<div><br />
</div>
<div>Flooding is one of the most devastating natural disasters in the US, causing billions of dollars in damage each year and displacing thousands of families. Too often we see people create fundraisers on the GoFundMe platform asking for help in the wake of destructive floods.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>GoFundMe.org has launched this fund to provide direct and immediate support to those impacted by floods this year. Tax deductible donations will go to individuals and families impacted, and to the nonprofit organizations who are responding on the ground. Every dollar will go directly to the communities in need. Your support will help flood survivors begin to rebuild—stronger and together.

</div>
<div><br />

</div>
<div>March 20, 2026 - The Hawaiʻi islands faced the worst flooding they had seen in 20 years following the Kona Low Storms. Families were n displaced, homes damaged, and access to basic necessities disrupted across impacted communities. Heavy rains overwhelmed infrastructure, leaving many residents without safe shelter, reliable transportation, or essential supplies. We raised over $1M and delivered about 1,000 grants directly to verified folks impacted. Read more about our impact in the updates below.

<div>Help the Nishiki Maui Farmers Market Recover After Devastating Kona Low Storm
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Aloha friends, family, and community,
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>My name is Kai Nishiki, and I’m reaching out on behalf of our family business, Maui Farmers Market, founded nearly 50 years ago by my dad, Wayne Nishiki.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>My dad started this business with a simple but powerful idea: support local farmers and bring fresh, healthy food directly to our community. What began as small roadside stands in South and West Maui grew into a place that so many residents and visitors have come to know and love.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Today, my dad is 82 years old. My sister, Sachi, has taken over the business and also cares for him full-time. Maui Farmers Market is not just a business—it is her only source of income and what allows her to care for our dad while continuing his legacy.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Sachi has the biggest heart and is always helping others—whether it’s offering a free meal, opening her home to someone in need, providing a job, or supporting just about every community cause that comes her way.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Most of you know my dad as a fierce advocate for our local community and the environment, with a big personality—quick with a loud laugh, a great big hug, and always ready with a free sample of perfectly ripe local papaya or fresh banana bread.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Over the past few years, we’ve already faced major challenges. After the 2023 West Maui wildfires, we lost our beloved Honokōwai location and lease. Our North Kīhei location—where Suda Store once stood, now home to ABC Store and Ululani’s—became the last remaining piece of our family’s livelihood.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Now, we’ve been hit again.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The recent Kona Low storm brought severe flooding to Maui, and our Kīhei location was directly impacted. Floodwaters and mud inundated the property, and fallen trees caused significant damage. What we’re left with is overwhelming—days, and likely weeks, of cleanup, repairs, and uncertainty.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>On top of that, with South Kīhei Road closures and limited access, we don’t know when customers will be able to return in the numbers needed to sustain the business.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This moment is critical for our family.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We are asking for your support to help us:
</div>
<div>	•	Clean up and repair storm damage
</div>
<div>	•	Replace lost inventory and equipment
</div>
<div>	•	Cover immediate expenses while the business is unable to operate normally
</div>
<div>	•	Keep this nearly 50-year legacy alive
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Maui Farmers Market has always been about community—supporting local farmers, feeding families, and creating a place where people connect.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>If you’ve ever stopped by our stand or storefront, picked up fresh local food, or shared a laugh with our dad and our family, we humbly ask for your help now.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Every donation, no matter the size, will make a difference. And if you’re not able to give, sharing this campaign means just as much to us.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>From our family to yours, mahalo for your support, your kindness, and for helping us continue to serve Maui.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>With deep gratitude,
</div>
<div>The Nishiki ʻohana

Help The Nishiki Family - Maui Farmers Market Hit By Storm

<div>On March 20, the Kona Low storm swept through and left devastation in its wake, severely impacting Nicci Lee Mowat’s beloved farm and homes. The storm’s force uprooted gardens, damaged property, and left behind a daunting path to recovery. Nicci has poured her heart into creating a space filled with beauty and life, and seeing it so deeply affected has been heartbreaking for everyone who knows her.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div> The funds raised here will go directly toward helping Nicci clean up, mitigate further damage, and restore what was lost. This includes purchasing essential supplies, bringing in services to support the property against future flooding, and reviving the gardens and flora that make her home so special. Every contribution will help Nicci rebuild not just her property, but the vibrant environment she’s cultivated for her community.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Nicci is the type of person who always shows up for others, offering her support and kindness whenever it’s needed. Now, it’s our turn to rally around her. If you’ve ever been touched by Nicci’s generosity or inspired by her spirit, please consider donating or sharing this fundraiser. Together, we can help her recover and continue to bring light and beauty into all of our lives.

