<div>Hi

</div>

<div>I’m Roger Hajali. AKA RogerEUC and my best friend Dawn Champion needs your help. She was riding her EUC on the Santa Ana River trail and missed a turn that sent her down a rocky cement embankment that has injured her to the point that we have concerns about her pulling through. She is tough and I know she will recover, but she is currently in a medically endured coma. She just extended herself financially to get back on her feet after a divorce and this will make things impossible for her without our help.

<div>Shortly before 6PM on Friday, October 18th, Taz's world was flipped upside-down in a completely inconceivable way and with absolutely no warning.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>He'd left his house just over an hour before what came next: a tragedy unfolding, in real time, in Gerlach- the place where people wait for October, because that's when things return to the quiet stolen over the course of Summer. He was at the office, around the corner from his home as dinner time neared when a concerned, local friend called him on the phone to inform him that his house was on fire. The first thing he did after arriving to his house was an attempt to go inside (before emergency personnel arrived) hoping to save his decades-long cat companion.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Shortly thereafter, the town heard explosions as (presumed) propane tanks gave way to the heat. By the time most of us in town arrived, the fire department was already on site and the damage was immeasurable. At least two hours after the fire had been spotted, it still was incapable of being fully extinguished. Community members sat with Taz as he watched all of his earthly belongings turn to ash.

Help Taz Rebuild After Devastating Fire

<div>Hi everyone!!! My name is David Miles Jr. but on the playa at Burning Man I'm known as "The GodFather". In San Francisco, I'm known as the "GodFather of Skate". I love roller skating. I have been bringing the roller rink to Burning Man for 20 years now. From its humble beginnings in 1999 to now in 2023, we have worked to make the rink better, to bring better roller skates, improve the rink floor and lighting and present a fun, exciting skating experience on the playa just like the experience we present in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>As Burning Man has evolved over the years, the Black Rock Roller Disco has evolved as well. We have a wood floor that we maintain and upgrade every year. Each year we have to replace some of the boards and bring in more skates. As we approach Burning Man 2023, we want to make the rink bigger and we want to have the rink floor shaded for daytime roller skating.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This year we plan to bring in a truss system where we can put shade over the entire rink floor area. This will make what is a fantastic night time possible in the daytime. We tried this before and it was successful, but for the past three years we've built roller rinks with shade at Liberation Park in Oakland Ca. (in the photo above) and at the Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) in Las Vegas. We've learned to build this to withstand the winds and make it so people can skate even in 100 degree weather. However, making this happen will cost money so I am appealing to you to help me.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The truss system itself costs $20,000.00. I need to rent a truck to get it to Black Rock City. The rink floor needs about $2,000.00 worth of improvements. We're doing other fundraisers and events and things are coming along well, but as we approach 50 days before we leave for the playa we will be about $6,000.00 short.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Please, we need your help. Anything you can contribute is greatly appreciated.
</div>

Throwing Shade on the Black Rock Roller Disco

<p><img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/51042684_159952426728931_r.jpeg" alt="51042684_159952426728931_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" /><br /><br />On the night of August 19th, the CZU Lightning Complex fires overran the tower site that my wife and I own and operate on Empire Grade. This tower was host to the Alertwildfire.org tower camera, a second fire detection camera accessible to Cal Fire and the Bonny Doon Fire Team, three ham radio repeaters (WB6ECE, W6DXW, and W6WLS), an ADS-B plane tracking receiver, an AIS ship tracking receiver, six of the scanrad.io (formerly firescan.net) receivers, and a wireless ISP (Ridge Wireless).
</p>

<p>The tower was originally built in 1971, and withstood numerous storms, at least one lightning strike, and the Loma Prieta earthquake, but the guy anchors were melted in the fire and it had to be dropped to the ground a few days after the fire for safety.
</p>

<p>Due to its age, it wasn't feasible to insure the tower itself or the building at the base housing the equipment, which is now a cinder-block shell with no roof... all the electrical wiring and racks and radio equipment and standby generator have burned.<br /><br />Each of the organizations with equipment on the tower and in the shelter at the base will be raising funds to replace that equipment... but none of that matters unless I can rebuild the tower and shelter for them to use.<br /><br />Our estimate is that the replacement tower will be on the order of $20,000 and installation will cost about as much. There will be cleanup costs, permit fees, cost to rebuild the roof and electrical system in the shelter, and we've already spent $5000 for the emergency work to drop the damaged tower safely.<br /><br />I will provide regular updates on the cleanup process, planning/permitting, and construction - assuming we raise enough funds to get that far.<br /><br />For financial transparency: The radio tower property address is 125 Patrick Road in Bonny Doon, CA - APN 080-041-03 and is owned by Matthew Kaufman (myself) and J. Rebecca Jacobs (my wife). Our home and outbuildings were burned to the ground just a few miles away, and then a few hours later the tower site burned over in the same fire. All funds raised in this fundraiser will be used exclusively to rebuild the radio tower, shelter and shared site infrastructure (generator, racks, shared antennas) and not for any of our other losses. The funds will not be used to replace any of my hobby equipment that was at the site, nor will they be used by any of the ham radio groups for their equipment replacement. If we successfully replace the tower, we will continue to allow select ham radio groups and the Alertwildfire camera network to use the tower at no charge.
</p>

