 My mom Tammy Cokel had a ct scan about 4 weeks ago. A malignant lesion was found in her pancreas. She recently had a biopsy that showed an adenocarcinoma. The ct scan that will tells us if the lesion can just be removed or chemo to shrink it because of where it's at. The medical staff has been amazing! Meeting the cancer surgeon very soon. This is a complete shock but my mom is one strongest women I know! So glad she got put on mounjaro for her a1c because it flared the pancreas which we caught it in the early stages. She will be taking time off for treatment.

 Please consider donating to help Tammy during this difficult time.

Early-Stage Pancreatic Cancer Care for Tammy Cokel

<p>Hi, my name is Alexa, and <b>I’m raising funds to help support my boyfriend (Andrew) after a sudden, permanent, life changing spinal cord injury.</b>
</p>
<p>My boyfriend was in a devastating accident that caused multiple spinal fractures and a spinal cord injury. He required emergency spinal decompression surgery and a multi-level spinal fusion. He now has rods and hardware stabilizing his spine. The surgery saved his life, but everything changed in an instant.
</p>
<p>He is currently unable to walk and is in an inpatient rehabilitation center. Every day is uncertain, and the road ahead will be long. Despite this, he is alive, and healing.

<p><b>UPDATE‼️</b>
</p>
<p><b> </b>Andy is coming home in a wheelchair next week, and I’m trying to become his full-time caregiver with no income. The application can take time-that i do not have. I am now facing new challenges. I’m overwhelmed because I have no steady income, but I’m the one who will be responsible for his daily care while I apply for government caregiver assistance that can take time to start.
</p>
<p>I’m driving back and forth constantly, trying to prepare our home, care for our cats, and figure out how to support both of us while everything changes at once. I am about to have a mental breakdown. I am 26, and I recently lost my job of almost 4 years of employment. Every penny donated has been what has helped me. I am grateful for the kindness and support.
</p>
<p>Your donation helps us keep moving forward, one day at a time.
</p>
<p><b><i>Any amount makes a difference. If you can’t donate, sharing this fundraiser with others means just as much.</i></b>

<p>Thank you so much for reading and helping me help him.

Help Me Help Him–Severe Spinal Injury

<div>Hi, my name is Anderson Taylor. I’m 10 years old and I’ve loved fossils and natural history my entire life. After visiting the Staffin Dinosaur Museum while vacationing with my family in Scotland in 2022, I knew I wanted to open a museum of my own someday. With the help of my family, my community, and a lot of generous people from around the country, <strong>that dream became real on August 9th, 2024.</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I attended many village board meetings and met with the village administrator many times about my dream of opening a museum, which resulted in the Village of Cambridge kindly letting me use an old building free of charge to get started. On opening day, I started with a single display case of fossils and artifacts. The collection has since grown to fill eleven cases and the museum has welcomed hundreds of visitors from around the world. We regularly host school and daycare field trip groups, and it’s been amazing to see how many people are excited to learn about natural history right here in our small town.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I have been overwhelmed with the generosity I have experienced this past year and want to do everything I can to fulfill my promise to those who have lovingly donated fossils, minerals, artifacts, and more to the museum and ensure these items will be displayed for years to come.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>This is where I need your help!</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>My goal is to raise $50,000 to purchase and renovate the building the museum currently occupies.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Your donation will help:
</div>
<ul>
<li>Secure a permanent home for the museum in Cambridge, IL
</li>
<li>Restore and preserve the building’s brick exterior
</li>
<li>Finish the upstairs space and convert it into a short-term rental to help support the museum financially and provide much-needed temporary lodging in the area
</li>
<li>Update and repair the museum space, and create a small gift shop for visitors
</li>
</ul>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>If you believe in the power of curiosity, education, and young people chasing big dreams, I hope you’ll consider donating. Every dollar brings us closer to making the museum a permanent part of Cambridge.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Thank you so much for your support!
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>– Anderson
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>PS - Please join us in celebrating our one-year anniversary on Saturday, August 10th. We'll be open from 11am to 4pm that day.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>NOTE: The goal amount shown may not reflect the actual goal. Because campaigns on GoFundMe are all-or-nothing, they gradually increase the goal amount as donations come in. This ensures that if the full goal is not met, partial funding is still available.

