I'm Salma, and I live in Gaza with my family of four. In a moment of realization and awakening from the fear, displacement, and suffering I endured during the war, I found myself struggling with the destruction of my home, the starvation my family faced, and the humiliation of trying to find a morsel of food to feed them. I'm truly shocked by what happened. How I was, and how I've become—it's a dream, or rather, a nightmare that haunts me daily. Our beautiful home, which protected us from the winter cold and brought us together in joy, was destroyed. I lost my job as a secretary in a law firm; it was my only source of income, as my husband is unable to work due to chronic illnesses (diabetes and high blood pressure). I lost my son, who was martyred at the age of 17. His death has left a sorrow in my heart that will last a lifetime. His loss was an indescribable tragedy. I appeal to you with all my love and hope that you will help me.
