<div>Our beautiful little Leni, who is just two years old and so full of love and life, has been diagnosed with an extremely rare and very severe rapidly neurodegenerative genetic condition called <strong>Sanfilippo Syndrome Type B (MPSIIIB)</strong>, also known as<strong> Childhood Dementia</strong>. Life-saving treatment may be available this year, but we need to urgently raise funds for her to access this. Children develop relatively ‘normally’ with no obvious symptoms until they are around two years old, then over a short amount of time they lose all skills once learned, experience severe behavioural challenges, extreme hyperactivity, insomnia that can last for days, seizures, a total loss of cognitive and motor function, and a premature death in their early to mid teens, as well as many other horrific symptoms. <strong>Sanfilippo is relentless and leaves nothing untouched</strong>.

<p>Our family has been turned upside down after my beloved son was critically injured in a tragic explosion at his home.

<p>He suffered burns to approximately 75% of his body and is currently under sedation in hospital. He is facing an incredibly long road ahead, with multiple surgeries, extensive medical treatment, rehabilitation, and months of recovery.

<div>Baxter appeared to be a healthy baby, but at just 4 months old he began losing developmental milestones. After months of testing, we received the heartbreaking news that he has an extremely rare spontaneous genetic condition called CAMK2D. Baxter is the first known person diagnosed in Australia and only the ninth known case worldwide, meaning there is very little medical knowledge to guide his future. He also has craniosynostosis, which will likely require reconstructive skull surgery, along with hypotonia, significant developmental delay, and complex medical needs.

<div>At almost two years old, Baxter cannot walk, crawl, talk, or feed himself. He requires constant supervision, assistance, therapies, and advocacy every single day. As his full-time carer, I coordinate all of his appointments and provide around-the-clock care while also raising his older brother, Boston.

<div>Although we receive NDIS funding, the 7 hours of weekly respite we have been approved for does not come close to meeting the reality of caring for a child with such complex needs. The physical and emotional demands are immense, and our greatest need right now is ongoing support through a nanny or caregiver who can help us provide Baxter with the care, consistency, and opportunities he deserves while allowing me to continue caring for both of my boys.

Honoring Logan with a Peaceful Retirement [North Dakota]

<div>"I work at a nonprofit in Central Vermont. My role is to assess and support people who enter our hotel voucher program. That is how I met Ronnie. Hearing his story stopped me in my tracks.

<div>After his wife passed away, he let people stay in his home with him because they had nowhere to go. Over time, they took advantage of his kindness. They refused to leave and brought others in. Soon, Ronnie was pushed out of his own home and became homeless.

<div>For years, Ronnie has spent thousands each month on a run-down motel just to have a place to sleep, this doesn’t include the $10,000 he had to spend to get his car up and running for him to get to doctors’ appointments. During that time, his home was heavily damaged. There is trash throughout the property, including the garage and pool. Extra campers were added for more people to live there. A rat infestation has spread through the home, destroying appliances, walls, and floors.

In a state of absolute panic, believing he was complying with actual FTC agents, his life savings were drained. This was elder fraud executed with military precision.

Our family is heartbroken to share that Lakesha “Tootie” Newsom has passed away on March 27, 2026, after everything she endured following the devastating dog attack. <br /><br />Lakesha fought as hard as she could.

<br /><br />She was more than what happened to her: she was a mother, a daughter, a sister, and someone who cared deeply for her children. She leaves behind three children: 11-year-old twins and a 13-year-old, who she loved very much.

This loss is unimaginable, and our focus is on providing them with stability, comfort, and the resources they will need moving forward.

<div>I’m writing on behalf of my 38-year-old Son-in-Law Ryan Becker, who is suffering from an unbelievably serious and painful dermatologic condition initially covering over 30% of his skin, now estimated at 60-70%. The lesions also affect mucous membranes, including inside his mouth. Despite extensive diagnostics, admission to ICU at Sacred Heart in Spokane, WA, and examination by a fleet of doctors and specialists, his condition remained a medical mystery.

<div>Ryan was urgently flown to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, where he spent nearly three weeks being evaluated by the Head of Dermatology. Despite their efforts, Ryan’s illness remained undiagnosed, prompting an urgent transfer to the National Institutes of Health Center for Unknown and Undiagnosed Illnesses at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore. Ryan spent another three weeks at Johns Hopkins, where doctors worked extensively to rule out countless potential causes, still without answers.

<div>Since this campaign started, Ryan has developed more than 20 additional lesions, rapidly increasing coverage across his body. After exhaustive workups at Johns Hopkins, Ryan was urgently referred to Dr. Alex Ortega at Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) in Portland, OR—the world’s leading specialist in Pyoderma Gangrenosum (PG). Most doctors encounter only one or two PG patients throughout their careers, but Dr. Ortega sees nearly 40 per month.