Cambridge Natural History Museum Needs a Permanent Home

<div>Thank you to everyone that has reached out to us the last couple of days. Please keep our girl Chloe Gruszeczka in your thoughts and prayers. Very early Thursday morning we woke up to her yelling in pain and went to the ground in a seizure. She was transported by ambulance where they found a large mass in her brain. She was promptly life flighted to peoria where they rushed her into surgery to remove the left side of her skull to relieve pressure. They are running lots of tests but due to the large amount of blood in her brain from the hemmorage they are unsure what exactly caused this and can't get clear images. We have a very long road ahead of us and everything is very uncertain. So far she's defied the odds and has been moving all limbs and her vitals have been great. Our next goal is to ween her of the ventilator so we can better assess her status. We are beyond grateful to everyone that has been here for us and everyone that have messaged. We will continue to update as days go on and please know we are trying to respond to everyone as we can.
</div>
<div>UPDATE: Chloe update. We are not out of the woods yet, but today was a big win for Chloe. She is off the ventilator and breathing on her own. She is in alot of pain, but defying all the odds. But then again, we expect nothing less from her. From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU to everyone that has helped us so far.
</div>

Support Chloe Gruszeczka's Road to Recovery

<div>With the help of many volunteers, the Galva Rotary Club and its sponsored Rotary Community Corps is working with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources to replace the fence surrounding the park in Bishop Hill, Illinois. The large project can be done for a fraction of the total cost because local, passionate people are willing to donate their time and labor to this endeavor. The Galva Rotary Club is looking for your help in raising the funds for the materials so that this portion of State-owned property in Bishop Hill can be restored.

<div>Nico had a run in with the ground. She fell off of a slide, causing her to severely fracture her forearm and wrist. Due to this, she needs major surgery and will have much follow up care to get her back on the road to recovery. During all of this, her bravery has been astonishing. Her strong spirit will get her through this. We just need some help financially to get her to cross the finishing line. We are appreciative for well wishes and special thoughts as tomorrow she will be going under for her second (and hopefully last) surgery.

Nico’s fix her arm fund

<div>Hi, we are Jeremy and Nicole Painter. We are trying to raise funds for a furnace for Special Kneads Bakery in Galva, IL. This bakery was started by a wonderful lady, Margaret Cortes, and her family. They started this bakery to help their super amazing son, Frankie, have a way to step into adulthood and continue to have daily purpose and independence. Frankie and our daughter, Megan, met through their neighboring Life Skills programs in High School. They became fast friends.
</div>
<div><br />

</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This bakery provides an invaluable resource to the special needs community. Many of us parents/guardians are at an absolute loss as what to do with our children once school is no longer an option or fit. Our children have so much to offer the world and are so very talented. However, they require a good deal of assistance for that to be carried out on a daily basis. The world is a very scary place for all starting out, now imagine having a 21 year old body, but the mental intelligence/capacity of a very young child for life (this is our Meg). The options for someone like Megan are very limited, even if they do exist.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Special Kneads Bakery is opening so many opportunities for Megan and her friends in our rural communities. The vision Margaret has for this safe haven is truly a God Sent. Margaret wants this to be a place for all to be accepted, loved, and valued. She wants to be able to give those with unique challenges a chance to excel and be as independent as possible.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The Bakery is currently in desperate need of a furnace. They have been running off overhead type heaters that are extremely inefficient. One of them has also recently died. They need a good gas furnace to keep their workers and patrons warm during these cold days in Illinois. This is an IMMEDIATE need. Special Kneads does not currently have a Non Profit status, but is a For Profit business. The heart of this business, however, is one of service to those that are the most vulnerable among us in our humble opinion. The chance it provides those like Megan and Frankie has no price tag.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We appreciate any and all help. Please share this fundraiser even if you can not contribute financially. Prayers/Good Vibes, etc are also always desired as well. Make sure to stop into the Bakery whenever you find yourself in Galva as you may enter a stranger, but leave a friend always. Check out the amazing things happening there.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Thank you for your time and consideration.

Help Your Special Kneads Community Stay Comfy

<div>My name is Jennifer Russell. My best friend Steve Faber needs a double lung transplant. He is required to stay in a hotel by Northwestern Hospital for three months following the surgery. His insurance will pay most of the medical bills but he has to pay for the hotel bill, food and other related expenses, including co-pays for the surgery. He is also required to have people with him 24/7 so that adds significant expenses for family and friends to take the train to and from, Kewanee and Chicago. Steve must have a double lung transplant because one of his lungs is already dead and the other is around 20% and has a fungal infection. He goes in for five days of testing on June 27, 2023, and two of his caretakers, myself being one, go up for a six-hour training course. We will train the other caretakers. The transplant team said it takes around 30 days to get the lungs for the surgery at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Steve is working on getting long-term rates with a hospital discount for a hotel. We can take things, like a microwave and/or air fryer, to the hotel for cooking. Any help is APPRECIATED! Thank you.

