My name is Nick Maraldo of <a href="https://www.wickedcreekwoodworks.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Wicked Creek Woodworks</a> . I was a student of Phil's and an instructor at the Furniture Institute of Massachusetts. The Goal


Phil kept and cataloged every full size drawing he ever drafted throughout his career. With the help of Artie Keenan, Phil's dearest friend and shop assistant, our goal is to scan and catalog every drawing in his collection. These are full sized drawings with stock lists, mostly of period furniture. The scanning process is very expensive, but we want to preserve these drawings for future generations of woodworkers. Each scan will be of the highest quality in order to produce a beautiful and usable drawing. We’ve been working closely with John Lorusso at <a href="https://thebigscan.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Big Scan</a>  to achieve this lofty goal. He has the right scanner to handle these large drawings, some of which are quite delicate (for example, Phil's 1967 North Bennet Street School student drawings). John will handle the post processing to ensure the drawings are clear and readable. We recommend checking out his website for a demonstration of his work and equipment. John is very excited to take part in this project as this is the kind of work that he is most passionate about.

 We intend to make the full collection available to the general public for free With these drawings, Phil can continue to teach us well into the future. We hope that they will be utilized by woodworking schools, students, and professionals as a way to understand and craft these amazing pieces of furniture. The information held in the drawings is to be shared and used by all. However, the drawings themselves are not to be used in any commercial capacity, for example, reproduction for sale (whether digital or printed) is prohibited.  Only works derived from the information held in the drawings are allowed under the copyright. TO REITERATE: The drawings are free to all to enjoy and learn from. You may use them as a reference to craft furniture from. But the image of the drawings themselves are not to be used, or reproduced, in any way for commercial purposes or monetary gain. Contributions for this fundraiser are to be considered a gift. We are not a non-profit so your donation is not tax deductible. We appreciate the help and support of the woodworking community to carry out this project. The end product will result in an amazing resource for woodworkers of all types, interests, and abilities. One thing to note: These are technical drawings and not step-by-step plans. After some drawings are scanned, we intend to release a video explaining how to read and understand them. They are beautiful works of art on their own – some are just magnificent to read. We will scan the drawings as we receive funding. If contributions exceed the total scanning cost, excess funds will be donated to the Lowe family as a thank you for allowing us to take on this project. They have been through so much these past few years, and we would love to make a contribution to them. Phil gave a great deal to the woodworking community; we hope we can give something in return. We plan to include as much context with the drawings as possible. If we have pictures of the pieces made from the drawings, or stories to tell, we will include it in the archive. Even if you are not interested in using the drawings to craft furniture or study their construction, this collection is an amazing history of the work Phil has accomplished over his career. <a href="https://sapfm.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Society of American Period Furniture Makers</a>  (SAPFM) has been a huge help in this process. For the short term, we will make the drawings available to the public through their website as they become available. Links will be provided periodically.

About Phil Even if you’ve never met Phil, you’ve probably either seen his work, read an article of his, or know someone who has been his student. His reach in the woodworking community is incredibly long. Phil had a long career in making masterwork period furniture and millwork. He was a teacher and mentor for thousands of students both at the North Bennet Street School in Boston and the Furniture Institute of Massachusetts in Beverly, MA. Phil has written countless articles for Fine Woodworking as well as other magazines and books, lectured all over the US, taught classes at all the major woodworking schools, and generated a great library of videos through YouTube and Fine Woodworking Magazine.

Preserving The Drawings of Philip C. Lowe

A helping hand for Team Turkitch Turkitch like many other businesses in the food industry is having a difficult time to continue to operate due to the threat of COVID-19. To help us close the financial bridge for our staff and our brand we started a GoFundMe campaign.


 My wife and I have put all we have into this business over the past 5 years and proudly created the first and only Turkish brand in USA “Turkitch”. Thanks to all our staff, the neighbors, non-profits, school groups, promoters, and the Turkish community who have walked through these doors. We share memorable times here in Turkitch and feel like we relate to our roots. We have supported our Turkish and other Mediterranean communities, their events throughout these years and plan to support in years to come.


 In accordance with the law Turkitch Turkish Restaurant flagship store located in Lakeview, 565 W. Diversey Ave closed the dining room for what could be an indefinite amount of time. This has caused a major decline in our business and will make it impossible to stay in business.


We have done everything possible including make some difficult decisions and now more than 7 team members are left without employment. While closing indoor dining is the only option for us, it is a terrifying development in the lives of our hardworking staff members who rely on the many diners who come through our doors to provide income through their patronage of the restaurant. These hourly employees live not just paycheck to paycheck but day to day. Any amount of money, you generously care to donate will be distributed to our staff, for our rent, utilities and our suppliers and will be greatly appreciated beyond measure. Turkitch - Turkish Kitchen

This is David McAtee. Also known as “Yaya” &amp; the “BBQ man”. David McAtee was killed this morning in Louisville, Kentucky.  He was a black restaurant owner in the community who was fatally shot by authorities around midnight on June 1st. As of 10:45 AM, his body was still lying in the streets.  <img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/48462156_1591054540202314_r.jpeg" alt="48462156_1591054540202314_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" /> The National Guard had been deployed in Kentucky surrounding the protests, yet McAtee's death occurred at 26th and Broadway.... far far away from any of the protesting.   Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear had called on law enforcement to release the body cam footage of the shooting... but of course, their body cams were turned OFF. We should be absolutely horrified by this man's death and also by the fact that his body was left in the street for 12 hours after the shooting.  There is no goal to reach and there is no dollar amount that will ever equal David's life, so this campaign will do everything in its power to secure as many relief funds as possible for the McAtee family. His mother also lost a daughter earlier this year.   As well as doing anything you can to donate to black-led organizations focused on ending police brutality, I urge you to give what you can to this cause.  FAQ:  Who are you? Doughbies Recipe COVID Fundraiser

