Dear friends, I'm posting this on behalf of our dear friend Dhalia, through the Pantelis K Fakiris Foundation, because her story has touched my heart deeply, and I know it will touch yours too. The past few months have been incredibly tough for Dhalia. While she was in Washington, her father suddenly passed away in Hawaii. In just three days, she dropped everything—her life, her routine—and flew to the islands to support her father's widow, arrange his cremation, and begin the exhausting process of probate and settling his affairs. Dhalia has always been the one to step up for others, and she did so again, even while grieving. Living on a fixed disability income, Dhalia has poured every dollar and ounce of energy she has into honoring her dad's memory and ensuring his wife is cared for during this heartbreaking time. She's now settled on the Big Island to see things through to the end—but one vital piece of her world is still missing: her beloved puppy, Gypsy, who's waiting back in Washington. Gypsy isn't just a pet; she's Dhalia’s constant companion, her emotional anchor, and the one source of unconditional love and comfort that's helped her through this immense sorrow. Gypsy is the last piece of "home" that isn't with Dhalia yet, and being separated from her has made the grief even heavier. To reunite them on the Big Island, Dhalia must follow Hawaii's strict rabies-free import rules—no exceptions, or Gypsy faces quarantine. This includes a specialized FAVN rabies antibody blood test (sent to an approved lab), vet clearances and health certificate, the state Neighbor Island Inspection Permit, a private veterinary inspector at Kona airport for direct release, and airline transport fees. On her limited income, these unavoidable costs exceed $1,500—an impossible amount right now. Here's where every donation will go directly (based on real current requirements): FAVN Titer Testing, Vet Clearances & Health Certs: ~$500–$700 Big Island Private Inspector Fees (at Kona Airport): ~$350–$450 State Permit (Neighbor Island Inspection Permit) & Airline Transport Fees: ~$400–$600 Dhalia has spent these months selflessly caring for everyone else. Now, she's finally asking for a little help to bring her best friend home so they can heal together. Any amount—no matter how small—will make a real difference and help close that painful distance. If you've ever known the comfort of a loyal dog during dark times, or if you've lost someone close and understand how much a furry companion means, please consider donating or sharing this. Your kindness could literally bring joy back into Dhalia's life when she needs it most. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for reading this, for your generosity, and for helping Dhalia and Gypsy reunite. Every share and donation counts. With gratitude and hope, A friend supporting Dhalia via Pantelis K Fakiris Foundation ❤️
