Hi, my name is Skylar, and I’m 15 years old. I never imagined I would need to ask for help like this, but my mom and I are going through a very difficult time and could truly use support. In 2024, my mom became unable to work while we were living in Montana. She was having chronic daily headaches. She has a condition called a Chiari Malformation and was told she’s not a candidate for surgery. The cold weather and elevation make her headaches worse. We suddenly had no income and it was a scary and uncertain time for us, but my mom kept trying to move forward. When she received a job offer in South Carolina. We used all the money we had to move, hoping it would be a fresh start and a chance to rebuild our lives. For a while, things were finally starting to feel stable again. Her headaches got better. Then my mom began getting very sick almost every day. She experiences severe nausea, dizziness, and struggles with basic activities like walking down the stairs. Some days she can hardly get out of bed. We believe she may have a condition called POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome), but she is still trying to get proper medical answers and treatment. Heat and humidity make the symptoms worse. Because of her health, my mom had to go on short-term disability from work and was ultimately replaced while she was out on medical leave. Since then, she has been unable to find another job due to job competition and is also dealing with ongoing health problems. We may need to relocate again due to the weather making her symptoms worse. We are struggling to afford basic necessities like rent, utilities, food, medical expenses, and transportation while my mom focuses on getting healthy and back on her feet. My mom has always worked hard and done everything she could to take care of me. Asking for help is not easy for us, but we are doing our best to stay hopeful during this incredibly hard chapter of our lives. Any donation, no matter how small, would help us cover essential living expenses, medical costs, and give us stability while my mom works toward recovery and employment again. If you’re unable to donate, sharing our story would mean just as much. Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for any kindness or support you can give. It truly means more than words can express.— Skylar