Steve Faber Lung Transplant Expenses

<div>On January 5th, the Powell family experienced the devastating loss of their daughter and sister Brycelyn. She leaves behind her parents Kara and James and sisters Kamdyn and Hensley. At the age of 2 years-old Brycelyn had been diagnosed with epilepsy. Unfortunately, on the 5th she had a seizure that her little body could not handle and passed away at only 6 years-old.
</div>
<div>No family should have to go through the grief of losing a child and figure out how they are going to take care of funeral expenses and pay bills! The funds will go directly to Kara and James to help offset the cost of the funeral and any bills they have and to help with loss of wages. If you are not able to donate please just pray for their family and share this fundraiser!
</div>

Help the Powell Family with expenses!

My sister Meghan Foster (Hatch) lost her fiancé and partner of seven years suddenly and unexpectedly the Wednesday before Christmas. He was her safe place, her home,  the love of her life and she and her kids were his. They had a bright future ahead that they had worked very hard to achieve. He was a Navy Helicopter Pilot turned instructor and had just completed his doctorate in physical therapy at the University of Kentucky. He wanted to help bring other veterans health and comfort. They, along with Meghan’s three children, had relocated to Lexington, Kentucky for his schooling. They had recently bought a home together and were solidifying their life together as a family. She and her kids are grieving a huge loss and we want the focus at this time to be on her and her family as they begin to navigate what life will look like without him. Meghan is not one to ask for help for herself so we’d like to do this on her behalf. Any support would be much appreciated. If you are unable to donate monetarily, we know she would value stories about Warner, words of support, prayers and encouragement. Please share if you know anyone who would want to help Meghan. Thank you.

Bereavement Expenses for Meghan Foster (Hatch)

<div>We (Hannah Torbert and Neil Schmitzer-Torbert) are raising funds to support our brother, <strong>Tom Torbert</strong> and his family, as they start their fight against lung cancer.
</div>

<div>
</div>

<div>A loving father, a wonderful friend, Tom Torbert found himself experiencing a lot of pain at the end of the summer. After a few medical tests, his doctor ordered a CT scan, which came back with some very concerning results. There were masses in both lungs, and some spots in his liver. After that first CT scan, Tom and his fiancée, Kelly, spent almost a month fighting their way through a tangle of problems with an insurance network to try to get some answers.
</div>

<div>
</div>

<div>After that first CT scan, it was<strong> three weeks</strong> before Tom was approved for a biopsy. And, that was when doctors confirmed that Tom has an aggressive form of lung cancer (small cell), which has spread to his liver and kidneys.
</div>
<img class="m-text-editor-image" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/61371505_1637417369702552_r." alt="" width="100%" media_type="3" />
<div>
</div>

<div>To get this news was devastating for all of us. That a young man, loved by his family and friends, with a fiancée and a young son, had lung cancer just did not seem possible. We cannot even describe how important this family is to us, to our community. We want the best for Tom and Kelly, and their son, Skylar.
</div>

<div>
</div>

<div>So, now, we are jumping out of paralysis and in to <strong><em>action</em></strong>. Tom has started his treatment, and we feel so relieved that he has a great medical team working on his case. If you Google (but please, don’t do that) small cell lung cancer, the prognosis is poor. But, treatments are continuing to improve, and we are excited that Tom is working to enroll in a new clinical trial specifically for small cell lung cancer.
</div>

<div>
</div>

<div>It is a great relief, for us, to see Tom’s treatment has started, and that he is getting great care. And, we want to do our part, too. Right now, what Tom, Kelly, and Skylar need most, beyond us being there for them, is help with their expenses. To help cover medical expenses. To make up for lost work. To cover all of the unpaid time off that is going to be required as they manage all of the medical visits. To make sure Skylar has everything a four-year-old needs.
</div>

<div>
</div>
<img class="m-text-editor-image" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/61371505_1637417404415208_r." alt="" width="100%" media_type="3" />
<div>
</div>

<div>What we want for this family is for all of them to be able to focus on Tom’s treatment, and to be able to be present for one another during this time. We don’t want them to have to worry about finances, as they have enough worries as it is.
</div>