<div>After examining Ryan, Dr. Ortega confirmed it was by far the most rapid and widespread case of PG he had ever seen. Ryan is also the first known patient in the over 90-year history of the disease to present simultaneously with all three subtypes of PG. Ryan will begin an emergency experimental treatment at OHSU next week. Before starting the treatment, Ryan has had to significantly reduce his steroid dosage over two weeks, unfortunately causing additional bullous-type lesions to appear on his arms and hands. Currently, steroids have only been able to temporarily slow the progression.

<div>Beyond this life-threatening illness, Ryan also suffers from severe PTSD due to his previous career as a medic and firefighter, where he experienced profoundly traumatic events.

<div>Erin carries a rare genetic mutation (PSEN1) that guarantees this disease. Her mum died from it. So did her aunt. So did her grandfather. Erin has known this might come for her one day — but no one imagined it would be this soon.

<div>Even with a confirmed diagnosis, Erin has been told she’s too young to qualify for clinical trials in Australia. The very gene that proves what’s happening to her is the same one locking her out of support.

<div>On Friday night, our world changed in the most unimaginable way.

<div>My sister Casey, who was 38 weeks pregnant, and her partner Ryan were involved in a devastating highway crash caused by two young drivers who were reportedly racing at speeds of up to 180 km/h. Their car was struck with such force that it was completely written off.

<div>Casey was seated in the back seat, directly behind Ryan, when the impact occurred. As shown in the image, the car door had to be completely removed to free her. She was trapped for nearly an hour before emergency services could get her out.

<div>She was rushed to hospital and underwent an emergency C-section to deliver their baby boy, Henry.
</div>

<div>Henry was born unresponsive and in a critical condition. The medical team is unsure how long he had been without oxygen, and he experienced blood loss along with other complications. He is now being closely monitored and treated for a brain injury, including brain bleeds. He remains in a critical but stable condition, and his journey is only just beginning.

<div>Casey suffered a broken bone in her back from the crash. Thankfully, it isn’t causing her significant pain, but she is bruised, battered, and still recovering. Ryan also sustained minor injuries. While both of them are physically healing, the emotional toll is immense.

<div>In early 2023, Tiana’s world was turned upside down. What began as fatigue and headaches quickly escalated into something far more serious. She was found unconscious at home after seizing through the night—and rushed to ICU, where her body began shutting down. She couldn’t speak, walk, or even open her eyes.

<div>Doctors were initially at a loss. After weeks of testing, hospital stays, and multiple medications, she was diagnosed with epilepsy. But the seizures continued, and her memory deteriorated. She couldn’t remember whole chunks of her life—months and even years lost.

<div>Over the next two years, Tiana fought for answers. She visited nearly every major hospital in Sydney, underwent EEGs, MRIs, lumbar punctures, PET scans, and trialled multiple medications. She was forced to quit her job, move back home, and put her life on hold.

<div>Finally, with the help of a new neurologist and an incredible medical team, she was given a likely diagnosis: autoimmune encephalitis—a rare condition where the immune system attacks the brain, causing inflammation and seizures.

<div>It only seems like yesterday that Tiana was a young girl, competing in hurdles at the Youth Commonwealth Games and proudly representing Australia. Since then, she has continued to live an active, healthy life—maintaining her passion for fitness and wellbeing. Now, she’s facing a very different kind of hurdle—one that no young person should have to face.

<div>She now undergoes monthly IVIG infusions (using plasma from donors), takes high-dose steroids, and manages a complex medication regime. There is no cure—only ongoing treatment, monitoring, and careful management.

<div>Tiana had managed to return to full-time work—an incredible step forward—but due to the toll her condition and treatment continue to take on her body, she has now had to reduce her hours and move to part-time work. This has added even more financial pressure during an already difficult time.

<div>To make things harder, many of the medications Tiana relies on are not covered under the PBS (Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme), which makes her treatment significantly more expensive.

<div>At just 24 years old, Tiana should be living the vibrant, carefree life most of us take for granted at that age—working, socialising, travelling, and making plans for the future. Instead, she’s juggling hospital visits, specialist appointments, chronic fatigue, and mounting medical bills.

