My brother Vrndavana is here in Washington State beginning his cancer treatment journey.
He was diagnosed with grade 4 glioblastoma in Hawaii, and his doctors referred him to Fred Hutch Cancer Center in Washington State, with locations in Seattle and Bellevue, for a specialized treatment plan.
He quickly packed up his life and came to Washington with his wife and youngest child, only to face even more challenges upon arrival. His expert team at Fred Hutch reviewed his records and referred him to a neurosurgeon for further resection. While trying to settle in a new city with no permanent place to live, Vrndavana underwent a second craniotomy, along with weeks of hospital stays, all in less than two months.
As he recovers from his second brain surgery, his doctors have advised that he will begin daily treatment under the Stupp protocol as soon as he is healed enough, which means he will not be able to work a regular job during this time.
Vrndavana’s life has long been rooted in devotion, learning, and scholarship. As a child, he was one of the first students of ISKCON gurukula in Dallas as well as Vrndavana, India. He was initiated by A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada when he was 10 years old. That lifelong spiritual foundation has shaped the person he is today and continues to inspire his writing, research, and Vedic scholarship.
This fundraiser will help support Vrndavana’s daily living expenses so he can focus on treatment, being present for his family, and his scholarship, research, and writings. He will have medical assistance and disability income, and his treatment is expected to be covered, but he still needs help covering basic essentials such as housing, telephone bills, household bills, home essentials that were left behind, a laptop for his academic work, and school supplies for his daughter as she begins Kindergarten.
To all of Vrndavana’s friends, colleagues, family, and well-wishers from near and far, please consider sponsoring and becoming a patron of his research and scholarship during this time.
Your support means so much: financial, emotional, spiritual, cosmic, material. Sharing this fundraiser to will help elevate the vibration of life, love, and community to give Vrndavana the energy to also focus on his art and writing during this experience.
