is my responsibility to use my experience to fight back. By supporting this hike, your money will help Recovery Renaisance, at the ground level, effectively change lives, restore families and heal communities. I'm putting my money where my mouth is, and everything I have into demonstrating what is possible when someone believes in you.