<div>
</div>

<div>In his memoir about his wife, Kate’s, cancer, Paul Broks was struck by something that Kate said to him, late in her treatment, “<strong><em>You don’t know how precious life is. You think you do, but you don’t.</em></strong>”
</div>

<div>
</div>

<div>Maybe we don’t know, either. Not really. But, we know, we are learning, <strong><em>how precious time is</em></strong>, and we want to make the most of each minute.
</div>

<div>
</div>
<img class="m-text-editor-image" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/61371505_1637417454230416_r." alt="" width="100%" media_type="3" />
<div>
</div>

<div>All donations will be sent to Kelly, Tom's fiancée, and Tom and Kelly will use any funds raised to meet their expenses.<br /><br />Anything you can contribute is enough, and will be a blessing to this family. Thank you.
</div>

<div>
</div>

Support and Prayers for Tom Torbert

<p>My name is Diane Tucker, and I am raising funds for my sister, Karen Marlow Nelson. She recently had shoulder surgery and is in a rehab facility, because she is unable to walk with her walker using only one arm.

<p>Her insurance is covering her physical therapy but will no longer pay for her stay at the facility. The physical therapist says it will be at least two more months before she is able to walk with her walker using both arms.

Help Karen Heal

<strong>In January of 2018, Sue Gruszeczka was unexpectedly diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of sixty seven.  Sue has tried to tackle this cancer and the treatments independently, but she has reached a point where she needs your help.  She has personally exhausted all her resources and used all her credit to fight this battle the past 10 months. Her fight is not over and she is not ready to give up!  This is why the family is reaching out and asking for your help.  With your donation she will be able to continue her treatment and fully heal from cancer.</strong><br /><br />I realize some of you may not know our mother so let us tell you a little about her.<br /><br />Sue is now 68 years old and a mother of three. She has 2 daughters and 1 son and has been blessed 10 times over with grandchildren. Born and raised in Kewanee, IL, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends. If there is an event for her grandchildren, you will surely see her at basketball, volleyball, or softball games or even a wrestling match. She also shows her support for the pom pom squad and the cheer squad. Prior to her grandkids, she was supporting her own children and their passions and activities.  She has always been a constant in all of our lives. She is loving and strong. She is giving and charitable. She is the type of person who would give the shirt off her back to make sure others were taken care of. She has been blessed with a strong faith, strong family, and great friends. She is quick to smile and friendly to those she meets. <br /><br /><strong>The Diagnosis<br /></strong><br />In January of 2018, Sue found a lump in her breast. She had a mammogram and a biopsy was scheduled shortly thereafter. The biopsy tested positive for cancer and shortly thereafter she was diagnosed with Stage 3 Breast Cancer. This was a difficult time for the family as our mom’s world was turned upside down. The following weeks and months were a complete whirlwind. Her phone rang non-stop with calls from doctors, nurses, family, and friends. Tears were shed and some days it took all her energy just to get out of bed. Along the way, she found hope and strength through family, friends, and breast cancer survivors who reached out to her with love, support, and kind words. At times, she also dealt with anger and despair. The months following her diagnosis were some of the hardest days of her life. But she fought and fought like the true warrior she is.<br /><br /><strong>Why Does She Need Your Help?</strong> <br /><br />No if’s, and’s, or but’s about it, a cancer diagnosis is expensive. Unfortunately, medical insurance only covers so much. The indirect cost of a cancer diagnosis in loss wages is significant and debilitating along with the additional expenses of prescription co-pays, fuel to travel from appointment to appointment and treatment to treatment, car maintenance for the additional wear and tear on her vehicle, and additional services needed while in treatment have exhausted all her resources. <br /><br />Asking for help like this is scary for her and the family. We are sharing our family’s private and intimate information with the world. However, Sue genuinely needs your help. We hold a deep faith and believe that God will provide for our mom through thoughtful, caring and generous people like you. We believe in the good in others and that people want to help others when they truly need it. We believe that each person can make a difference. So, we are here now asking for your help.<br /><br /><strong>Gratitude and Thanks<br /></strong><br />We are very grateful to everyone for taking the time to read this. We are humbled beyond words by your acts of generosity. Each of your gifts enable Sue to continue her treatment and heal from this awful disease. Thank you for your compassion, love, support, prayers and financial support as she continues to fight for her health. <br /><br />Please pass along the link to this page to your family, friends, coworkers, and community members that may be willing to help. <br /><br />With love and gratitude, <br />The Family of Sue (Osborne) Gruszeczka
