 On September 5, a driver drove into the Heavy Anchor, destroying the front of the building and causing incredible harm. Let’s help Josh and Jodie recover from this tragedy. Your support will go to rebuilding this community asset and supporting staff while they are out of a job. The Heavy Anchor has been there for us - let’s be there for them.
</div>

Rebuild the Heavy Anchor

<div>To our beloved community near and far, you may have heard by now of the devasting loss of The Gelateria.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Early in the morning of March 7th, 2025, a fire started in our basement and spread to the café and other parts of the building. While thankfully no one was injured, the damage to the café is extensive and we will have to close for a number of months as we sort through the scope of rebuilding.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The loss of our space is heartbreaking, but we are especially grieving the loss of serving our community. Tower Grove and South Grand represent all the wonderful things about our city, and we all went to bed last night expecting a weekend with patio weather and the buzz of coffee, pizza, gelato, and community.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Currently, we have been informed by the SBA that we will need to have 15% equity, instead of the 10% we thought, to get our monster loan funded. That maths out to $120,000 additional funds that we need to come up with. Honestly, we don't have it. We were able to purchase the building and have the 10% equity which is required of existing businesses.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Many people today are experiencing disruptions in many facets of life, especially in the food and beverage industry, and we are beyond grateful that so many people have reached out to support us when we are all facing tough times.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We would love for you to consider supporting us as we look to rebuild. We will see you soon, but not as soon as we wish.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Love,
</div>

Community Aid for The Gelateria's Loss

<div>Hi, as many as of you know, my family of 4 moved into our house in May 2025. Already, it seems we have hit a big home-owner hurdle as when my wife &amp; I got home from opening night of my recent show, we discovered that our entire garage and basement had flooded due to a drainage backup during the recent storm, leaving 6” of standing water across our entire lower floor. We have reached out to insurance which will be able to partially cover some of the costs, but unfortunately they will only be able to cover pretty much just the base cost of tearing up the floors, deep cleaning &amp; drying, and cutting up 2 feet of drywall. We will have to replace all of the flooring, redo the drywall, and replace thousands of dollars in personal possessions that were damaged with the water out of our own pocket. So with that, just thought I might reach out and see if anyone is willing to help dig us out of that financial hole that the flood has left us in. Any amount is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Helping the Humburgs Water Damage Repairs

<div>Hello, my name is Jody Werner and my family has suffered terribly this year. My mother and grandmother’s house was destroyed by a fire, likely due to a space heater, on December 26th, the day after Christmas, instantly wiping out nearly all of their possessions. The home was shared with my brother and two nephews, and now they are all displaced. We lost at least one family pet in the fire, and are still searching for one more. The other three are with me for now.

</div>

<div><br />
</div>

<div>The year started with mom having both a heart attack and stroke in late January 2022. By March, she had a lifesaving quintuple bypass surgery, and the rest of the year has been spent getting her nursed back to health, then this tragedy struck. They found out the day after the fire that the homeowners insurance had recently lapsed, and they are no longer covered (for the first time in the 45 years my grandmother has owned the house). This is the worst possible scenario, and I am frantically trying to make sure that my family can overcome this and get back on their feet. Every single penny will be spent carefully and thoughtfully in order to ensure that mom, grandma, Clayton, Phoenix, Evan, and the pets are clothed, fed, housed, and taken care of medically. I don’t know how much it costs to completely start over, but I do know that it’s expensive and with enough community support we can get through this and hopefully have a much brighter future.

</div>

<div><br />
</div>

<div>Included are a couple of photos of the living room, where just the day before we spent Christmas together, in our family home, for one last time.

</div>

<div><br />
</div>

<div>Thank you, from the bottom of all of our hearts. ♥️

The Werner and McLean Family Needs Your Help

<div>Hi, my name is Courtney, I am Megan Bethel's sister. On Tuesday July 26, 2022, record breaking rain caused absolute devastation across Missouri. The Bethels were also devastated by flooding as a result. They had water pouring in the windows of their basement and sewage coming from the pipes inside. They had over 2 feet of standing sewage water in their basement in the end. As a result, they need a new HVAC system, repairs on their hot water heater, new carpet, drywall, possibly a new washer and dryer, they lost furniture, toys, instruments, and countless memories through family photos that are destroyed. Insurance is not covering any of the loss so I am raising funds to assist in the repair, rebuild, and replacement of these items. Any unused funds will be donated to neighbors that have also suffered as a result of flooding.

<p>Hi, my name is Stacey and I am Willie’s Wife. As you all know, Willie’s is closed till we find a new home. Willie and Richard are beyond devastated and I am reaching out to see if anyone can help. This Tuesday an inspector from the City of St. Louis came by irate, didn’t give any information as to what my husband needed to do, but simply kept over-talking him and saying they had no occupancy and were operating illegally. Yet, everytime he called the city, there was a valid occupancy there. Well, after the inspector places a condemnation on the building, it was finally explained that the landlord closed his business which voided their occupancy as an incubator kitchen. The landlord was apparently notified in May, an inspection rescheduled for July, and the landlord did not act. The building was placed under contract in June and the landlord said nothing until late June after the neighborhood would not approve of a liquor license. Now, July 29th, the new owners show up and say they have to go by Monday, voiding a 30 day notice. Inspector comes back that Tuesday, again without letting them know what is going on, tells them they are operating illegally and threatens to shut them down. He called the city and all they see is that the occupancy is valid. Thursday morning, inspector comes and condemns the building. For them to work so hard and to do everything right, and for it to be taken from them is very disheartening. So now, we have lost sales from today and the rest of the month, business loans, wages, and product and have to find a new home. So if you can help in anyway, we would appreciate it!

