Hi I’m Liz and I, among the other residents at Radley Court, South East London, are desperate to restore peace and security to our community.
Radley Court consists of 18 flats in a large ex council building. It was a peaceful and respectful place to live until the disappearance of the old managing agent. During a period without a residential property management company, the block fell into disrepair, tenants began making unsafe and unauthorised structural alterations, security measures were removed and this has left the block open to drug users, trespassers, fly- tipping and other crimes.
Our current residential management agent, employed in 2024 has done nothing to remedy the breaches of the lease both by tenants and the management company. They collect our service charge and do nothing they are contracted to do.
The residents have spoken. Enough is enough. We are seeking legal action, however due to the complexity and the number of complaints, fees are going to be extremely difficult to afford. We are all in different stages of life and some are just about getting by. There isn’t an even playing field and it is impossible to ask some to pay more than others. We need your help.
The objective is to begin proceedings to engage the management company, getting them to begin carrying out their duties under our lease and hold them accountable. Then we want to explore the potential of having the Right to Manage, giving the residents more say and being able to enforce breaches.
We urgently need repairs and garden maintenance. We need a new gate for our car park to prevent trespassers. We need to begin eviction/ forfeiture proceedings for those subletting without permission.
We long to make some improvements that give back to our residents:
A secure bike shed
CCTV use for the block by the council.
regular cleaners and gardeners
a window cleaner
opportunities for engagement and socialising
Your contribution could make the world of difference to some very vulnerable and stressed out families.
Thank you for reading and god bless.