<div>With the recent and tragic loss of Danny and Donovan (Don) Sumner during what's usually an exciting weekend fishing trip, we were devastated to learn of the drowning incident that took their lives on the evening of Saturday, March 22, 2025. Danny was a loving son, brother, husband, father, friend, teammate, and educator to those who knew him. Danny was known in his community for being the guy to help without being asked. A devout Christian, he exemplified how to live a Godly lifestyle no matter the setting. Don was a kind and gentle spirit who loved playing with his baby brother Danilo, neighborhood friends, and just recently accomplished riding his bike without training wheels. We are reaching out in a humble request for financial assistance for his wife and youngest child. Danny was the sole source of income and his wife, a stay at home mom of their children. <div>Beth is currently 30 rounds of radiation. She is living in housing provided by the American Cancer Society, as her home base and is nearly a 3 hour drive. While she is in treatment she is also seeing a speech therapist, physical therapist, and other oncology doctors on her team.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>At the end of November, Beth underwent a LIFE SAVING surgery. I am finally at a point that I can say out loud, the cancer was killing her. She was in so much pain, she could barely get up to go to the bathroom. The only way she was sustaining her body was with formula in her feeding tube. We are INCREDIBLY grateful that she was able to get care at MD Anderson, the best head and neck cancer center we could find. They removed 80 percent of her natural tongue, and constructed a flap made from the muscle of her thigh. The flap is sewn to the floor of her mouth to help fill the void where her tongue used to be.

<div>The surgery was successful, clear margins around the tumor. The 75 lymph nodes they removed during the neck dissection were also free of cancer. However, her pathology revealed that the cancer was Stage 4, aggressive, and had perineural invasion. The nerve invasion makes the risk of recurrence and spreading higher. That is why her team recommended she have radiation again. They will zap any microscopic cells that may have been left behind.

<div>With your support, she is able to be off from work to receive treatment and rehabilitation. She is learning to speak again and is building her confidence everyday. Life will look very different, but beautiful for her when she is done with treatment. We continue to be humbled by the kind words, generous donations, and prayers you've wrapped our family in.

<div>We never expected to be writing, "my sister has cancer." But on March 11th, Bethie (she prefers Beth LOL) was diagnosed with Oral Cavity Tongue Cancer. She has a large, 4 cm tumor that needs to go.

<div>As a family we are determined this is a detour on Beth's path and we are going to support her on her healing mission.

<div>As many of you are aware, Beth has had a successful career in hospitality and LOVES what she does. Seeing her people, sharing in your lives, and mixing the drinks will take a back seat while she is fighting this battle. It is clear that she is going to be without work during her treatment.

<div>Hi, my name is Rahul, and I’m fundraising for my friend Rajneesh, who was brutally attacked while working as a DiDi driver in Melbourne.

<div>On March 9th at 1:00 AM, Rajneesh was picking up a customer when three to four armed men forced their way into his car and attacked him with machetes and knives. They cut off two of his fingers, stabbed his legs, and dragged him out of the car, beating him for several minutes.

<div>Fernwood Fitness Robina is reaching out to seek help and support for one of our much loved team members, Julie and her beautiful family. Julie has been a part of the Fernwood Fitness Robina team and community since 2011 and has had her life torn apart over the last few years.

<div>Julie's Story:
</div>
<div>In August 2019, Julie's husband Russ was diagnosed with multiple Myeloma, a type of blood cancer that develops from plasma cells in the bone marrow. He underwent extensive chemotherapy, radiation, and a stem cell transplant during treatment. Although Russ has been in remission since his transplant, he continues to suffer from related health issues.

<div>In December 2020, their daughter Amber, aged 17, was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare and aggressive cancer, that starts as a growth of cells in soft tissue. After only one year of battling through chemotherapy and radiation, Amber sadly passed away in June 2022 at just 19 years old.
</div>

<div>Now, as Julie and Russ are still grieving the loss of Amber, their eldest daughter Jasmine, aged 24, has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of leukemia. Jasmine's treatment plan involves extensive chemotherapy and a possible stem cell transplant, requiring her to stay in Brisbane for four months. During Jasmine's treatment, Julie and Russ will need to juggle work or potentially take time off to support and be with her.

<div>Hi, my name is Eric Campbell. I’m 35 years old, a father to three beautiful daughters (ages 1, 2, and 11), and I’m facing the hardest battle of my life.
</div>
<div>I have polycystic kidney disease (PKD), a genetic condition that has led to kidney failure, putting a severe strain on my heart. In addition to PKD, I also have congestive heart failure, which makes this fight even tougher. I go to dialysis three times a week just to stay alive, but I need at least one new kidney to have a real chance at life. There’s no cure for PKD, and while treatments can slow its progression, my health is declining fast.
</div>
<div>My biggest fear is not for myself—it’s for my daughters. I want to be there to watch them grow up, to see them go to school, to walk them down the aisle someday. To teach them about life, love, and the Lord. But I’m scared that this disease will take me from them too soon.
</div>
<div><strong>A Family History of Heartbreak</strong>
</div>
<div>This disease has already claimed so much from me and my family. My father passed away from PKD when I was just 10 years old, and my older brother lost his life to it too. I know what it’s like to grow up without a father, to feel that emptiness and pain every single day. When I look at my girls’ faces, I can’t help but think about the future—they deserve a dad who’s there to hold their hands, wipe their tears, and cheer them on in every moment of their lives. I can’t let this disease take me from them like it took my dad from me. They are my reason to fight, my reason to keep hoping, and my reason to ask for your help.