Rebuild the Empire Grade Tower Site

<div>Dear friends,
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Every two years the <a href="https://civlcomps.org/event/pgworlds-2023" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">FAI World Championships of Paragliding</a> (aka “Worlds”) gives nations a chance to compete in racing paragliders - one of the coolest games on earth! This May, the Worlds will be held in the French Alps - one of the classic racing arenas in paragliding.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This edition of the Worlds comes at a time when the competition scene in the US has been burgeoning, with more pilots than ever interested in competitions at all levels. We want to continue on that trajectory, leading our nation towards the top echelon of the paragliding world.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>A little about the team:</strong>
</div>
<div>We’re immensely proud to be fielding a very talented, competitive team this year. Josh Cohn and Andy Macrae have been competing nationally and internationally for over 40 years combined. Evan Bouchier is currently ranked in the top 100 in the world. And we’re excited to announce that this will be the first year any nation has sent more than one scoring female team pilot to the Worlds! Violeta Jimenez and Galen Kirkpatrick have been racing hard at almost every high-level competition for the past couple of years, including the PWC Superfinal. We’re making history, y’all!
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>What can you expect from us:</strong>
</div>
<div>Reports on how we’re training together, what’s working for us as a team mentally and technically, and what we’re learning before, during, and after the competition. You can follow us at <a href="https://www.instagram.com/usparaglidingteam/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@usparaglidingteam</a> and <a href="https://www.facebook.com/uspgteam/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><a href="https://www.facebook.com/uspgteam/" target="_blank" class="" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">https://www.facebook.com/uspgteam/</a></a>.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Our ask:</strong>
</div>
<div>We are asking for your help to cover the costs of the competition and coaching so we can field a strong, unified, well-prepared team that will represent the US with pride and distinction.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We’re also working on a sweet Team USA jersey design as a gift for $500 and up donors. To get your hands on a jersey from the first batch, please donate by April 1st!
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We appreciate your support and involvement! Please share this with your local clubs and anyone you think would be interested in supporting the team.

Help send Team USA to the 2023 PG Worlds

<div>Hi, I am Jeff Greenbaum and have been visiting and flying this launch in <strong>Puerto Vallarta</strong> for about 12 + years. There is a launch above the town in the district called Conchas Chinas. It was created many years ago by Hang Glider pilots who lived in PV.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Please expand (Click "See More" in text below) to view the launch "before" and "present" to see how bad we need this.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Flights like this are possible:
</div><iframe media_type="0" media_id="wAp7hUURW0o" class="youtube-replace" title="YouTube video player" style="margin-bottom:20px;width:560px;height:315px;" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/wAp7hUURW0o/?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="1"></iframe>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This launch is big enough for Intermediate and above Paragliders with solid launch skills. But, it has gotten so bad, it is now no longer safe. Only a few locals are flying here. They do not have funds to rebuild this. Materials will be purchased, and the entire launch ramp will be redesigned and rebuilt.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The soaring is fantastic, and you can land on Los Muertes Beach, nearby. From just 200 meters above the launch, flights past the downtown, landing on less crowded sand beaches. Only a few tourist pilots know about this amazing spot. I came up with the idea that we could get the funds and work with my friend Dan Dimov, a local, to rebuild and make it even better than before. Dan will help facilitate the rebuild when funds are there.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>It used to be decent, but far from perfect:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div><img alt="" media_type="3" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/70272937_1672870686213274_r." width="100%" />
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Now it is unusable / dangerous:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div><img alt="" media_type="3" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/70272937_1672870748876695_r." width="100%" />
<div><br />
</div><img alt="" media_type="3" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/70272937_1672870807382976_r." width="100%" />
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I will cover the first 300. Selfish me wants to fly there on my semi-annual trips. But this is about keeping this amazing launch available for locals and visitors. There is another flying site in Yelapa, but catching good days is much rarer than this amazing spot, right above town.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Included in this project will be trimming the trees below and getting the supplies up the moderately steep trail (about 25 minute hike from the nearest road). Getting wood or metal for the new ramp will take a ton of work. Upon completion, I will create a site guide, with access directions, that will be available to anyone but especially to donors.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We can do this, any amount will be accepted. Again, please share this to any Paragliding groups on social media!
</div>

Fix the Puerto Vallarta (Conchas Chinas) Launch

<div>My name is Mark, aka “Marky Mark”. I'm trying to get my dear friend and campmate, Graham, back on The Playa. As some of you may already know, due to a series of unfortunate events, Graham's wheelchair-accessible trailer was stolen from what we thought was a safe and secure parking lot (not too far from where The Monaco is stored). In hopes police would track it down before Graham arrived from Ireland, our wishes fell short.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>A few years back, I customized Graham’s trailer to accommodate his needs, and I’m ready to do it again!!
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>As we quickly approach our deadline, I realized I needed to ask for help. So I’m turning to you, my fellow Playa Pete’s Plaza campmates, and our beloved Burning Man community for some financial support. I know I can pull this off with a little bit of help from you. Anything you can donate is deeply appreciated.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I love you all and hope to see every one of you on The Playa. Please feel free to reach out anytime!
</div>

<div>On Thursday, October 14, 2021, Lev Yashin Villalobos was electrocuted and killed, while helping to rescue a young paraglider who had crashed into high-tension power lines in the municipality of El Cerrito, Valle del Cauca, Colombia.
</div>

<div>
</div>

<div>Lev had climbed the 30-foot structure, and secured the young man with a rope, allowing him to be lowered to the rescue party below. The rescue attempt succeeded, and the young paraglider survived with injuries, expected to make a full recovery. Lev, however, died in the attempt, while his family watched on.
