Every child deserves love, education, and hope for a better future. Across Uganda, many children have been displaced by their own parents due to hardship and economic instability. These little ones often sleep on the streets—cold, hungry, and forgotten—yet they wake up each day with hope, knowing they might receive a hot meal freely provided by ECCOU. At Eastlander Childcare Organization (ECCOU), we strive to do more than feed them. We offer free education for the bright but needy, ensure basic healthcare, and train them in entrepreneurial and practical skills such as liquid soap making and small-scale crafts building confidence, dignity, and self-reliance. For over four years, our mission has survived mainly through the generosity of local donors, friends, and families who contribute farm produce and small gifts of love. Despite this, we now have 93 children receiving active, full-time support—but over 600 more are waiting to be reached. To move beyond survival and toward sustainability, we are developing our first step in a long-term sustainability plan: purchasing tricycles (cargo bikes) that can be rented to local farmers for transporting their produce. This initiative will create a steady recurring income to fund the daily feeding, healthcare, and education of our orphans.