<div>As a man, I’ve always prided myself on standing on my own two feet, working hard, and providing for my family. So please understand how humbling it is for me to even be in this position, asking for help. This goes against my own code, but I know that my love for my daughters is far greater than my pride. It’s not easy for me to do this, but I’m putting my faith in God and in the kindness of others to help me give my girls the future they deserve.

<div>When I was 22, I was diagnosed with heart failure caused by a virus. I spent 33 days in the ICU after being misdiagnosed three times. By God’s grace, I made it through that challenge, but now my heart and kidneys are failing me again.

<div>Because of my health, I lost a stable job and now deliver food to provide for my family. But between hospital visits and dialysis, it’s hard to keep up. The stress of it all—on my body, my mind, and my spirit—is overwhelming. My daughters are my world, and I’m determined to be the best father I can be for them, but I need help.

<div>For so many years, I’ve read countless GoFundMe pages, feeling that familiar ache in my heart and like so many people, I’d often donate with a quiet thought in the back of my mind: “Thank god that’s not me or my family.” It’s a hard truth to swallow, but we’re only human. We send our prayers, we share our support and we hug our loved ones a little tighter, grateful for our own health and safety.

<div>This year, that story changed for us. Now, this is our family’s new story:
</div>
<div>My little sister, Sarah and her husband, Jeff, are truly the best kind of people. Sarah’s the type of person who lights up a room, always smiling and Jeff is the guy who would give you his last dollar if you needed it. Sarah and Jeff are the friends who turn strangers into family and together with their two little boys, Rome (5) and Iro (2), they’ve built a life full of love, laughter and generosity. Anyone who knows them will know how in love they are with each other, their children and life itself.

<div>In August, their world was shattered. After months of unexplained symptoms and masked behind another chronic illness, Jeff - who’s only 38, was diagnosed with motor neurone disease (MND), also known as ALS, a cruel and relentless neurological disease, causing the motor nerves to become damaged and die, slowly robbing the body of its ability to move, speak, and eventually, breathe. There’s no cure, and the average life expectancy is heartbreakingly short: just 2-3 years from diagnosis.

<div>What makes this even harder is the timing. Only months beforehand, after over a decade of intense study, Jeff passed his final exams and completed his overseas rotations to become a podiatric surgeon. Sarah and Jeff poured everything they had into this dream, with Jeff travelling to train overseas, pushing himself, sacrificing, and working so hard to pursue his dream and secure a better future for their family. Then, just as he was ready to start practising, Jeff’s diagnosis took it all away. His medical licence was revoked immediately. Sarah, who had been working in HR, was made redundant shortly beforehand as Jeff's symptoms were escalating. Just like that, everything they’d worked so hard for was gone.

<div>2024 was meant to be about enjoying the fruits of their combined hard work and dedication, trying for their much dreamed of third baby and finally, enjoying time as a family free from study, travel, stress and sacrifice. They always focused on the light at the end of the tunnel.

<div>Jeff has always been the picture of health - an elite soccer player in his youth, a passionate runner with the Vipers mental health Running Club, and a competitor in 100km ultra-marathons. He has always been so self disciplined, considered and deliberate in all elements of his life, excessive in nothing, apart from his dedication to his little boys and his wife Sarah.

<div>To see someone so full of life, strength and determination now face a disease that takes it all away…it’s more than any family and friend should have to bare.

<div>For as long as I can remember, my sister and Jeffrey have embodied the kind of partnership many aspire to find, but few achieve. Their connection was immediate - love at first sight, statistically improbable, hopelessly undeniable, the kind of relationship you’d envy if you didn’t love them both so much. Together, they’ve built a life defined by mutual respect, laughter and unshakeable support for each other. They have always spoken of how lucky they are to find what they have.

<div>Jeffrey is a one of a kind kinda guy: sharp-witted, deeply compassionate and the best kind of dad, both firm and loving. My sister often says he’s her greatest achievement, and though she has accomplished so much, I’d be hard-pressed to disagree. Their relationship is a masterclass in love and partnership, an inspiring testament to the beauty of finding not just someone to share your life with, but someone who makes every day better simply by their presence.

<div>Myself and a group of Sarah and Jeff’s close friends have created this page to ask for your support. We want to ease their financial burden and to help cover treatments that give Jeff some relief of symptoms. One of Jeff's medications alone costs $700 a month. But more than that, we want to give them the chance to make as many memories as humanly possible in the short time they have left together - to enjoy simple, but such precious family moments that they thought they had the rest of their lives to enjoy - dinners out and holidays that will lift their spirits – and stay in their hearts forever.