June 2nd is a day that the Bishops will never forget.   Clayton hadn't been feeling his best for a few days, but continued to go to work because he couldn't pinpoint what was going on and why he wasn't feeling like himself.  Shortly after he got home from work that evening, he suddenly lost all feeling in his legs and feet as he walked across the kitchen, collapsing on the floor, unable to move from that point on.  Over the next few hours he went from being rushed to an urgent care facility and then being transported to the hospital, as the paralysis travelled up his body and began to affect everything -  breathing, swallowing, heart rate and blood pressure, and the ability to move his arms and legs.  Thankfully, as a result of God’s provision for quick intervention by skilled specialists and a lot of testing, Clayton was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré Syndrome and immediately began treatment.<br /><br />Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) is a rare neurological disorder in which the body's immune system mistakenly attacks the peripheral nervous system—the network of nerves located outside of the brain and spinal cord that relay information from the brain to the rest of the body.  GBS can range from a very mild case with brief weakness to nearly devastating paralysis, leaving the person unable to breathe independently until the nerves have recovered.<br /><br />The exact cause of GBS is not known. Researchers don’t know why it strikes some people and not others, but the thought is that in an effort to fight an infection, even a slight one that could have occurred weeks prior, the body begins this autoimmune response, mistakenly attacking healthy nerves.  The great news is that Guillain-Barré has an almost 100% rate of complete recovery over time, usually taking about a year for most things to return to "normal."<br /><br />In the four months since his diagnosis, with the blessing of some amazing health professionals and therapists, and most of all, God’s continued healing and protection, Clayton has made huge strides in recovery!  Serious issues like breathing and swallowing difficulty, heart rate and elevated blood pressure, severe pain, etc have improved or even resolved! He has gone from absolutely NO mobility in a wheelchair with limited use of his hands, to now using a walker, and even walking unassisted for short distances! He is improving every day and is so committed to his therapy.  Even on the hardest days, he is inspiring everyone around him - absolutely determined to regain 100% movement, strength, and overall health!  His wife Sarah has also been an amazing partner through all of this - a true warrior - full of faith in God and a constant encouragement and help to Clayton as they face each challenge together.<br /><br />As you can imagine, the medical bills for countless numbers of tests, hospital stays, extensive treatment and therapies are enormous, and we are asking for help in covering those expenses as Clayton has been out of work since this happened.  He’s looking forward to the time when that changes, but for now, all of his efforts go toward regaining full movement and strength!<br /><br />Please consider giving what you can,  and most importantly, keeping Clayton and Sarah in your prayers as they continue this journey to complete healing!<br /><br />Let's <strong>WALK WITH CLAYTON!</strong>

Moore Family- Lake StLouis Home Fire

Two days after Christmas, our youngest son, Gabriel, was suddenly diagnosed with leukemia. A late night call from the family doctor with abnormal blood test results sent Gabe straight to the E.R., and doctors there confirmed the worst. The news was shocking, terrifying, and completely unexpected. Gabriel is 23 and appeared outwardly to be in good health. <br /><br />Blood panels and biopsies confirmed his diagnosis of Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML). After a roller coaster of a week, we are grateful for a positive prognosis. Advancements in recent years for the treatment of CML are encouraging and we are hopeful Gabriel’s treatment will be less invasive as a result.<br /><br />However, as with all cancer, the medical bills are already piling up, due to the expense of diagnostic tests and medications. We believe his monthly cost of medication will include a $1,500 copay- medication which he will need to take for the rest of his life.    Anything you can contribute is so appreciated, so that we can offset as much of this burden as possible.   We are hopeful he will be able to get back to work,  but need to be prepared if not.  <br /><br />Any contribution, or share of this page, would be so appreciated.<br /><br />Thank you for all and any support!

<div>
 Our family is facing one of the hardest moments of our lives.
</div>
<div>
 My dad has recently been detained by ICE and is facing deportation to Laos after spending most of his life here in the United States. This has turned our family's world upside down. He has been the main source of support for our family, and now my mom is left trying to navigate this heartbreaking situation while caring for my younger brother and keeping our household together.
</div>
<div>
 We are asking for help to ease the financial burden during this incredibly difficult time. Donations will help cover:
</div>
<div>
 Legal and immigration-related expenses.
</div>
<div>
 Travel and communication costs so we can stay connected with my dad.
</div>
<div>
 Household bills and basic living expenses while our family adjusts to losing his income.
</div>
<div>
 Support for my mom and little brother as we work through this transition.
</div>
<div>
 Any amount, no matter how small, would mean so much to our family. If you're unable to donate, simply sharing this fundraiser with your friends and family would help more than you know.
</div>
<div>
 Thank you for your kindness, support, and prayers during this incredibly difficult time. We are deeply grateful for everyone who stands with our family.
