<div>Hi, my name is Kim and I am Karey's sister. She underwent her 3rd brain surgery on February 10th for her recurring tumor. When she came out of surgery, we learned she had a stroke during her surgery.

<div>Her long term needs are going to include rehabilitation and much therapy to regain her strength back.
</div>
<div>She had to quit working a few years ago, so these medical bills will be adding up. I talked to her before her surgery about doing some type of fundraiser to help her. We didn't know then the extent of her medical bills, and we won't for some time. She is on her 5th day in the ICU, but still has a long way to go.

Peace Family!<br />My name is Kristian Blackmon,local activist,organizer and lover of black people.<br />I am the creator of this fund.<br />Rika Tyler another local activist,organizer and lover of black people is on my team.<br /><br />On May,30th,2020 unrest occurred in Ferguson and a business was vandalized.<br />After that incident many folx from the community, including myself ,asked if there was a fund in place to support black businesses, seeing there was none that I could find we decided to make this go fund me.<br /><br />This fund was put in place to lend financial support to local black businesses both as the pandemic and social unrest continues to rage throughout the country.<br /><br />We are part of the community that many of these businesses serve and that is how we are connected.<br />We vow to support black businesses in the St.Louis region whenever and however we can each and everyday.<br /><br />We can't do any work without community so we are asking the community to help support this fund.<br /><br />We originally set the fund at 10K and hit it in just 3 days!<br />The campaign was then raised to 20k and we have now hit they goal as well.<br /><br />As of now 6 businesses will receive donations from this fund.<br />I will update and share when the distributing of funds to these businesses occur once they are released from go fund me.<br /><br />Peace,Love and Power.

<div>I’m attempting to raise funds for my neighbors, Joannette Declue, her 10-year-old daughter Jordyn, and Justin Edwards, who are facing an <strong>overwhelming financial crisis</strong> that has been <strong>exacerbated by a recent medical emergency</strong>.

<div>Even before the medical emergency, the family was struggling financially and <strong>living paycheck to paycheck</strong>. Then, on January 8, Justin was involved in a serious <strong>trucking</strong> <strong>accident</strong> where his truck flipped and he had to be med evac’d to a hospital in Texas. Justin spent in the ICU, fighting to breathe with the help of a ventilator after suffering from a lacerated spleen, broken ribs, and a punctured lung. While we’re grateful that he is slowly recovering, he and the family remain without his support and income from work. They’re also uncertain of the potential medical debt that might be accrued.

<div>Joanette and her daughter haven’t even been able to afford to travel to Texas to be with Justin during his hospitalization. They are coping with this frightening situation from afar while also trying to keep the household afloat and heat on.

<div>With Justin’s income gone, essential bills have quickly fallen even further behind:

<li>Monthly rent is <strong>$1,500</strong> <em>and they are already $250 behind</em>
</li>
<li>Their Ameren electric bill is at <strong>$1,117</strong> with service threatened to be shut off next week <em>(this includes their heat during this frigid winter!)</em>

<li>Groceries and everyday necessities continue to add up
</li>

<div>Joannette is exhausting community resources: she’s called United Way and has applied for LIHEAP, but most of these programs take time, require transportation, and do not cover immediate or extensive needs. Right now, the family is caught in a gap with no financial safety net.