Hi there, As you know COVID-19 is sweeping across the world and is affecting us all.  As we protect ourselves and others by "social distancing" or by placing yourself in "self quarantine" it is having a massive affect on the economy and especially on freelancers and small business.  As you may know, I am a <a href="http://www.michaeladair.com" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">freelance opera singer</a> , and this means that I make my money from singing concerts throughout Europe.  However, if you don't sing, you don't get paid and there is no safety net or insurance to help out should something go wrong. As the tsunami of cancellations swept across Europe it also came for me.  Easter is the busiest time of the year for concerts and having a disruption during this period is a total disaster for all musicians.  I have now personally lost 100% of my Easter concert season which amounts to roughly 10,000€ in lost income.  All of these concerts have been cancelled and not postponed, so the planned income is simply gone.   There is also no other time of year except Christmas where singers are so fully booked, so with these cancelations there is no way for me to stay ahead financially. I have always had a second source of income for some stability as an English coach, but as businesses suffer, all "non-essential spending" has been cut, so 100% of my clients have cancelled for the foreseeable future. This has now left me with zero income for an unknown amount of time. and at this point it also seems that the state will not be stepping in to help the "little guy". So I am turning to you! Many of you know me, or know my photography from <a href="http://www.instagram.com/michaelthecanadia" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Instagram</a>  and I have been always very encouraged by your support over the years. Help Laura and Sayat Keep NOOSH!!

The purpose of the funding request is to build an ATATÜRK Park, second park designated to the founder of modern Turkey in entire US, at the property of Turkish American Cultural Association of Michigan (TACAM) in Wixom, Michigan.  All over the world,there are several designated areas named after Atatürk. But this project when completed will be the largest park in the world outside Turkey. TACAM which is a non-profit, public charity organization established in 1972 follows the philosophy of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, founder of the Turkish Republic, who stated: “Culture is the foundation of the Turkish Republic.” The purpose of TACAM is to foster, promote, plan and execute programs aimed at improving the economic, social, educational, general welfare and other humanitarian activities of the Turkish community in the State of Michigan and elsewhere. TACAM currently owns a 6.7 acre property which was purchased back in 1981. The purchase was made possible with the donations from the Turkish Michiganders at that time. Towards the back side of the property, approximately 3.6 acres, has not been utilized since the purchase, and currently has many fallen trees, leaves, and untrimmed bushes. However, TACAM board of directors believe that this un-utilized part of the lot has a great potential to be a public park with running paths, rest and display areas. Once the park has recreated, it will be named after Atatürk and will be a great display area to introduce him and his principles to the public both Americans and new generations of Turkish descent. The donations will be used to pay the cost of; 1-The 3.6 acre land clean-up which will include the  removal of small trees and bushes, removal of dead and down trees, as well as removal of all small trees under 5 inches and debris, 2- Hauling-away wood and wood chips to provide sufficient mulch to the designated areas to create a walking/running path, 3- Atatürk bust and base, and display units. TACAM-Ataturk Park

On May 31st 2016, Ali Gabrielli suffered from a stroke while in Brazil with her husband Daniel. A very rare, cavernous malformation in her brain stem, the area responsible for your motor skills and communication between your brain and body,  had partially ruptured, leaving her temporarily blind in one eye and in and out of consciousness for a week. Over the last two months, Ali has had to do daily psychical therapy to regain her balance, vision, speech and full range of motion on her left side. After a visit to San Francisco and specialists at UCSF, Ali was told the malformation needed to be removed. On Monday, August 8th, Ali underwent an 8 hour brain surgery to remove the cavernous malformation. I'm happy to say the doctors successfully removed it. Though currently blind in her left, with minimal speech and movement, her husband has reported that the doctors are impressed by the great progress she's made in a short period of time. If you know Ali, she's the life of the party, will drop everything to help a sister out and always, without fail has a beautiful smile on her face. She's a thoughtful, loving and adventurous soul. Her strength and resilience throughout what some would consider a nightmare is truly inspiring. Ali has a long road to recovery ahead of her and I'm confident she'll be back to herself in no time. She's never been one to ask for help in times of need so I'm doing it for her. Today is her birthday and there's no better gift to give her! Please join me in alleviating some of her and Daniel's financial stress to cover a portion of her medical bills. Big or small, any amount will help keep her smiling. Ali Gabrielli's Brain Surgery Fund

WE DID IT! YOU HAVE HELPED SAVE BURFORD'S POST OFFICE We have now completed our funding campaign in our community and beyond to ensure historic Burford in the Cotswolds continues to have a post office for our community and town. Without your support, we would have lost our post office service after Burford News shut down on 24 December. But with your support we have now raised the £10,000 needed to re-locate the post office next door to Mrs Bumbles (pictured above) under the management of Steve and Sally Colter, who run Mrs Bumbles. hey intend to sell broadly the same sort of goods as in the existing post office, including newspapers, cards and stationery. Throughout 'lockdown one' Sally and Steve were praised for their hard work, delivering meals and groceries to the vulnerable in the community. Completing the official Post Office transfer process is a complex task over many recent months and almost all the work and compliance has been completed by the Colters. They plan to open the new Post Office on 1 Feb.  Thanks to you and others in our community and beyond (include visitors) we have raised the £10,000 needed to ensure that Burford will have this essential community service for many years to come. John White, Mayor, says “ Burford deserves a post office and this is the best way to keep it”.