Help Nicci Restore Her Farm After Kona Low Storm

Uuuugh.  So bothered!   Welp…. Guess whos back… back again.   And I'm going to need help - mental, emotional, and financial. GoFundMe is a site I never wanted to need..... But I do now!!! And I have no choice but to swallow my pride and ask. good news... We are OK!! well, we gonna be!!!! Bad news? It's BRAIN SURGERY! AGAIN!!!! After 1.5 years stable, and successful GAMMA KNIFE RADIATION session earlier in Feb, (my hulk powers started to come thru) my tumor friend ( aka the Grinch) is intruding its way back in and we gotta catch him!! We have to go back to UCSF to have it done.  They have the better toys for getting in the nooks and crannies. The actual surgery is around 6 hours long. Post op will be a few days in the ICU and then hopefully we can hang out in Apple Valley for a few weeks before I start a weird long road of chemo and rads again in HI. Thankfully I have insurance! but there is no telling what is gonna happen since it's out of state. And I'll be out of work for a few months. This is where the ask comes in. And truthfully, this is really hard for me, which is why I know I need to do it. Every time I've given to a GoFundMe cause, It makes me smile to be able to help someone in need. I've heard it said that you can rob people of the opportunity of being a blessing if you refuse to ask for help. So I'm swallowing my pride and looking to my community of friends and family to help me in this journey because they know I would do the exact same thing for them. Your giving will go to all of the medical bills that will not be covered by insurance, travel expenses (flight and lodging) and will help provide for basic needs while in recovery. Any additional funds will be secured for future medical costs (and lashes, candy crush men, and Pokeballs. ;) ) I also ask for your prayers. I realize that my community includes people of faith in Jesus, spiritual people, agnostics, atheists, etc. I happen to believe in the healing power of The Backstreet Boys whether it is through "I Want it That Way" or through the hands of the surgeon. If you are one who prays, I would so appreciate you joining us in prayer throughout this process. If you are not a person who prays, I ask that you join me in “Telling me why…”  for
 - Successful Surgery (June 4th 2024)
- ZERO Complications postop - Abnormally successful recovery
- Sanity (not being able to work is going to prove difficult for me. FOMO)
- Peace of mind for my mom and my husband and my sister and my auntie Gloria and the rest of my family and my friends and my coworkers and YOU!!! Cuz I know they are all worried about it.
<br /><br /><span style="color:rgb(51,51,51);">  I love you and we got this! XOXO~ Tiff!</span>

So uuugghhhmmmmmm…. BRAIN TUMOR IS BACK AGAIN!!!!

<div>Aloha, please help this family-owned small business in Kailua, Puna Noni Naturals. A devastating fire consumed their warehouse and business last Friday, March 17. Truly one of the nicest families around. Mahalo (thank you) for your consideration and support!

