I'm raising funds to honor my husband, Dave McCollum. Dave fought cancer for the past two and a half years, and during that time we would walk together at Joe Glik park. There are memorial trees and benches there, and he always said he wanted a tree and a bench there so we could still sit in the park together. Losing Dave has been devastating. I am heartbreakingly shattered after losing the man I have been with for 43 years, since we were 17 and 18. This loss has been equally as heartbreaking for our son, daughter, son-in-law, and three granddaughters as well. This memorial means so much to us because it reflects a place we shared and a wish that was deeply personal to him. Dave became very close to nature during his fight with cancer and developed an even stronger connection to it because it was the one thing that brought him peace. The funds from this fundraiser will go toward the placement of a memorial bench and memorial tree at Joe Glik park. We need to pay for the memorial by the end of the year to guarantee placement in the spring. If you are able to help, any donation would mean so much to me. Even sharing this fundraiser would be a kindness as I work to create a lasting place to remember Dave and the life we shared together.
Dave fought the toughest fight and endured so much pain, is finally free of all pain. On September 19, 2026 in the evening he passed away from the most horrific cancer. We will never be the same and our hearts ache. We will release more information in the coming days. Thank you seems inadequate for all of the support. Please know that it was overwhelming to Dave to really see how much he meant to everyone. Much love to you all. Take the time to raise your glass, hug everyone you love and listen to your favorite songs.
