The 2026 Uganda Martyrs' Day celebrations in the UK, will be held on 26th June 2026, Holy Mass will be led by that His Excellency, Archbishop Miguel Maury Buendía, Apostolic Nuncio to Great Britain Uganda Martyrs' Day is a significant annual celebration observed every June 3rd to honour the courage, faith, and sacrifice of the 22 Catholic and 23 Anglican converts who were executed between 1885 and 1887 in Uganda for their Christian beliefs. Their unwavering commitment to their faith has made them symbols of resilience, unity, and devotion, not just in Uganda but across the global Christian community. Over the years, Uganda Martyrs’ Day has developed into one of the largest and most significant religious gatherings in Africa, drawing millions of pilgrims from across the world. It is a sacred occasion marked by prayer, reflection, and cultural celebration, uniting people of diverse backgrounds in a shared spirit of faith, remembrance, and solidarity. Organising this celebration outside Uganda, particularly for the Ugandan diaspora, requires substantial resources to ensure that the event is inclusive, dignified, and spiritually enriching for all participants.