Our father started the business 23 years ago when he was stationed at the Honolulu Fire Department on the North Shore of Oahu. Aloha and Namaste Everyone,<br /><br />As you may have seen in the news the Big Island of Hawaii is experiencing a state of emergency due to the erupting  Volcano Kilauea. The eruption has sent huge plumes of ash and smoke into the air and could only be the beginning of a string of more violent eruptions. The lava has burst from the ground at 21 fissures sites as of today. <br /><br /><a href="http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5741037/Kilauea-eruption-left-poison-cloud-acid-rain-destroying-thousands-dollars-crops.html" target="_blank" class="" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5741037/Kilauea-eruption-left-poison-cloud-acid-rain-destroying-thousands-dollars-crops.html</a><br /><br /><a href="https://www.cnn.com/2018/05/17/us/hawaii-kilauea-volcano/index.html" target="_blank" class="" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">https://www.cnn.com/2018/05/17/us/hawaii-kilauea-volcano/index.html</a><br /><br />For those of you that don't know, my dear sister Saradha Johnson has been living and working with her husband Braja Johnson and their four year old son (my sweet nephew) Sudama on his family farm in Pahoa for the last 5 1/2 years.  My sister is also 7 months pregnant and they are expecting their newest addition at the end of July.  <br /><br />Braja's family has been farming  the land  in Pahoa since the early 80's, growing  some of the most beautiful, organic produce that you've ever seen, taking the veggies to the local farmers market supporting the community and others with the fruits of their labor. <br /><br /> Leilani Estates (where all the lava fissures are) is 15 minutes from the farm and there is the potential for the lava to come over the ridge and head thru the farmland and to block off all access in and out. This has forced my sister and her husband's family to evacuate from their beautiful 20 acre farm, as all the crops have begun to die, turning yellow, due to the sulfur dioxide gases in the air. And now their fruit and avocado trees which were planted by hand 35 years ago are starting to die as well. With the family now considering what to do next, having lost their livelihood, my sister and brother-in-law have a now relocated to the island of Oahu to temporarily stay with my parents. <br /><br /> Our family is coming together to help them out in every way they can. My sister is too sweet and humble of a soul to ask for anything and whether she voices it or not is concerned about how to bring her growing family of 4 into our parents home and prepare for the birth of the new baby.  Sadly there is no schedule for lava or how long it will keep flowing and how long the gases are making the farm inhabitable.  The stress of all this is also something to be concerned of as she moves into the final stages of her pregnancy. <br /><br />I am reaching out to all of you in hopes that we can help them to get back on their feet. My hope is that the beautiful community of souls that know her, know me and perhaps know what it's like to be in need will help me in providing a bit of support to get them on their feet and prepare for a new addition to their family, and one more sweet soul on this planet. <br /><br />They are in the process of looking for a place to rent, my brother-in-law is looking for a new job, and they are dealing with the cost of relocating to another island (Hawaii is a very expensive place to live). On top of this they have lost most of their belongings due to contamination with volcanic gases which means they are essentially starting from scratch. <br /><br />The amount I'm asking for will cover:<br />*deposit +first months rent<br />*utilities<br />*groceries<br />*simple refurnishings i.e. Bed, crib, etc<br />*essentials like diapers and supplies<br />*medical costs in finding a new midwife as they had already paid the center they were going to use in Pahoa. <br /><br />I'm hoping to be able to support my sister in these last 2 months of her pregnancy to allow her to be as healthy and stress free as possible and with your help I know I can.  Thank you in advance for any amount you can spare. A little goes a long way and I hope to be able to provide them all with some semblance of peace as they adjust to a new life during this chaotic time. <br /><br />I am beyond grateful to you for even taking the time to read this far. Thank you for your love and support. <br /><br />Lots of love and Mahalo, <br />Devavani

<p>UPDATE: MARTY LUIPPOLD'S KILLER GOES FREE<br /><iframe media_type="0" media_id="P2dtpDFgits" class="youtube-replace" title="YouTube video player" style="margin-bottom:20px;width:560px;height:315px;" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/P2dtpDFgits/?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="1"></iframe><br />From Terry Titcomb: Last month, my brother's killer was set free by a whimsically liberal  justice system in Hawaii that says you can beat someone to death, leave him bleeding on the ground, go back into the bar, and brag to your drinking buddies about what a macho man you are,  while my brother's life blood was seeping into the cold asphalt outside. <br /><br />And now you get to stay with your family, watch your son grow up. I wonder what you will buy him for Christmas. The Christmas present that I wanted to give my brother will sit in my closet, never to be opened. I will not get to be with my brother for the holidays, or ever again. Merry Christmas, MURDERER.<br /><br />Kai Winchester, your attorney says it was all just a "terrible accident." If that is true, where is your sorrow? Where is your apology? Why have you not contacted my family, or sought forgiveness from my mother? Why do we not see your donation here?<br /><br />NOTE: My heartfelt gratitude goes out to all who have donated to this fund. Please do not feel as if I am asking you for any more. All I ask is that you post this update on your social media, so that others may know of my family's situation. Let everyone know that even a small donation of $1 or $5 goes a long way when multiplied.<br /><br />Meanwhile, my 89-year old mother who lives alone in Mililani, the same town as her son's killer is afraid that she might run into her son's murderer in the line at Longs or Foodland. <br /><br />And now that Marty is no longer able to contribute to the family income, the 2 bedroom apartment is too expensive for her to afford, and I must look for other senior housing for her. <br /><br /><iframe media_type="0" media_id="RTnoHRjmLLI" class="youtube-replace" title="YouTube video player" style="margin-bottom:20px;width:560px;height:315px;" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/RTnoHRjmLLI/?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="1"></iframe><br /><br />On October 5, 2015 my wife's brother Marty Luippold was attacked by unknown assailants while while sitting in his car in a Tesoro parking lot in Mililani, Hawaii.  <br /><br />Police believe that at some point he got out of his vehicle, possibly to confront his attacker(s) and was struck fatally in the head. He was found lying on the pavement a few feet from his vehicle. Paramedics tried to revive him at the scene. He died at Wahiawa General Hospital later that evening from his head injuries.</p>
<p><br />Marty never married and had no children. However, he was the primary care giver for his 89 year old mother. My mother-in-law, June Luippold is partially disabled, and Marty had been caring for her for the past  five years, cooking, shopping, and cleaning. <br /><br />June is a widow. Her husband, Thomas Luippold, was a 28-year veteran of the Easthampton Police Department in Easthampton MA. Thomas passed away 7 years ago; and his retirement benefits ended with his death. <br /><br />June has no savings; her only income is a $350 monthly Social Security check. She receives financial support from her children and grandchildren.<br /><br />The family is only asking for money to help pay for funeral and burial expenses.  Also, the car sustained damage to the windshield and one of the tires was slashed during the attack.  June is too old to drive, but if we repaired the car we could sell it to give her some money.<br /><br />My wife Terry and I would like to thank everyone for their support, and also to express our appreciation for this Go Fund Me site for providing the means to lay Marty Luippold to rest.</p>

