<div>Last night, my brother Christopher and his family experienced every family’s worst nightmare — they lost their home to a devastating fire in Long Beach, NY. In a matter of hours, the place where they built their life, made memories, and felt safe was gone.

<div>While we are incredibly grateful that everyone made it out safely, the fire destroyed the house and damaged everything inside. Clothes, furniture, cherished keepsakes, children’s belongings, and everyday necessities were all lost. They are now displaced and trying to navigate through this to rebuild.

<div>Right now, they are facing the overwhelming reality of finding temporary housing, replacing basic necessities, and beginning the long process of rebuilding their lives. The emotional toll alone is immense, and the financial burden makes this journey even harder.

The firehouse responded to a fire in Queens that went to a second alarm only to learn that Shady’s apt was in the complex and he had lost everything he owns including his dog in the fire.  We’re trying to help him recoup some of his belongings and also trying to help him find an apartment. If you can help, any donation is appreciated to help this fine young man get back on his feet. Patricia Hulse is wife to Lieutenant Keith Hulse, retired FDNY who was on the job over 27 years, most recently with Ladder 130. Patricia is the most wonderful, careing, selfless human being to ever walk this earth. She never spoke a negative word about anyway and is a constant positive peaceful force in everyone's life.  Unfortunately with a family history of mental illness Patricia has been on an incredibly hard and difficult path for a huge portion of her life. Her husband Keith Hulse devoted every bit of his life and soul to her, to her care, to her comfort and to her life. Keith and Patricia shared a bond unlike any other and in recent years there is no better pair that would have made it to this point. Unfortunately time has done its work and my mother is no longer going to be with for very much longer. Her time is very limited, she is being made as comfortable as possible until she joins our other family members up above. It is incredibly hard for our family, we all love my mom very much and for so long wished for a better and happier path for her. Aside from her loving husband, she has two children that she loved very much Kristofor and Brittany, a son in law Vincent and daughter in law Deniz, also an amazing group of grandchildren consisting of seven granddaughters and one grandson. Through all her struggles, and even to this day her grandchildren light up her life. Due to all the medical expenses that have been endured over the years for her care we do not have any funds needed to give my mother the proper services she deserves and wished for.<br /><br />I am whole heartily asking for any donation that could be made to help us be able to make her wishes become a reality. <p><span style="font-size:1.0625rem;"><br />Please help Kate Buenaflor Dillon fight breast cancer!</span><br /><br />On June 11, 2020, Kate was diagnosed with <br />stage 4 breast cancer.  <br /><br />The diagnosis came as a complete shock to <br />Kate, her husband Ryan, and to all who love <br />them.<br /><br />Kate began treatment immediately and while<br />the results of chemotherapy have been <br />positive thus far, she has a long road ahead.  <br />Once her chemo is complete, she will learn her options for surgery and then radiation.  <br /><br />She is fighting for a curable outcome.<br /><br /><img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/52088714_1603461831887417_r.jpeg" alt="52088714_1603461831887417_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" /><br />For the first few months of her treatment,<br />Kate has kept her diagnosis fairly private.  She has said that if she could just "fly away to a <br />deserted island, beat this thing, and then come back with none the wiser," she would.  But, as a small business owner working to save her bars during the Covid crisis, plans to fly away are <br />just a dream.  <br /><br />Her husband, Ryan Dillon, is a New York City <br />firefighter out of Ladder 144 in Whitestone, <br />Queens.  Luckily, with the support of the <br />FDNY, he has been able to be by Kate's side <br />throughout all of this.  After months of slowly <br />telling friends and loved ones about Kate's <br />diagnosis, they have decided to share it with <br />their larger community and ask for your help <br />and support.
