My name is Emily, and I’m reaching out during an unexpected and frightening financial crisis. After nearly five years with my employer, I was abruptly terminated following an employment-verification call from a prospective new employer. The timing and circumstances have left me without the income my household depends on while I continue actively searching for new employment. I support a household that includes myself, my chronically ill, disabled autistic partner, and our three cats- one of which has hip dysplasia and is on a medicated diet. Without my regular income, we are now struggling to cover the most basic necessities, including rent, groceries, gas, household expenses, and care for our animals. We moved to this area in June and are currently living under a month-to-month rental agreement. Because we are still in the process of establishing benefits and assistance in our new county, there is very little safety net available to us right now. The sudden loss of my income has placed us in an extremely vulnerable position. I am actively applying for work and doing everything I can to stabilize our household as quickly as possible. What we need most is help bridging the gap until I can secure new employment and our benefits and other resources are fully established. Any donation, no matter the amount, would go directly toward keeping a roof over our heads, food in our home, gas for transportation and job searching, essential bills, and the care of our three cats.