Marty Luippold's Killer Goes Free

Dear Animal Lovers,<br /><br />We desperately need your help to help our beloved cat, Gaura.<br />Gaura has had an accident, we are not sure how it happened, but the Doctor told us it was most likely a car, or a large dog. <br /><br /><br />Gaura is an adventurous one year old male cat who we have been caring for since his mom, who was a stray, birthed him under our house!<br /><br /><img class="not-resizable" src="https://2dbdd5116ffa30a49aa8-c03f075f8191fb4e60e74b907071aee8.ssl.cf1.rackcdn.com/4259454_1429564566.0872_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" />(baby Gaura)<br /><br /><br />Gaura has become a part of our family, and he is especially doted on by our daughter, who had been begging for a pet cat for years, and has finally had that wish fulfilled.  The two of them are totally inseparable.<br /> <br /><br /><img class="not-resizable" src="https://2dbdd5116ffa30a49aa8-c03f075f8191fb4e60e74b907071aee8.ssl.cf1.rackcdn.com/4259454_1429562485.0819_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" />(Gaura giving our daughter tree climbing tips!)<br /><br />Yesterday Gaura dragged himself into our house, he was obviously looking to us to help him in his hour of need. He could barely walk, and his breathing was laboured. He crouched on the floor, looking at us, waiting for us to help him.<br /><br />We took him to the vet pronto, and the vet after examining him and doing some x-rays, told us that he has a ruptured diaphragm and his intestines, stomach and liver are in his chest cavity. <br />She reccommends immediate surgery or euthanasia. She said that he has a very good chance of making it through the surgery because he is a young and healthy cat.<br />The fee for the surgery $5000-$8000, depending on what they discover when they open him up.<br />We would never hesitate to pay this to have Gaura well again,  if we had the money, but the truth is that we do not have that kind of money. We could barely pay for the $417 fee to keep him stable over night while we figure how to raise the money for the surgery.<br />We love Gaura so much, he is such a friendly, loving, outgoing cat, we believe with all our hearts that he deserves to have a chance at living.<br />We are hoping to raise enough money to give him that chance.<br /><br /><br /><img class="not-resizable" src="https://2dbdd5116ffa30a49aa8-c03f075f8191fb4e60e74b907071aee8.ssl.cf1.rackcdn.com/4259454_1429562558.5915_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" /><br /><br />We are heartbroken that Gaura is suffering, and your donations will help us afford the care  that he deserves.<br />Please help if you can, it would mean so much to our entire family, and to Gaura, who has, in one short year, become so dear to us.<br /><br /> Much love and Gratitude<br />the Hansen family<br /><br />P.s Gaura will be treated at the Feather and Fur Animal Hospital, in Kailua, if you want to check the bona fides of his story.<br /><br /><br /><img class="not-resizable" src="https://2dbdd5116ffa30a49aa8-c03f075f8191fb4e60e74b907071aee8.ssl.cf1.rackcdn.com/4259454_1429564638.2271_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" />(Gaura's fav sleeping spot- in our daughters wardrobe!
